  1. Welcome to the forum Courtney! Congrats on being a Jamaica bride. You definitely will find lots of help & info here. Make sure to check out the Jamaica part of the forum. Happy planning!

Shandra Do you have them on a disc? If so, why not make an album youreslf? You can do a search on the forum and you'll find many threads on photo albums. There are sites like shutterfly, snapfish, mypublisher, etc, where you upload the pics to their site & then make your own album. Not sure how quickly you could do it & then get it delieverd since you're leaving so soon. Just a thought!
  3. I know its easier said than done, but try to stay positive. Hopefully all of your other vendors will be available for your new date. Also, I know you said that they are religous, but have you considered asking your families if they mind you keeping your date, even though it is on Good Friday? Maybe they wouldn't mind too much and you wouldn't have to change it.
  4. Wow...great site! He did a wonderful job! It was nice to read your story, look thru the pics, etc.
  5. Hey Leia! Nice pics! Love the hair & those dresses...very cute!

Courtney Many of us Jamaica brides used Lee's Tours. Here is their website: Welcome to Lees Taxi and Tours Jamaica by Lees Elite Travel & Tours Ltd., Taxi and Tours in Jamaica, Jamaica Taxi and Tours - www.leestaxiandtoursjamaica.com - [email protected] Just give them a call or send them an email & they will respond. We had guests arriving on different days & times and they were able to accomodate us. The price will probably depend on how many you have in each group on the day that they arrive. If you find that their prices aren't feasible, just do a search on the forum, and you can find some threads that have other recommendations. I think some people may have also used Jamaica tours. You can always check them out.
  7. Everyone in our group had either Verizon or Sprint & everyone was able to use their phone. The one thing that I will tell you is that if intl calls aren't included in your calling plan, make sure you add an international calling plan on way before you go. Everyone who had a plan was able to make unlimited calls while in Jamaica. For those who didn't have a plan, they got hit with crazy charges when they got home for each call that they made. And like Courtney said, Lee's tours has phones available to rent.
  8. You will be fine!!! It will not look weird. If you search this forum, you will find PLENTY of past brides who did not have an even wedding party and plenty of brides-to-be who won't have one either. Don't let this stress you out at all. If you think its really going to bother you, you can always have them sit in the first row before you come down the aisle, instead of standing next to you & FI. But, I mean really, who's going to be counting The focus will be on you & your FI so don't worry!!!
  9. Those look great. Love the colors. Good job on doing them yourself.

If anyone could help, I would be grateful. Thanks in advance. You usually meet with Chandlyn a day or 2 before your wedding. At that meeting you will discuss all of your plans. You can then give her those decorations & explain to her how you would like to have them on the gazebo. IF you do this, I would suggest bringing a friend along to the meeting, such as your MOH, to be your backup so that on the day of the wedding, she can check & make sure that your decorations are the way they are supposed to be. If you don't want to give them to Chandlyn, you should designate someone in your group to do it. Either way, have a backup plan. The last thing you want is to be upset that they aren't on the gazebo the way that you wanted them!

  12. I used Vistaprint for my photo STD's, welcome notecards & Thank you cards. I love how everything that I've ordered has come out. To me the quality is great. For my STD's, I got the large postcards & matching large magnets. Ofcourse, everything that I've ever ordered was free. Just make sure you go to their site & sign up for their emails. Once you do, you will literally get an email nearly everyday or every other day with their specials.
  13. Welcome to the forum! If you're thinking of Jamaica, be sure to check out the Jamaica sub-forum. You'll find lots of reviews there of resorts!

Thanks for your ideas! Now, I have a question for you veterans: If you choose for the wedding to be at a resort that charges some extras for guests who don't stay there, how do you word this delicately to your guests? "Stay at ___ or I'll pay extra" doesn't sound right, ha. While we would have loved to pay for those guests who didn't stay at the resort, we knew that wasn't an option & not in our budget. So, we simply told our guests the truth, that our resort requires a day pass at a cost of $50 per guest, for those who did not stay at the resort. They knew that not only were they responsible for paying for their own day pass, but they would also have to find their own transportation to & from the resort, and that could be costly as well depending on how far away their resort was. Considering that we had a welcome dinner & the wedding, those guests had to pay for transportation for 2 days & then the day pass. While a guest may find a hotel that has cheaper rates, you have to have them calculate the cost of a day pass & transportation costs to & from your resort and then have them compare to see if its worth it.

  16. & congrats Chrissy! Everyone here on BDW is extremely helpful & full of wonderful ideas. I wouldn't have made it thru my wedding without everyone here! You will also love ROR!
  17. Welcome Jennifer! You'll love ROR!

So in essence the group rate is much more expensive in the long run than if they just book the rooms themselves ($160 more over 4 nights)! Does this make sense? If not, does anyone have a travel agent they have worked with that they can highly recommend? Any thoughts would be great! Erinne There are travel agents here on BDW that would be more than happy to help you. At the top of your screen is a banner that says "Contact a BDW Travel Agent". Just look for the agent that represents your area & send her a private message. Hope that helps you! Good Luck!
  20. Congratulations! The pics are beautiful. Looks like you had a great time. I also love the hint of blue in your BM's dresses & the blue parasols. That cake was fabulous! Your mother making it in her room is just crazy! She definitely gets an award for that! Oh, thanks for letting the brides-to-be know that they don't have to have 1 long table for the reception at Mammee Bay. For some reason, I never even questioned it during the time that we were there! Thats a great tip!
  21. Erica, congrats & welcome to the forum! You said FI doesn't want to get married on the beach, but that doesn't mean you have to change the resort if you found one that you really like. You could always have your ceremony in a location overlooking the beach, or poolside or in a gazebo. Have you seen all of the wedding sites at the particular resort that you're interested in?
  22. I would definitely set a range & even with that, I would think about making the rates a little more than you anticipate, at least by maybe a few hundred dollars. So if you think the highest range is $1100, I might tell my guests $1300 as an estimate. I only suggest this because to be on the safe side, I'd rather give my guests the good news that the price is less than originally estimated as opposed to more!
  23. I think that the ones that you did are fine. Do you intend to display them exactly as they are in the picture that you posted? If so, is there anyway for you to recreate the "complete look" so that you get a better idea as to if they are closer to your vision? Maybe if you see them that way, in some type of box, with sand & shells, you'll be able to figure out if you truly like it or not. Sometimes seeing something complete can change your point of view!
