  1. Yeah and we still haven't heard about a bunch of folks! IrieBride08 - where did you get your travel candles and travel mugs? I'm trying to find something good and cheap (oxymoron?)
  2. ooh nice - this one i can use! Although that other company has the fans for considerably cheaper...
  3. (but i have no clue how long things should be which is why i wrote in 1st place)
  4. Lyrebard - Rre you having a cocktail hour too? you can do it btwn cocktail hour and soup course! Who is your band? Otherwise, that seems like it would work. This is what I'm thinking for me: Cocktail Hour - 1 hour obviously Hora with band - 15 minutes Guests to seats, get settled 15 Appetizer (they call it entree in Mexico) - 20 minutes, band in bkgd 1st Dance + 15 minute with band - 20 minutes Main Course - ?? 35 minutes? - band in bkgd DJ dancing - hour Dessert + toasts - 20 minutes DJ dancing - hour cake cutting
  5. I should know by Monday March 3 how many guests I'm having and how many extras I might need, so I can let you know then.
  6. I did some shipping and cost calculations based on an estimated 80 bags (45 lbs) for my order: to my address 90291 (home) or 90401 (work more likely) shipping was $21.60 to NY zipcode (took the lower east side zipcode of one of my guests) shipping was $42.60 That is a difference of $21.00 If I bought them and had them sent to me, I'd have to pay tax at 8.25% = $26.35, so shipping to NY saves me $5.35 If we got the $3.80 price, my bag order would drop in price by $15.20 So $5.35 + $15.20 = $20.53 in savings, but shipping back to me has to = $20.53 to break even with how much I would have paid by ordering alone with no discount. I looked up on FedEx what it would cost to ship 45 lbs (which is what Dharma says it is) by ground shipping (the cheapest way) and it was $44.34. So that is an extra $23.81 . If the rest of the girls split it, it would ruin their savings, no? And I don't want to pay more than ordering alone, sorry to be selfish. UPS and the post office were more expensive. Another consideration is the additional time I'd have to wait...I would like to get them by mid-March latest because my screenprinting turnaround time is 3 weeks. So - I guess it is up to the rest of you to calculate if this is worthwhile? It doesn't seem like I'll get to save anything in this, but I would like to help out if it helps, but I'm not so sure. it would be nice to save too, considering how many I'm ordering... I wish they'd just give us a freaking bulk order savings code!
  7. Is a band playing the hora or are you using a cd? I need an mp3 to send to the Jazz band to see if they can play it. PM me if you have one thanks!
  8. We're having my favorite cousin's husband, who is Jewish so knows some of the traditions, but is also just a charming guy who is a little older (late 40s) and feels like an officiant in a way, marry us. We just couldn't take any of our friends seriously enough in that role, sadly - and it would have been a hard choice. I was freaking out and kind of rushed into the decision, but hopefully it'll work out. I'm having a chuppah too, and I'm having one of my best friends, a really good writer, write something that kind of takes the place of the 7 blessings, in a way that covers the topics of the 7 blessings in a non-religious way, and read that at the wedding. My FI will break the glass, but it will symbolize the fragility of human relationships or some other thing other than the destruction of the temple (for him at least). But I haven't looked into the ketubah yet - did you write your own, it is so hard to see the words on the samples! Oh, and we're also dancing the horah .

VERY UNDONE: need to pick wedding bands need to pick groom's outfit need to buy groomsmen's shirts need to buy flower girl's dress need to figure out what we need to do to marry here legally need to book honeymoon need to buy gifts for wedding party (we're already buying their clothes and treating them to salon tho, so maybe smaller) need to buy gifts for ushers and other people participating in ceremony need to find shoes need to buy wedding lingerie need to buy rehearsal dinner and welcome cocktail dresses need to buy beachwear need to pick 1st dance song need to pick dance music for DJ need to finalize rehearsal dinner need to order thank you cards need to make programs need to make welcome letters need to make spanish/english phrase page Make ya feel any better? 10. lyrebard - are you getting married by a rabbi? or a friend? or a judge? would love to hear what jewish elements you are incorporating into your ceremony!
  11. lyrebard - thanks - i'm in a similar situation - Reconstructionist/Conservative Jewish agnostic + my FI former christian who is staunch atheist. Very helpful!
  12. I have fat blasting cardio Billy Blanks too. I usually have to do 1.5 tapes to get a proper work out, unless I"m already feeling sluggish that day.
  13. Does anyone have any Jcrew coupon codes? I'm ordering a bunch of dresses from there for my bridesmaids, and it would certainly help a lot!
  14. Man, should I take the risk before I get my final count??
  15. I might need to order some extra but I need to wait until next week to get my final count - is that too late? If so, I'll try to guess.
  16. I'm using a huge laser printer at work. I guess I should figure that out - but I am going to have a professional doing the silk screening so I'm not sure how to make sure that color is the same color as my printed materials - I can wait to do the printed stuff until after the bags with the silkscreen - but how do I know what the silkscreen will look like?
  17. (by the way - I'm pretty much using one of those standard 2 palm tree fonts and trying to go with either a turquoise + aqua, or turquoise + dark brown, or turquoise + bright red, or aqua + dark brown, or aqua + bright red, so you see how I'm going crazy! Plus I bought dark brown and aqua pashminas for the OOT bags (onto which I'm screenprinting my logo. And I'm hopefully having turquoise vases at my wedding. AHH!
  18. I'm having the hardest time making my monogram because none of the turquoise or aquas I try (RGB in Publisher) print the way they look on my screen. I realize that this is a standard issue, but I wish I could just have a page of blues or turquoises and aquas and their RGB codes so that I can just print it, see what if I can find the one I need, and then apply it to my logo. Does anyone know of anything of the sort? When I search for it all I find is a list of 3 Turquoises in a brief list of colors, sadly. SO FRUSTRATING!
  19. I would like my wedding to have dancing in between courses and my wedding coordinator is used to the type of wedding where you eat dinner first, then dance, so she asked me to provide her with a schedule. I'm trying to remember back to how long it usually takes people to eat a course and how much time is too much or too little time to dance in between, but with all the weddings I've been to, I am somehow drawing a blank. Any comments or suggestions?
  20. That's what I plan to do too - I fear ordering online and having them screenprinted at an online place b/c I have no control over how it looks, but the local places are pricey for the actual bags.
  21. I may end up needing a few more but I won't know until Friday - my wedding is also in early May.
  22. How many guests are you having? Right now I'm estimating having between 95 and 120 guests (I have 81 confirmed guests so far) - this would be crazy for me to attempt, right? Ugh - so many good projects!
  23. Soaps look great! I'm too lazy! Where'd you get the candle tins?
