  1. so i'm having a mantilla made and they sent me a 5 lace options. i've narrowed it down to 2, but i really can't decide any further. what do you ladies think? my dress is incredibly simple ivory silk so either would go with it.. any thoughts? it's amazing how the closer it gets to the wedding, the less i am just able to make decisions about trivial things...! lace 1 lace 2 this is what i'm asking them to recreate
  2. we haven't felt it too much. we bought a house last year, thank god. if we tried this year there would be no way we'd get a mortgage. they did away with the loan type we got because so many of the people foreclosing had this loan.
  3. i'm a bm in a wedding coming up. the wedding is in ocean city, nj and it's an old school jersey shore theme wedding (old school as in cotton candy machine, black and white photo booth, mr softee truck, etc) aaaanyway, the shower is coming up and i was put in charge of centerpieces. i bought pink sparkly sand buckets, and inside i put that pink crinkly paper in there. then inside there i put a bunch of huge ring pops and the shovel. so basically this all seemed so much cuter inside my head because i'm pretty unhappy with the final product. i like the buckets and shovels and i like the pink crinkly paper- i want to avoid sand because it's messy and i have to travel with these. so what else can i put in these things i have enough time to order things online if i need to. any of you crafty girls have ideas?
  4. i have both actually. i love the first one more than the second, but i will say that the first one doesn't allow much room for a larger chest... i can't even fit a padded bra in there. so i'd let your ladies choose.
  5. i'd blame it on the groomsmen.. as in, your fi only has 8 guys so you had to match up with 8 girls.
  6. from the tacony, you could work anywhere in the northeast. from betsy you can easily get to port richmond, bridesburg, fishtown, northern liberties, etc. the ben franklin would bring you into center city, chinatown, society hill, south street area, bella vista, etc the walt whitman would bring you into south philly. as a fellow jerseyian, i recommend against working in university city if you can help it. i did the commute for a while and it's just not an easy drive. over the bridge to 95 to 676 to the parkway. no good. i'd also recommend against fairmount, art museum area. but that's strictly based on commute. if you love the internship, the commute isn't a deal breaker, just a pita. let me know if you need more specifics.
  7. i've stayed in the green iguana! it's very quaint and the owners are really sweet. and the view from the balcony is great! however i'm ont sure i would recommend it for anyone really older unless you are okay with calling a taxi to get you everywhere. you can walk into town from there but it's 100+ steps.
  8. finally found my clutch! the orange shows up a lot more red in the pic, but it's a really bright orange. made of silk with a piece of bamboo for the closer. it's by banana republic but found it on ebay!
  9. here are mine- they have little shells around the front. i got the from Women's Shoes, Men's Shoes, Kids' Shoes, Handbags - 6PM.com for 36 bucks.

Have you really only done 2 things on your list? So..... here is the short version....in no particular order..... TO DO: ~ Buy groom gift ~ Buy BM gifts ~ Buy GM gifts ~ Find florist. Order flowers ~ Select 3 songs for videographer ~ Get marriage license ~ Book legal ceremony in Canada(we are getting hitched first here) ~ Dress fitting 1 + 2 + maybe 3 ~ Find and order guys suits ~ Find and buy FI ring ~ Buy Oot bags ~ order/buy oot bag items ~ assemble oot bags ~ DIY monogramed chapstick ~ DIY sticker for bag, and labels ~ Order fans, buy ribbon, DIY tags, assemble fans. ~ Find and buy wedding day shoes + lingerie ~ Buy candy bags from Michaels, buy candy, make labels, assemble bags. ~ Order BM and bride parasols ~ find and order better wedding arch than resort provides ~ Buy 'guestbook/photo album Anyone else this far behind? hm... that is a pretty long list. but some of those things you can knock out pretty easily. like... order the fans, parasols and oot bags because you have to wait for them to ship. also, you might want to get your dress fitted pretty soon!

I just need to find the time to sit down and do it already! I've been procrastinating like its the gym or something! AAARRRGGGHHHH! me too!!! once this semester ends i'll finish up my loose ends but it feels like there's so much.
  13. try the search function to the top right. there have been quite a few threads on this.

AI is a reasonable option on islands that aren't as open to tourists making their own way around, such as Jamaica or the Dominican Republic. They are also wonderful if they are super resorts, such as a Sandals. None of the AI resorts on St. Thomas provides an experience like that. St. Thomas has so much to offer in the way of activities and dining, in addition to being a 15 minute ferry ride away from St. John, another beautiful island. I would never ever want to go all-inclusive on St. Thomas. I'd miss too much. Just a thought. this may have already been covered in this thread, but i'm throwing it out there anyway. i was last in st. thomas in the end of august last year, which is off peak season. st. thomas pretty much operates around the cruise industry and when there are no cruise ships, everyone closes up shop. we had a difficult time finding reasonable places to eat consistently. we went to a lot of the same places over and over and sometimes finding a place to eat just kind of became a hassle. i'm sure if you're there during peak times you won't have a problem, just want to throw that out there. also, gladys' cafe is great!! definately the best place we ate.
  15. i haven't been to any of those either, but the melia caribe was my runner up.
  16. when we were in this situation, we bought our tickets anyway knowing that fi and i would be paying more than our guests. although that was annoying, i was more comfortable with eating the costs to have a set in stone date for our guests to work with. and honestly, i'm glad we did it this way. in my opinion, a save the month may be a waste of time because your just going to have to relay the message again once you're booked. but with that being said, do what will let you relax!!
