If you want candles/tealights or any other decor on the tables during your reception you should definitely bring those with you.
  2. Quite a few past ROR brides have had the same issue. Here are a few threads which should have some suggestions: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...ers-6-a-34446/ http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...what-do-21506/ http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...-dinner-23999/

If you need something like a PA or speakers you should ask the WC for more info. Depending on where you're having your ceremony I'd like to think the music would be heard without some sort of sound system. But then I guess that depends on how many guests you're having & the type of instrument your brother plays. Definitely run this by the WC.
  4. I think this is fairly common. In my case we had many guests who booked on time & then we had guests who waited until the absolute last minute to book. Those who missed the cut-off date missed the lower rates & paid a higher price which was their fault & not mine. I also can't begin to tell you how many ppl told us initially that they would attend & then when it came time to book, they changed their minds. So you should be prepared for this b/c it is a possibility that all 50 will not attend. With that being said, I know you're worried but you have to try to let it go. You've pretty much done your part. They have the info, they know the cut-off date so if they don't book on time & have to pay higher costs for not doing so then thats something that they have to deal with. I probably invited about 50 people and we had a group of about 35 total that actual joined us in JA. During our time there I only concentrated on the ppl that were there & didn't think twice about those that didn't make it. I'm sure you'll have that same experience & either way you will have a great wedding whether its only the 12 you have now that attend or the entire 50 that initally told you yes.
  5. This thread contains info on the forum & should help you: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...k-forum-32313/ This thread is also in the thread above but since the link is not working, here's the direct thread related to downloading attachments: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...chments-48545/

The T shaped table should not be a problem. As long as your dinner is not on the night of the beach party, hearing shouldn't be a big issue. If anyone else is making a speech & concerned about getting everyone else's attention, they could always come stand next to you & your DH at the head of the table to catch everyone's attention.

I liked them because they were one brand that didn't upset my stomach. The only downside for me was the taste. They have a funny after taste so for me I always had to make sure I took them with a beverage that had flavor. So I definitely recommend them but just beware of a possible after taste. Women's One? Multivitamin Thanks for posting that site!
  8. Glad to hear you had a great time & experience at ROR! Reading your review always reminds me why I love it there so much. I agree that they really need to overhaul the restaurant reservation system. I woke up early every morning to get reservations for our group & standing on that line that early was not pleasant. They way it was before that with the telephone system was a hassle too but I think it worked better. And I couldn't agree with you more about Scotchies! It was great & a nice treat for our guests away from the resort. Your "lessons learned" will definitely be helpful for upcoming ROR brides.
  9. I would also highly suggest using a BDW TA. You definitelly want to make sure that the TA that you use has a knowledge of DW's in general and knows the process that goes along with it & is knowledgeable about the resorts that you can choose in Mexico. Just today I read a review from a bride who did not like her experience with her TA & that filtered down to her guests who told her that she should never use that TA again! I would say that if you already have a resort in mind & you don't have to make a deposit to book the date, I'd book the date just b/c at some resorts dates get booked pretty quickly & you wouldn't want your ideal date to not be available. Then I'd work with the TA in terms of rates. If the rates are too high & won't work for you & your guests, you can always cancel that date & look elsewhere. At least the TA can recommend resorts to you based on you & your guests needs.
  10. Congratulations on your addition & thats great that you're having such a wonderful pregnancy. I had a similar experience as you when I went to see a Maternal Fetal Specialist. He said the same things regarding age that you pointed out in that they are reevaluating the age guidelines & he thought it was quite absurd that 35 & over is considered "high risk" solely b/c of age when there are so many other factors that can affect a pregnancy. I was really surprised that he felt so strongly about this & especially coming from a male DR. It'll be interesting to see when/if they ever change the age that they deem "high risk".

  12. I saw this this morning too. Its great to hear that no one was seriously injured & I hope we don't have any BDW brides or their families/friends on that flight!
  13. No way!!!! That is crazy!!! 32? A heart attack?? Geez!
  14. I watched last night & I thought it was pretty good. One bride got married at a racetrack, one had a greek wedding, one had a traditional garden wedding & the last had a "non-traditional" wedding that ended up being pretty traditional. It was interesting to see the brides judge each other's weddings & be fair doing it b/c they knew that they could potentially be giving points to another bride who would beat their wedding. I guess I'll wait to see if anyone else chimes in to see what they thought. The one thing that bugged me was the 1 bride who went to everyone else's wedding & didn't dance. She always had a reason, either she didn't like the music or it was too loud or the dance floor was too small. But the night of her wedding, forget it, she was a dancing fool! I'm wondering when they are going to have new episodes b/c when I tried to schedule it as a series on my DVR, it only showed this 1 episode. Maybe the network is waiting to see how the ratings are.
  15. Sad to say I'm against it! LOL I mean, its not really a big deal when its actually snowing, but I just hate the digging out part. Luckily I won't have to dig out cuz my car will be nice & cozy in the garage, but unfortunately we only have 1 parking space so DH will have to dig his car out! And I still have some shopping that I want to do & sales I wanted to take advantage of so that means I'll be up & out early so that I can be back before it gets really nasty. I hope its not as bad as they say it will be though. If it is, we'll be inside watching movies & having hot chocolate!!!
  16. I love hot chocolate too. Funny though that I'm okay with the SM brand. I usually get the Chocolate Lovers. I also like it creamy so when I'm home, I always make mine with milk as opposed to water. Have you ever tried that? When I'm out & about, I LOVE Dunkin Donuts hot chocolate. Its sooo smooth. I'll definitely have to try Tim Hortons to compare since they turned a few DD into TH.
  17. From my experience, if you plan on using the DJ, I highly suggest that you bring your own music if there is a certain genre of music that you will want to hear. I would definitely bring a copy of "your song" along with anything else that you want to hear. In the disco & at my reception, the DJ played mainly current R&B/Hip Hop & Reggae, a little bit of disco, but will gladly play any music that you bring. We also had 2 different DJ's, the DJ that played during my reception & then the DJ that played when the disco opened up to the public. The last time I was there in June & went to the disco, the DJ was good & I think their goal is to get people dancing/partying. You can either bring your Ipod & use a playlist, but double check that they will have an Ipod connection poolside. The times that I was at ROR the DJ used his laptop. If you don't plan on using an Ipod just make sure you have your music on CD's & label them. In terms of speeches, our reception was at the disco so we did all of our speeches there, at the end of our private time & right before the disco opened up to the public. I don't think they lasted 30 minutes. Here are a few threads that discuss the DJ & Music: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...ception-40582/ http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...j-music-35120/ http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...n-music-33216/ http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo.../ror-dj-34017/
  18. I used MyPublisher for multiple copies of my wedding album & for my BD album. I've had great experiences with them & love their quality & customer service.

If I decide on the birdcage veil, I'm thinking of a side ponytail style. I need some inspirations... How are you doing your hair? Also, are you using the resort's hair/makeup staff? I did use the resorts salon for my hair but had a friend do my makeup. I had a great experience with the resorts salon & b/c of the weather decided to wear my hair in a bun. Take a look at these threads. They were already wrapped up in a lot of tissue paper so that helped keep them from getting too smashed.

We knew we would have quite a few left over & decided to give them to family members who did not make it to our DW.
  22. Having been to Jamaica three times now & other Caribbean islands, I can tell you not to worry about the online weather forecasts. Like you, the week before my wedding, I was stalking the forecasts & annoyed that it literally said rain every day, which included my wedding day. When I got to ROR, it didn't rain ONCE!!! Not a drop for the 7 days that I was there. When I was there this past June, when it did rain, it would do so for a very short amount of time. One day it would rain for 5 mins & 1 other particular day it rained for maybe an hour at the most. But there was never any continuous rain that ruined the day. In the event of rain, Chandlyn will do 1 of 2 things. She will ask you if you want to wait it out. They know that the rain doesn't last long, so depending on your ceremony time, she may ask you if you'd like to wait until it stops & then start your ceremony. The other option is that if it doesn't look like the rain is going to stop, she will move your ceremony indoors. I've seen this done at Mammee Bay. She'll move all of your ceremony decorations & decorate Mammee Bay. There was a BDW bride who that happened to but I don't remember who it was but her pictures were still beautiful. So this is to say that it may rain on your wedding day, but if it does, hopefully it will be a passing shower & if it isn't you will have a backup plan. Try not to worry & stress out about it.
  23. My decision to do real touch flowers wasn't really based on the flowers being fresh, but on the prices of the bouquets/floral packages at my resort. I found them to be quite pricey for what I really wanted. The cost of real flowers for 1 day, didn't equal the package that I was able to get for my real touch flowers & thats what sealed the deal for me. Plus the fact that I was able to bring them home & have them forever was another big advantage.
  24. Erika, I LOVE IT! You did a great job! Are you giving them out as Christmas gifts? I'm sure they will be a big hit.

You could order your raffia fans from Oriental Trading, which many of us did. You could get the flowers & satin ribbon from Michaels or any other craft store. Here are a few threads that will give you info on how to do it: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...project-16954/ http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...ia-fans-25811/ http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...-photos-28644/ http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...-ribbon-30705/
