  1. Did you search the Jamaica threads or even the Wedding Review threads? I know there are a few brides who just came back from ROR & they posted pics. Not sure if they all have pro pics but here are a few that I found: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t29236 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t30256 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t30644 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t16213
  2. You're definitely right in that many of us have gone through the exact same thing with friends & family. While it sucks now & you're hurt, trust me, in time, you will get over it. It may not be easy and you will probably never forget this, but you'll see, it will pass. I've learned that while weddings bring out the best in people, they also bring out the worst in people. People will show you sides of themselves that you never knew they even had, even your "best" friends. You will be absolutely amazed. You will also get an indication of exactly who your friends really are. Sometimes, you'll even become closer with friends/family that you weren't too close with before because they will be there for you. Lastly, on your trip & especially your wedding day, you won't even give these people who didn't show up, a second thought. You'll be wrapped up in the people that thought you were special enough that they made the sacrifice & traveled with you. I hope you feel better about it soon!
  3. Isn't this crazy? I heard that there could be a few flurries today but I really hope it doesn't make its way to NYC. I am sooo not ready for SNOW!
  4. Welcome back Leia!!! Your hair was beautiful...love both styles. Your parents looked very nice & the FG was just adorable. And thats so sweet that grandma was able to go to Cabo. Thanks for giving us a few pics & glad that you had a wonderful time!!! Can't wait to see your pro pics.

Yeah, you are soo right! And really we were lucky that she had a nice agent. She explained that it was for my wedding, etc, and at least they gave her the option to check the bag & didn't make her throw away the set.

With all of the rushing around that we do before we leave, no one ever probably thinks to tell the person to check the bag or carry it on, or even whats in the bag. I know she was a mess when they stopper her!!! When security told her about the knife I know she was thinking "KNIFE" What knife I didn't tell anyone what was in the bags...just told them it was "stuff". So I'm sure she wasn't expecting that at all. But again, I KNOW that I told them all to check the bags....sigh....I guess they probably figured it was easier to carry them on.
  7. With sooo many things to bring to a DW such as OOT bags, favors, ceremony decorations, many of us give our friends/family some of our extra luggage to bring for us. If you are giving your friends/family some of your luggage to bring to your DW, make sure that you tell them if they should check the baggage or carry it on. I know that baggage is expensive to check in now & some may carry the bags on but either way please remember to tell them whats in the luggage that you give them & let them know what they should do with it. I was talking to our daughter last night & she reminded me how I almost got MIL arrested! Well not really arrested, but pretty much detained for a few minutes. The morning that we left for Jamaica, we dropped off 2 bags to both of our parents & had them bring them down with them since they were coming the next day. Now, although it was about 3am when we dropped the luggage off, I could've SWORN that I told our parents to CHECK the bags. My MIL did not check the bags I gave her and tried to get on the plane with our cake knife set IN HER BAG!!!!! Needless to say, security was alarmed when the bag went through the scanner. My MIL, mom, & daughter didn't know what was going on! They pulled her aside & went through the bags & found the cake knife set. Ofcourse they told her that she could not get on the plane with that & they proceeded to take the bag & made her check it. So now the running joke is that I tried to get MIL arrested so that she couldn't make it to the wedding! Ofcourse, I'd NEVER do any such thing! LOL Just make sure that you give people instructions on what to do with any luggage you give them & definitely tell them whats inside of the bags...just in case!
  8. Welcome back! Beautiful pictures. I like the jewelry that you wore, especially the necklace & earrings It was a very nice touch. I love the ceremony setup too, the blue flowers on the aisle & on the arch was amazing! And the wallpaper TTD pic is just tooooo hot.
  9. I think that we had about 6 to 8 bags total. We each checked 2 bags & each carried on 1 bag. The morning that we left, we dropped off 2 bags to each of our parents & they brought them down with them. No one paid any extra baggage fee's & it worked perfectly. Since our parents came the day after us we were still able to assemble the OOT bags before the rest of the guests came. On the way back, we had sooo many empty bags that it was hilarious. So, we basically packed bags within bags & then checked those. We didn't have a problem doing that. Luckily we got married before all of these crazy fee's for checked baggage. Is it possible for you to put any of your bags, inside of other bags on the way back so that you don't have to pay any additional fee's? If you can, I'd definitely ask family members to take any bags for you.
  10. Your hard work really paid off & you did a great job with these!. I also love the little touch of bling.
  11. Beautiful! Your smile in the pic shows that you really love the dress. And congrats on losing the 10lbs! Oh, did ya find the birdcage veil yet? Love the new avatar & siggy Abbie!!!
  12. Thanks for the review Morgan. I'll definitely use Shutterfly for the albums that I have left to make for other family members. I used MyPublisher for our personal wedding album & loved the outcome but Shutterfly may be more cost effective for the other albums that I have to make. I also can't wait for your review of Mpix.
  13. I hope you are having the time of your life!!! Can't wait till you get back with all the details.
  14. Thanks for sharing this Morgan, its good to knowl!! Definitely keep us updated.
  15. Beautiful Yari! I love the candlelight dinner & your colors were amazing...especially the turquoise & chocolate brown!!!
  16. I love your examples! Thanks Sarah, Mel & Morgan. And thanks Alyssa for sharing the wording. Boy have I got work to do.

I will definitely mention this to him and see if that sways him at all! Ok, I understand completely! The sand issue is one of the reasons that I didn't use Seagrape myself. Some of my friends thought I was crazy for wanting to party in the sand. Did you consider the disco? Maybe you could have MB & then rent out the disco. You'd still be saving $ compared to renting the Plantation for the entire night. Then again, I'm not sure if the costs have increased for next year, but I guess if you're going to pay to use the disco, then you may as well pay for the Plantation and use it for everything. I'm sure you guys will figure it out! Either way, make sure you book as soon as possible. You know with up to 4 weddings per day, things get booked rather quickly!
  18. Honestly, I loved Mammee Bay. I had my reception there & if I had it to do all over again, I wouldn't have changed a thing. The food was great as was the service. My guests & I didn't even notice the other people in Mammee Bay. We were in our own little world. Hubby & I really didn't mind that our reception was "semi" private because it felt private. We went to the disco after & we had a great time there. My whole time at ROR, I think I only ate at the Plantation once & the lunch that I had there did not compare to my dinner at Mammee Bay. It was good, but I wouldn't say it was better than MB. So based on this, I'd save the $ and go with MB. My one regret is that I only ate at MB once. We didn't want to eat there before the wedding & ruin the reception experience, but after the wedding dinner being so good, I definitely wished that I could have gone more than once. As for the bonfire, I think your older guests would still enjoy it because its something different. Are you planning to have tables & chairs set up at Seagrape so that the older guests could sit & relax while enjoying the entertainment? About how many guests are you having & which are you really leaning towards MB or Plantation?
  19. This is a great thread and it gives me another photo project to do! LOL Ok, so now my question is, what kinda picture do we use? Since we've never done this I don't even know what to wear or where/how to take them. Shelley brought up santa hats. Any other suggestions? I don't want to use a wedding related picture since I sent out photo thank you cards. Right now we're in the middle of renovations so taking them in the house is definitely a no-go.
  20. Congrats & welcome to BDW Tracy! You're in the right place & you will find alot of info on Jamaica & ROR here. There are a ton of reviews & pictures. As a ROR bride I can tell you that we had a great time there. Happy planning!
  21. Oh, great reminder....going to www.donotcall.gov right now! I hope this does the same thing.
  22. We both cried too. I blame him for making me cry because I was fine until we were standing there & I looked at him and he got teary. Ofcourse, that made me start crying...then what do you know my mom & a few other guests started crying too! The minister had to take a moment & stop speaking for everyone to pull themselves together! LOL It was sooo funny to look through our pictures & see how everyone was crying at the same time! I had totally told everyone that I was not going to cry & I couldn't help it! I also cried at the end of the night as we thanked our guests for coming. And even today, I get teary everytime I hear the song that I walked down the aisle too as well as when I hear our first dance song.
  23. Welcome to BDW Kimmer & congrats on being a ROR bride! You & your guests will definitely love ROR. If you have any last minute planning to do, you're definitely in the right place!
  24. Hmmm, the day before the wedding was a Thursday & we pretty much just hung out at the resort but thats mainly because that was the day that most of our guests arrived to Jamaica. They got acquainted with the resort that day & we had our welcome dinner that night. Our wedding was on a Friday & we did Dunn's River the day after the wedding, on Saturday. I'm not sure I'd suggest doing DR the day before the wedding because many of my guests talked about how sore they were the next day & how it was such a workout! A group of the guys even woke up early the day after & went to the hot tub to ease their achy legs. I don't think you want sore, achy guests on the day of the wedding. What you do on that day I think all depends on how many days your guests are going to be there. If you don't want to do DR the day after the wedding then I'd definitely do it on Thursday as opposed to Friday.
