I only had to carry it outta the store & to the car and found it annoying so I can only imagine how its gonna feel at the airport. Wow, wet, sandy & in a garbage bag!!! That woulda been 1 nice picture! Thanks for the advice!!

I totally underestimated how it would be when I picked it up. When you brought it on with you, were you able to hang it up?

I agree that the pond gazebo is really nice, love the secluded feel, but as some other ladies have mentioned, for me, the Riu in the background isn't really what I wanted. But, if that doesn't bother you then you should go for it. The one good thing is that you aren't tied into making any final decisions until you are there.

I picked up my dress last night & ofcourse it came nicely stuffed, covered in plastic, inside of a lightweight, white garment bag. For some reason, I feel like I need to put it inside of another heavier garment bag, like the cloth ones, just as a precaution. For those of you have already traveled with your dress, did you use 1 bag or 2? Also, how did you actually carry it? Did you fold it in half or did you just carry it as is? I want to make it as easy as possible to manage since we'll have carry on luggage to deal with as well. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks for the feedback!

Question for fellow black brides Re: hair plans

What's wet & wavy? Hey there, just catching up on this thread. Wet n wavy hair is human hair that when wet is wavy/curly, but more on the wavy side. It can also be blow dried straight & then curled or set with rollers. When I used to get box braids waaayyy back in the day, I always got wet n wavy hair cuz I loved how it curled up when it was wet. Perfect way to have your hair in the summer or when traveling. I guess my problem is that usually everytime we go on vacation, my hair is braided. For the last 3 years, I always get cornrows. It's sooo easy & it saves me soo much time! I love being able to get up & go, especially when you're on vacation. I think that I'm so spoiled & now confused cuz this is one of the only times we're going away & I don't want my hair braided & I actually have to deal with my hair. I like the naturally curly look & I think you'll be fine though if you just leave your hair as is. Maybe you'll be able to find some products that will work with the humidity. -
Congratulations & Welcome back! Your pics are great! You looked beautiful-loved the dress, your colors, etc. It was great to see everyone full of smiles. Thanks so much for the great review!!!

Sorry to hear that this happened to you Morgan. Glad that you're ok. Is it bad to hope that their fingers suddenly fall off?

Did you see the reviews? This is what we used: KODAK Sport Single Use Camera I think we got it at Duane Reade or something like that. The good thing was that we got a Picture Cd with it so thats how I was able to share my pics...too bad I don't know where that is now : ( -

Shelley, we used the Kodak brand. They are pricey but we bought them just for us & we were happy with the way the pics came out. I think they had 2 in 1 pack. -
Question for fellow black brides Re: hair plans
JUSTUSTWO replied to Agape Gems's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
I'm glad that you asked this question because I am going thru the same thing right now. For the last few weeks I've been fooling myself thinking that I can just go to JA with my own hair & I'll be fine. I've now come back to reality & know that won't work. I had my hair out last Sunday & by Tuesday it was a wrap. All those bouncy curls had fallen. So I know that if that happened here without humidity, I can just about imagine what's gonna happen in JA. I too plan on getting a relaxer the day before we leave. I'm usually a wash n set, & wrap girl but know thats not gonna work in JA. I wanted to get a weave but I'm not sure. If I get it, I don't wanna use the glue so I'd have to get it sewn in. My beautician wants me to use wet n wavy hair so that I can get in the water with it. All my friends are like I better do something cuz they don't want me looking "crazy"!!! I'm like gee thanks. So here I am, not knowing what the heck to do. I have a few pics I like but really, I just don't want to be bothered with my hair at all. I was all for the trial run the day before the wedding, but its the days leading up to that that I'm worried about. Sighhhh.... -

Very pretty Abbie. Love those colors! -

Seagrapes sounds nice, afraid of mosquitoes causing a problem. Should be ok though. I've read several times that the cake was not good, but in Jamaica it's not as important as if you were home. I'm trying to find a o/s bakery. We'll see. Who are you using for the flowers? You should be fine with the Plantation. The pics that I've seen of it decorated for weddings is very nice. Had I been having more guests I would probably have used it. And yes, the cake reviews are mixed. Some say its great others not so good. I think one difference is the rum so I'm going to make sure mine is plain, without rum. I'm sure you'll be fine with Michael as well. The pics I've seen of his work are good.

Let me know where you are holding your ceremony and what your reception plans are. Do you know if Michael the photographer is exclusive to the RIU Are u using him What about cake and decorations? Yeah, time is FLYING by and I wish I had an extra month to finish all these last minute details! My ceremony is on the beach & my reception dinner is at Mammee Bay. I'm still uncertain about where we're going to "dance the night away". I am thinking about using Seagrape's & having it on the beach. I guess I'll make that last decision once we get there. From what the Riu says, Michael is the only photographer authorized to take pics at the Riu, but you may use your own photographer. You have to pay a breach of contract fee, or the photographer must be a guest of your's & stay at the hotel. I am bringing my own. As for the cake I'm on the fence about that right now. I may get the cake thats included or I may go with an outside bakery. In terms of decorations, all the flowers used for the ceremony, will be brought to Mammee Bay for the reception. Hopefully I answered all of your questions. If you need to know anything else just ask away. Also, be sure to go to the Jamaica forum. The info about the ROR & everyone else's plans & recent brides reviews are plentiful. You will find yourself addicted to BDW in no time.
