  1. Very very pretty!!! Why don't you wear flip flops or go barefoot for your ceremony on the beach in the sand & then change into a cute shoe with a heel for your reception?
  2. CONGRATULATIONS & Welcome Back! Cherie!!! I'm glad to hear that you loved everything & that it was amazing! You'll have to post your complete review & ofcourse pictures. I'd like to hear how everything went from your point of view-from the ceremony, to your reception, to your overall stay...again, everything that you are willing to share.

I just sent you a PM for the clip art. I also asked you where you got the containers from but ignore that part as I re-read & see you got them from the wedding planning store...aka...99 cent store!! Guess I'll make a trip there as well & see if they have anything similar.
  4. Hey Lizz, I hope that it all works out & you get the dress that you LOVE. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed!
  5. At this point, we have more friends who've booked than family. Like someone else said, we have family members on both sides who are afraid to travel. It was very upsetting initally, but I'm over it now.
  6. I think that you should send them just to give people a heads up & so that they can plan appropriately. They have to budget & make sure they can get the time off that they need. The longer you wait, the shorter the time frame in which they can save, especially with your payment deadline being July 31st. You know how time flies & before you know it, July will be here. The last complaint that you want to hear is that you didn't give people enough time! Just definitely make sure you & FI are on the same page with the date. I know you asked our opinion but how do you really feel about it? Which way are you leaning towards?
  7. Abbie, that looks great!!!! You did an awesome job!!! You've got me thinking. Thanks for sharing.
  8. Congratulations & welcome! You'll soon find that this site & the ladies are great, but definitely very addictive. You'll have fun!
  9. Again I must say that its amazing that so many of us have the same issues & dilemmas. I too am trying to figure out what I'm going to do & its either me walking down by myself or maybe with my mom. The only thing is that I think I want my mom to see me coming down the aisle too. I figure I don't want her to miss out on that. So I basically left it up to her & we'll play it by ear. I do like the idea of FI meeting me too. That would be pretty cool. But definitely don't worry about what your relatives say, like you said its all about you two, not them.
  10. Here's the Riu Photography pricelist for 2008 for all of the wedding packages that they offer. Keep in mind that the prices may change for 2009. Attachment 1441 riu photo pricelist_2008.doc

Thanks again..............Marlon Per Chandlyn, Mammee Bay only accomodates up to 50 people. If you're going to have more than 50 guests then you have to use the Plantation. A reception at Mammee Bay/Plantation is not private but they put your party in a section of the restaurant where you are away from the other guests. So you're still with the public but I guess in a more private area. However, you may have a private reception at the Plantation if you pay $500.00 for 2 hours, or $1000.00 for 4 hours. In terms of decorations, you may use the decorations from your ceremony, at the location of the reception. So if you have floral arrangements at the ceremony she will have those moved to the reception & put on tables. I guess if you want anything additional you'd have to pay for it.

  13. Oh that sucks!!! Did they not know that they were going to be closed when you made the reservation? As long as they are working with you & are apologetic I guess that makes up for your inconveinence. Also, it's certainly better that they let you know prior to your arrival & you got stuck there in the middle of renovations. I know alot of hotels don't close, they just renovate while guests are there & who wants that during their HM? I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself even better!
  14. to the forum & Congratulations. You will definitely find lots of info here.
  15. Here's an additional comment from the Riu Bride that this happened to. I went back to the site where she posted this today & she entered this last comment: Re: Riu Ocho Rios and other Qs Posted: Jan 24, 2008 9:02 PM "Wow - didn't realize that was so long...sorry!! I just also wanted to say that I hope nobody thinks twice about booking at the RIU because of what happened to me - it really could happen anywhere and after the appropriate manager and Tammy were involved it was handled wonderfully. The resort is GORGEOUS and every single wedding I saw there was beautiful - it realllly is a wonderful place to get married and the people in Jamaica are some of the nicest people I have ever met.. Just wanted to make sure I didn't scare anyone away There is no reason to worry - the problem was resolved and we had a wonderful wedding and honeymoon!!" So its comforting to know that everything went well with the wedding with the exception of the theft incident to the point that she doesn't want to deter anyone from booking the Riu. In terms of my guests, I'm just going to advise them to be careful with any personal items as they would at any other hotel, on any other trip. I too don't want to alarm them but at the same time I don't want them to go uninformed. Oh and quick question, I can't remember the last time I used Traveler's Checks, but if they are stolen from you, can you get them replaced? I think I remember that they can be replaced as long as you know the #'s of the checks? Does anyone know about that?
