In the morning there's breakfast with all kinds of bkfst food, from pancakes, to eggs/made to order omlettes, sausage, bacon, waffles, muffins, fruit, juices & smoothies. It then closes & reopens for dinner, which is the same thing, all types of food, from jamaican dishes such as jerk chicken, stew beef, oxtails, fish, rice, veggies, desserts, etc, to "american" food. Some nights are theme nights and they'll have something different. All in all, besides Mammee Bay the night of the wedding, we ate at St.Ann's all the time, for breakfast & dinner. My guests enjoyed the food & I was glad that I had the welcome dinner there, since there was a variety. The only other restaurant we went to was the Japanese one & it was good.

If you really want to have your own photographer, just make sure that you get their policy in writing. I definitely do not want to deter you, but just want to make sure that you are well informed. ROR was a wonderful resort & we had an amazing time.

There weren't any lines on any days when we went to breakfast & we had breakfast every day at St.Ann's. You basically just walk in & seat yourself. We never had a problem getting a table big enough for our group. If you decide to have a welcome breakfast, you can ask Chandlyn if she can reserve tables for you at a specific time, or you can simply go down to St.Ann's about 15 minutes before your group & have one of the waiters set aside an area for you & your group. Just make sure you are clear as to what time breakfast is served. If you get down there too late, St.Ann's will be closed!
  4. At Sir Richard, you get served every course. It's described as a gourmet specialty restaurant. We went & we found it so-so. It was a nice change being served for dinner, as opposed to going to the buffets. But we didn't feel a need to go there more than once & some of our guests said that they could've skipped it altogether. I found it very small & the service was slow, but I guess thats to be expected when you're being served every course. Also, I think there were only 2 main servers when we went. And ofcourse, you have to have reservations & there are 2 seatings. Here's a copy of their menu in case you don't have it. Things may have changed on it as I got this in 2007. Sir Richard Gourmet Specialty Restaurant Starters Mix Leaves salad with crumbled goat cheese and basil vinaigrette Fettuccine Jacuzz sauted with shrimps in a tomato-rosemary sauce Fresh marlin carpaccio served with extra virgin olive oil Soups Shrimps bisque served with julienne vegetables and salmon roe Oriental shorba, puree coconut, carrots and tomato flavoured with fresh cilantro and lemon grass Main Courses Red snapper fillet blackened on a bed of grilled vegetables in a red bell pepper sauce Beef Tenderloin English style served in a pepper sauce dianna Lamb cutlets in rosemary sauce served with vegetable's caponata and risolee potatoes Chicken carrousel, stuffed chicken breast with provolone cheese and prosciutto in a Basil creamy sauce Fish Sir Richard, coconut crusted in a creamy peanuts sauce Desserts Exotic fruits plate served with coconut sherbet and honey Crepes suzzet Alaska served with a vanilla ice cream coop
  5. I think these are soooo cute! I also like the wording! You did a great job & your BM's should love them. Had I needed something like this I definitely would've "borrowed" your idea!

I advised my guests of the welcome dinner by stating that Hubby & I wanted to welcome them to Jamaica & also told them it would be a good way for them to get acquainted with each other. I never told them it was mandatory & I had it early enough so that it didn't interfere with anything they wanted to do with the rest of their night. Everyone showed up, I passed out their oot bags & then after dinner some of us hung out together & watched the nightly entertainment, while the rest of the guests went & did their own thing. There are lots of options that won't have you imposing on your guests time. You don't necessarily have to have a welcome dinner. You can have a welcome breakfast, lunch, or you can have welcome drinks/cocktail hour at one of the bars.

  14. Quote: Originally Posted by FoxyBride Wait, people are supposed to RSVP for STDs too? I thought that was just with the invite. I guess that would cut down on invites and if they are $5+ each that could be good. LOL...Well, I did ask my guests to rsvp with the STD. That way, I had more of a head count & would know what I was dealing with in terms of making air/hotel reservations. Also, I sent out a letter with the air/hotel rates with the STD's so people knew how much the entire trip would cost. Being that we had our guests booking together as a group, it was important that we had some type of estimate & we knew who was in & who was out. Thats mainly why we asked for rsvp's when I sent out the STD's. And yes, early rsvp's certainly helped when it came down to sending invites. Even though mine were DIY, I didn't overspend when it came to the materials that I used & helped. It also helped me in general with knowing how large my wedding related projects would be, in terms of how many oot bags I would potentialy have to make, the amount of items I'd put in them, how many raffia fans I'd have to make, how many favors I'd need...the list goes on. Early numbers were important for me & it really does all add up!
  15. We sent STD's to everyone & then only sent invites to those who rsvp'd yes, and then actually booked to come to the wedding. Is that something that you think you could consider doing? That way, once your rsvp's start rolling in & people actually start booking, you know exactly how many invites you need & you can send the nice, intricate invites only to those people who will attend.
  16. The bridal salon gave me my dress stuffed with tons of paper & I had it in 2 garment bags during my travels. I got lucky & the airline did let me hang the dress in the 1st class closet so that definitely minizmized any wrinkling. When I got to the resort, I just hung my dress in the closet. I don't even remember checking to see if it was wrinkled. I guess that was from the excitement of being there. Anyway, when I did go to put it on, nothing was wrong with it at all. I definitely think the stuffing helped keep its shape. If you can, I'd try stuffing it and make sure to hang it as soon as you arrive. Had it been wrinkled I think I'd just had to have dealt with it. I'm not sure I could've managed to not worry if I had to give Chandlyn the dress to have it steamed.
  17. You certainly do not look pale & sick in any of these pics. You both look extremely happy. They came out wonderful!

Initially it was said that you did not have to use the resort photographer & that you could bring in an outside photographer, but they have to be a guest of yours & stay at the resort. If they do not stay at the resort, then they have to have a day pass. Since then, some ROR brides have had problems with bringing outside photographers. If this is something that you are thinking about doing, I strongly suggest that you ask Chandlyn, or the Director of Wedding Sales, what their policy is regarding using an outside photographer. If they advise you that you can have an outside photographer, then make sure to keep that email for future refernce and in case you have any problems when you arrive.
  19. Not sure if you need a packing list, but see if this helps: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t14714 And here's a thread where Yari posted her task list: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t23302
  20. We did speeches when we were at the disco. We did it right before the disco opened up to the general public. I don't know why we waited that long, but in retrospect it was a nice way to end the night & to thank everyone for celebrating with us. Then we went back to partying I'd do them whenever you felt that the time was right.
  21. $265?!?!? GREAT DEAL!!! The dress looks pretty in the pic. Can't wait to see ya in it.
  22. Very, very nice! As everyone has said, you look great in green & those shoes are just really hot!
