I told her that I did not send registry info with the invitations since my guests presence to my wedding is our present. But I still told her where I was registered (since I initially registered to some stores for those that insisted about giving us gifts). At this point, I am not stressing about it as long as I am marrying the man I love, everything else is just a plus. I know it can be a 'bummer' but the people that truly care will make an effort to be there -- which will make your wedding that more precious ... So glad that someone else has had this happen. And you're right, while it's taken me a few hours to get over all the drama, I now know that in the end all that matters are we do have people who are making the effort to make our day even more special by joining us. -
I sent an email yesterday asking for 2008 wedding prices. I'm hoping that he responds soon. Has anyone else emailed him? If so, how long did it take for him to respond?

Funny you said that!! I was going to ask you what color you got but figured/assume that you got the white. But I love the gold, it stands out much more than the white. -

Thats definitely annoying! You're good though cuz I would surely, surely find someway to let them know that it's too late & additional guests can not come!! I know you said its FI's dad & uncles, but still, I'd find someway to let them know how annoyed you are!!! Is your FI as mad as you are?

And like I said, I didn't think anything of it at first, but then I had like 3 people say that to me at some point in the conversation. I'm like, do they think that its only about a gift or money. I mean, these are friends so I think they'd know that its all about their presence & not a potential gift. Hell, if it was alllll about money & gifts, we'd be getting married right here at home. My FMIL asked us one day if we realized that we were gonna lose out on gifts/money from people who are coming because their travel expenses were so costly that they probably figured that being there was a gift enough & no one would afford to give us money too! We both told her we could care less about the potential money or gifts that we may be missing out on. -
I don't know whether I should be offended or what, but I've heard this too many times in the last 24 hours & can't figure it out. I've been venting about how dissapointed I am with the low turnout for our wedding as its way less than I expected due to everyone initially saying that they would definitely attend. Well its funny that everytime someone has called me to tell me that they can't make it, at some point in the conversation they say..."Well, although I can't make it, I am definitely going to send you a monetary gift". Uhhh....ok! I think to myself "And you say that because....do you think I'm expecting it Do you think that makes up for you not coming" What am I supposed to say to that? All I've been saying is, "that's really not necessary, but thanks for the thought!!!" If my FI knew I was saying that, he'd totally kill me!!! LOL But really, I don't know what to make of it or how to really, really respond!

My exact dilemma. I have a friend who's destination wedding is a few months after mine & I know that the invitation is on the way. She told me that she couldn't attend my wedding because she's planning for hers & their budget is tight. She even said that her FI told her to come to my wedding by herself if she wanted to, but she said that she felt it wasn't fair to go without him!!!! So, initially I knew I'd be attending her wedding, but since she's not coming to mine, why should I break my neck & budget myself to go to hers -

I'm the type of person who knows whether or not I'm going to a wedding BEFORE I even get the invitation. So as soon as I get it, I send back the RSVP the next day. That's just the way I am. So it REALLY bothers me when I've given people 4 MONTHS to book their rooms and they haven't. I need to calm down, I feel my face getting all red. Totally, totally feel ya!!! Guess what I've been doing ALLLLLLL DAYYYYY....making freaking phone calls!!!!! And all I'm asking is the same thing, a $100 deposit!!!!! I'm so aggravated & delirious with anger that I just found myself laughing at this entire situation!!!! This is what I'd like to do to a few potential guests.........Would anyone bail me out if I get arrested for assault? Make that multiple counts of assault

Beacuse our weddings are so close together I want us both to feel like we get to enjoy our special day, but I feel like I'm getting stuck with the left-overs! My biggest concern is that we have already made the reservations and are responsible for the total bill! If we don't use 75% of our reserved spots we pay for them anyway! I reserved that number based on all of the yeses we got but when it came time to pay, everyone bailed. Our 1st count of yeses was 80. Thank goodness I only reserved 40! I have to book 30 and am at 19! I am in favor of the traveling BDW wedding support group! Whew! I feel better now! Thanks for "listening" I'm telling you, sometimes things, make that people, really, really suck. I definitely understand where you're coming from, especially in terms of numbers. We have the same problem as we've set up 2 sets of seats to be held on 2 specific flights and we have a contract with the hotel. It's like we're flying by the seat of our pants right now not knowing if we're gonna make our #'s. Please just don't feel like you're getting leftovers. As you said, "your" day is special & you should by all means make the best of "your" day. I'm coming to learn that sometimes you have to stop bending backwards trying to satisfy everyone else and just look out for yourself! -

I think if they were doing the same, I would have made a commitment to be there and I would be there. What does that tell you? TRUE friends are friends forever, not just when it's convinient for them. I think thats been one of my biggest lessons thru this entire ordeal. I didn't think I'd learn it the hard way, but I guess it had to happen! And isn't there some saying that the lessons learned the hard way are the best learned lessons -

People's gripes about a destination
JUSTUSTWO replied to FutureMrs.L's topic in Just venting or funnies
I just complained about the same thing last night. There were a few complaints initially as to why we just couldnt get married at home, but eventually, I thought everyone was on board. While people were excited about traveling with us when we sent out the save-the-dates, now that the time to book has come, I've gotten more people who have backed out than I could have ever imagined. My advice: Do what's best for the 2 of you. It's your wedding, your dream, your life. As these ladies have pointed out to me, you are the one's who matter, not everyone else. You can't make everyone happy so you have to focus on your own happiness. -

I actually just had a lightbulb moment!!! HOW ABOUT ALL OF YOU COME TO THE WEDDING To hell with everyone else!!! LOL....LMAO!!! As a matter of fact, I think we need to start a traveling BDW support group. This group could travel around to fellow members weddings!! Personally, I think the idea rocks but I don't know how we'd get our FI's & Hubbys to go along with this. -
Welcome Heather. Congratulations on hitting the 2 month mark. Sounds like you are all ready to go!!!
