ROR Beach Party Questions - Past Brides
JUSTUSTWO replied to Loveisintheair's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica

If I remember correctly the beach party probably starts btwn 7pm or 8pm. If I'm wrong about this I'm sure the past ROR brides will chime in but when I was there in June I remember we had dinner reservations at 6:30 & we went to the beach party right after that & it was just starting. * Is there entertainment at the beach party? Yes, there is plenty of entertainment. There is singing (live band), dancing (fire dancers), the entertainment crew is there & do a great job of getting the crowd involved! * Do you think if I had just celebrated at the beach party instead of a private after recpetion party it would work out? I think it would work!! My guests & I had a ball at the beach party. The entertainment crew will definitely acknowledge you & FI as the bride & groom too! Thanks for any info! If the beach party is an option than I am going to skip something private if possible. Otherwise we will do poolside dj after the semi-private reception. Just keep in mind that the setup at the beach party is really standing room only. There aren't any tables and there are a few beach chairs but honestly you won't be able to see if you're sitting down, so for the most part, we were standing all night. If you & your guests can deal with that then it can work for you. -
I can't believe he said/wrote that!!! Seriously!!! Sighhh...You should've responded back saying just what you said b/c I think its perfect. Its a totally assinine assumption to think that since it was for a bachelorette party, your focus & interest would be in hanging with "hot available sexy men"! His comment is ridiculous & absolutely sexist. I sent the email to a few news stations and radio stations, maybe someone will pick up on it. I just can't believe that a professional would ever write this!!

Only married 7 weeks and heading for divorce :(
JUSTUSTWO replied to Sparkles8300's topic in Just venting or funnies
So sorry that you're going through this. I agree with Carly that even if you don't go to counseling together, you should go alone just to make sure that you get the attention that you need right now & you get to address your needs, your feelings & figure out what you want to do. Obviously the situation is not good right now but whether you decide to separate or stay together, definitely do what is best for you. -

ROR Marriage Officer’s Name
JUSTUSTWO replied to CherylMc's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Hmmm...I'll have to take a look at my license to see if his full name is on there. But there are different officiants that perform ceremonies. Do you know which officiant performed yours? -

Help... need advice on documentation
JUSTUSTWO replied to kris's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
No, that shouldn't be a problem. Just let her know whats going on in that you mailed it but it hasn't arrived so you're going to email her the documents ASAP. I'm sure you're not the only bride who's gotten stuff to her after the 30 day deadline. In fact I think I mailed my documents 2 weeks before we arrived & we didn't have a problem, not that thats something I'd recommend! LOL -
Help... need advice on documentation
JUSTUSTWO replied to kris's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
If it were me, to be on the safe side, I would pay to have them notarized again & then scan/email a copy to Chandlyn & still take the original notarized documents with you. I don't ever remember showing her the notarized copies when I arrived but you can take them anyway, just in case. -

Yes, whatever chairs/decorations/floral arrangements are used at your ceremony are also used at your reception. I never saw actual color swatches for the sashes, I just asked her if she had the color that I wanted. You could always send Chandlyn an email & ask her if she has the color that you are interested in.

I know that we received an upgrade at the time so maybe it is truly a Jacuzzi suite as it had the jetted tub/jacuzzi in there. Our room was much bigger than a Junior Suite but I did not have any guests reserve regular suites so I'm not sure of the size difference between a Suite & a Jacuzzi Suite. Also keep in mind that there are a few rooms at ROR that have Jacuzzi's on the balcony. Those may also be known as Jacuzzi suites.

Question about RIU Ocho Rios dress code

In terms of the dress code, as Maureen said, Sir Richard, Sir John and Tushima were the only places where it seemed enforced. My brother and my husband wore sandals and shorts to all other restaurants, and we ate at each one several times. Quote: Originally Posted by chicklet My husband and best man had sandals on as well. Kristyne Kristyne, as indicated above, men & women are allowed to wear sandals at Mammee Bay, Plantation & St.Ann. The dress code is strict at Sir Richards, Sir John, & Tushima. For those restaurants I would suggest long pants/slacks/khaki's & shoes for men. -

I agree & we did the exact same thing even though we also used the safe.

I'm not sure what type of room you're staying in but the pictures below are from a Suite. I guess you'd have to find out if all of the closets are the same regardless of room type. Here is a picture of the closet door closed: And here is a picture of the closet door open. You can also see where the safe is located under where the clothes are hanging. Our guests & ourselves kept money, passports, etc in the safe & no one never had a problem during the 2 separate occasions that we've traveled to Riu resorts.

When I was planning, I started with resorts. If you have 2 or 3 resorts in mind for the wedding, I would make a list & contact the resorts first to see what their wedding packages entail. If the resort seems to fit your needs for the wedding, I would then look at room rates & try to determine if the resort would be affordable for you & your guests. From that list I would compare the resorts, the wedding packages & the overall value. If you have a favorite that fits all of your needs, at that point, then I'd contact a TA to see what kind of deal you could possibly get for your guests. Also make sure you use a TA who has experience with booking destination weddings. At the same time, if you use an experienced DW TA, the TA could recommend resorts to you based on what you tell him/her you're looking for. Is it the overall cost/value of the resort thats most important or are you looking for the best wedding package? I guess it depends on what you feel more comfortable doing. I think someone posted a resort checklist/spreadsheet that they used when they were searching for their resort. Maybe you can search for that as it may be helpful in comparing resorts & taking notes as you go along. Hope that helps.

You should be able to read their wedding reviews & get additional info. This is a thread that was found by typing "Riu Tropical Bay": http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...-resort-53373/ As you become more familiar with searching & using BDW, you'll find that there usually is more than 1 way to find the info that you're looking for by typing it in different ways as you stated. You may also want to try abbreviating using "RPTB" or "RTB" as there are threads in that format as well. I hope this helps you. -

Just a quick question though, does anyone know if the $15pp for Seagrape is $15pp/per hour or just $15pp? Thanks!! Seagrape is $15 pp not pp/per hour.
