The sand, the water.....Gosh, I'm having withdrawals right now!!!
  3. We had a ball in Maui! Just make sure you pick up one of the coupon books thats at the airport. Its full of great deals. There are lots of restaurants & bars that had 2 for 1 specials on Front Street. If you plan on going to a Luai, we went to one in Wailea. It was one at the Marriott (I think) which is right next to the Grand Wailea. Anyway, you're going to have an amazing time.
  4. Congratulations! You looked beautiful in that dress! I loved your bracelet, your bouquets, the colors, everything! Great job!
  5. If thats the resort that you & FI picked & you both love it & would realllly like your wedding there, then I'd go with it! Yes, you want to accomodate friends & family, buttttt, in the end, its your wedding!!! You have to do whats going to make you happy. I don't want to sound inconsiderate, but its just my opinion. Having a DW taught me that as much as I tried to keep everyone elses needs in mind, the only thing that should've been high on my priority list was me & hubby. And I'm only saying this because you will try to please everyone, but it won't work. Sorry about the rant ! Really, I'm not into going to places twice either, but, everyone who went to our wedding had such a great time at the resort, that they ALL want to go back to Jamaica next year! Why don't you just tell your sister that you really like the resort & were thinking of having your wedding there & ask if she'd mind going back! Maybe she won't mind!
  6. Dancing on the beach immediately following the ceremony is perfectly fine! There are many BDW brides who had ceremonies on the beach who have done this so you shouldn't think of it as inappropriate! I'm sure that if you take a look at some wedding reviews, you'll even find a few threads where someone talked about having their 1st dance on the beach. Remember, its your day, your wedding, so you can do as you please!
  7. Welcome & congrats on being a Jamaica bride. You'll find lots of ideas here!

  9. That is really just too cute! I love the personalized touch. Your hosts should love them!
  10. I was doing some cleaning the other day & realized that I still have this. If anyone is interested let me know!
  11. Alyssa, you looked beautiful. That group pic of you & the bridal party is really nice. I love the colors of the BM dresses! Welcome back & congrats!! Can't wait to see the rest.
  12. You should get a map when you check-in if I remember correctly. If they don't give you one at check-in, I think they have one in your room on the coffee table. My wedding was on a Friday, so ofcourse, we were partying away at the resort on Friday night. But, maybe you should go to Margaritaville. I went in the daytime & had a great time, so I'm sure you'd have an even better time at night. Many past ROR brides have gone there. Not sure what their hours are though. Oh, here's the map that I have. The one I got at check-in is different, it has more information in terms of the restaurant/bar locations. Map_Ocho_Rios.pdf
  13. Sounds like you had quite a night!! LOL...Can't wait to see those pics!
  14. For some reason, I can't edit my post above, but here's another thread with pics of bouquets: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t27901
  15. Here's a link to a thread from a bride who used another vendor. The vendor's website is in the review: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t27085
  16. Very pretty Yari!!! Gotta love your smile!!!
  17. Kat, sorry to hear about your bad experience with Gaby & not having the video. The good thing is that like you said, you'll always have that look of hubby's face, in your mind!!! Isn't that the best? And, at least you have great pics. You can always make an album for your grandmother & also a slideshow. It won't replace the video, but that should still be a nice momento for her!
  18. Here's a review from a ROR bride who had a bonfire: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t15448

Thoughts?? I know I saw photos on BDW of a bonfire at ROR but I can't seem to find them again. Someone did have a bonfire at ROR but I can't remember which bride. I don't recall her complaining about anyone smelling like smoke though.

Thanks! kelly Just to be on the safe side, I'd wait to get the official copy from Riu. I waited until I got the official copy before I changed my name on my SS card. But, if your local SS office isn't very crowded & the lines aren't extremely long, you can always go & try to use the certified copy that you already have. Maybe they will allow that. But then again, they may want the official copy because it has the seal.

I'm just wondering if it would work or not- anyone have experience with this? There are many brides on BDW who have shared a photographer & it has worked well. A few of us Jamaica brides shared our photographer this past April. Try doing a search on photography & you may find the thread that was started regarding shared photographers.
  22. Everything looks beautiful! Love your dress & that bouquet!!! The just married again pic is too cute! Congrats!
