Obama Inauguration: Tickets, Hotels, and Everything Else I'm now thinking of holding a small get together for friends and family so we can watch this as I highly doubt we can we attend (as much as I would love to attend). I'd LOVE to go...not sure if we'd be able to swing it either considering the hotel prices so far...we may have to just have people come over as well!
  2. I'm definitely in the minority here...hubby's ring is something like #2. Since my e-ring & wedding band are a set & the bands have a wavy/curvy shape, he decided that he wanted to get something that kinda matched mine. We looked at rings similar to #1 but then we ran across #2. He was worried about it not being "masculine" enough, but he liked how it looked on his hand so he went for it. Let me know if you want to see a pic of how it looks & I can send it to you. I definitely suggest going ring shopping & having him try some on. That will be the best way to figure out which he likes best!
  3. I'm no help but I don't remember there being an ipod hookup for the CD player. We used the CD player but just gave Chandlyn 1 CD, which we burned, with all of our songs on it, in order. And yes, the CD player was loud enough for everyone to hear. You may have to send Chandlyn an email about this one!
  4. When I went to the polls yesterday, I had to take a picture of my vote. Through out the day, I kept looking at my phone and smiling. Then I spoke to my mother & she told me that my 90 yr old grandmother "rocked her vote" too! I think I smiled all day at that thought. Last night was absolutely amazing. I don't think we slept more than 3 hours. We went to dinner with friends to watch the results & everyone was glued to the tv. On the way home, people were honking there horns & cheering. When we got home, I just couldn't sleep. I didn't want to go to sleep & wake up & realize that I was dreaming. I know that this is a day that I will never forget & I hope that for my children & in the future, that this will be something that is more common so to speak...that having an African-American president is only the beginning of "firsts" for our nation.
  5. Best wishes Karma! We'll all be waiting to see baby Hannah!!!
  6. They had these kids on Good Morning America today. It was amazing to see how kids this young are so interested in this election. They seemed more informed than some adults that I know.
  7. Congrats Martha!!! He's such a cutie & I love all the cute outfits! Enjoy your new bundle of joy!

I don't think it was more than 30 minutes, maybe even say 20. My MOH came down the aisle, then the FG, then me. Then the minister said a few words, there was a prayer, vows, sand ceremony, signed the papers....done! So without the sand ceremony, it will def be maybe 15-20 mins.

So pack your bags we need to be at the airport in 1 hour!!" He was soo excited & we had a wonderful time! I think that the change of scenery was good for FI and I too!!! As far as an update with our situation, I don't really have one. We kinda took a break from all of our "talking". I've noticed that I'm not really stressing anymore. This is the man of my life. We are in love. Things will work out. Maybe I won't have the lavish wedding I envisioned but I'll have the man I envisioned and I'll take that! That was a cool surprise! It sounds like you both needed a break & you had a great time in Vegas. Great that you're not stressed out & I totally love your attitude with what you said!!! Good luck!!!
  10. HAPPY BDAY TAMMY!!! HOPE YOU HAD A GREAT DAY!
  11. Congrats Tara!! Nice to hear that you had the day of your dreams. Can't wait to see pics! Enjoy the rest of your time.

It's just a security precaution in the event that you cancel in an untimely manner or like you said, you don't show up. You pay for everything at your meeting with Chandlyn!
  13. I had the religious ceremony. Chandlyn sent their vow wording but we wanted to write our own so we did & I had a friend do the reading of the sand ceremony. Your ceremony can be done how you like it. If you don't like the vow wording that they provide, you can change it. They are very open to changing anything that you want. Just have everything printed out-vows, readings, etc, when you arrive & give it to Chandlyn at your meeting. She will give all instructions to the officiant. The ceremony itself was short & the officiant/minister bascially just said a few things about the importance of marriage....He wasn't long winded & didn't say anything off the cuff! Everyone thought he did a great job.
  14. I think they do come to your room. I saw some BDW reviews where the bride had her hair done while in her room. That may be something that you can do to save time as well, not sure if its an additional cost though. I made my appt the day that I arrived instead of booking online. Also, I washed & blow dried my hair before I went there, just to save time. Also remember that the actual salon is pretty small. They only have 2 stations set aside for hair & then an area for mani/pedi's. So the less people in there at 1 time, the better you'll be! Oh, you said you're wedding is at 11am & you were thinking of leaving your room at 10? That may be a tad too early. Mine was at 4pm & I don't think Chandlyn came to get me till practically 4! She may have even come at 3:45, but I know it wasn't too early though & I had to walk all the way from building 3/Plantation side of the resort to the other end of the resort where they have the beach ceremonies.
  15. You did a wonderful job with everything...all of your DIY projects are amazing. I also love the ceremony set up & the idea of having reception canopy's. Your guests are going to love everything & I'm sure your pics are gonna be great!! I can't wait till you return to see pics!
  16. Welcome to BDW Kayce & congrats on being a ROR bride. As a past ROR bride, I'm sure that you will love ROR. There are plenty of ROR wedding reviews & pictures. Just check out the Jamaica part of the forum, or do a search for ROR & you will find lots of info! Congrats again & happy planning!

  18. Beautiful pics Leia!! Love the pic with the closeup of you...the makeup, your hair, the flower...too pretty! It really looked like a picture perfect day.
  19. I don't think its too fancy for the beach at all! I think its beautiful & fits you perfectly!
  20. It really sounds like you've had one stressful year. I don't have any words of wisdom except to tell you that it will get better. I wish I could tell you when, but unfortunately, I can't. I also wish that you knew the reason that all of this was happening. Maybe its to show you that you & FI are stronger than you ever imagined. Regardless, know that everything happens for a reason. One thing that does come across is how much you & FI love each other. You said that you're trying to please soo many people. Well, now seems like a good time to concentrate on yourself. Instead of calling the wedding off, is it possible that you could reorganize? If you think that you're going to have less guests than you originally expected, can you change your package? Then maybe you can reorganize things to accomodate a smaller group & not have to have the $10,000 consumption? Have you even considered going with a different resort, thats less expensive? I'm sure you probably have the resort of your dreams, but I'm trying to think of anything that would prevent you from calling the wedding off altogether, especially if thats not what you want. My last suggestion would be to elope. Forget about all the stress & your guests who can't put down deposits in a timeful manner, and forget about pleasing everyone else! Run off, just you & FI, together and get married! Whatever you do, I do hope that it all works out.
  21. Yes, your wedding party is seated separately from the rest of the guests in the restaurant. You're kinda tucked away in your own little area. You will have plenty of privacy & the other guests will not be able to hear you. You will have a wonderful time at Mammee Bay! Also, definitely search the Jamaica threads & look at other ROR wedding reviews. You'll probably come across pics of receptions at Mammee Bay.
  22. Your pics are AMAZING!!! Really, everything was beautiful. Your dress, the birdcage veil & flower in your hair, the BM dresses, the flowers/colors & the ceremony location....all gorgeous!!! The smiles from you & your guests definitely show that you guys had a wonderful time. Congrats!
