Help needed- looking for Chuppa pics!
JUSTUSTWO replied to JenniferSS's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I had this bookmarked from when I was looking for inspiration pics. Maybe you could use different colored fabric for the colors that you're looking for. It's an older thread but hopefully this will help you a little bit: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t15191 -
RMB Brides: Tours & Excursions
JUSTUSTWO replied to KellyG24's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
If you are looking to arrange a group tour you could always contact Lee's tours. I know many of us Jamaica brides used them for transportation & group tours. Maybe their prices are less than the other vendor that you have. If you do a search here, you'll probably find some reviews of Lee's. You can send them an email for pricing & you should hear from Norma rather quickly. Here's their website: Welcome to Lees Taxi and Tours Jamaica by Lees Elite Travel & Tours Ltd., Taxi and Tours in Jamaica, Jamaica Taxi and Tours - www.leestaxiandtoursjamaica.com - [email protected] -
Riu Brides...bringing own music...

Or do they just play the CD continuously through the entire ceremony? Thanks for any info! If you want, you could have a few songs to play as the guests are being seated, just for entertainment, then you could have the song that you're walking down the aisle to and then 1 for the end of the ceremony. I really only had 3 songs. 1 that DH used for himself as he walked to the altar & the guests sat, then a song that played as my MOH, FG & I walked. And then a song for the end of the ceremony. The sand ceremony is really after your vows & still in the middle of your actual ceremony. A friend did our reading so we didn't have music playing during that, but if you wanted to you could but it may be hard to hear over. The WC will cue the music when its time for your bridal party & you to walk. If there's any other music to be played, you'll have to tell her when you want it played. My one suggestion would be, if you are going to have a few songs playing as the guests are being seated & before you walk down the aisle, put the song that you're walking to on a separate disc so that there is NO confusion!!! Also label each disc accordingly...bridal party music, bride's music, etc. I've read in more than 1 review where the WC got the music wrong. -

Ultimate TV Question: DirectTV or Comcast?

We just got rid of Direct TV & switched to Cablevision. So far so good. Hubby doesn't like Cablevision but thats cuz he's been so used to DTV and cuz he's anxiously awaiting Verizon/Fios. I however LOVE it! As mentioned above, I COULD NOT TAKE the outages with DTV. A little bit of rain or a gust of wind & no satelite service. With Cablevision, we don't have to worry about that so I'd take Cablevision anyday over DTV. As soon as Fios is availalbe, we'll be making the switch! Also, Cablevision offered the current package/special which is cable, internet & phone for $99 but we didn't get that. -

You will have to get clarification from Chandlyn as to whether or not you are permitted to use outside photographers. It seems that the policy regarding outside photographers has changed here & there. At one time, if you wanted to go with a local photographer, he/she needed a day pass to be on the premises the day of your wedding. If you bring a photographer from outside of the state, the photographer will have to be a guest of yours. Again, definitely check with Chandlyn regarding their policy!

Don't worry about it at all!!! I can relate & definitely agree with everyone else. Either go to a beach near you or do it on your next vacation. I plan on doing this the next time we go on vacation, especially if it happens to be for our 1 year anniversary & we return to Jamaica. Granted, it won't be with my wedding dress, but it will be something cute & flowy and I'll probably just use the resort photographer! BTW....LOVEEEEEEE your avatar & siggy pic....JUST GORGEOUS!

BDW brides have used a memory candle & someone did DIY memory candles & was able to put their loved one's picture on it. Another did a bouquet jewel such as a mini picture frame with a picture of the person. If you are going to have a ceremony program printed, you could even put a section in there where you remember your loved ones & then just say a few words about them. Those are just a few ideas that I've seen here on BDW. -

I did send notarized copies of our passports & they came out fine but I had it done at Staples. Did you make the copies yourself? If so maybe it was just a fluke & you should try Kinko's or Staples. The only thing that they will tell you is that they aren't allowed to give you color copies of your passport, which is fine. Also, I did send notarized copies of our birth certificates & we did not get those back when we met with her, so I'm thinking that she does keep them.

I think the free package is definitely worth it...We too had originally chosen the Royal Package & then switched to the Free package when we got there. It made more sense for us to go with that & then get our upgrades & it was much more cost effective. Here are some threads that discuss the free package vs other options: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t13778 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t26848

What should I do next?
JUSTUSTWO replied to bashigyal's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I agree with Carla & think that while 6 weeks is around the corner, you do have time to get the things done that you have left. If you do a few things on your list each weekend, time permitted, you should be good! I think what you need to prioritize depends on how many guests you have. For instance, if you have lots of guests, you may want to make sure you get your seating chart in order. -

Riu MoBay and Ocho Rios photographer question

Anyway, hubby feels that it wasn't worth the $ and we could've skipped it!! Its a cookie cutter video really. If having the ceremony on dvd is impt to you, then get it. But if you can really do without it then skip it. I'm sure I didn't help you...LOL. -

I figure the fewer things I have to worry about on that day the better. What is your actual wedding schedule? What happens after your ceremony? Is their a cocktail hour? Are you going to be taking pictures or something while your guests are doing something else? If so, maybe you won't need the DJ at that point & can hold off until its time for dancing. For instance my ceremony was at 4pm, the dinner reception was at 6:30pm, and then the dancing part of the reception where I paid for & had the DJ was from 9pm to 11pm. At 11pm the disco opened up to the general public. So my guests were dancing from 9pm til about 2am when the disco closed. I know you said its something you don't want to have to worry about, but maybe you could put some songs on a disc, or use an Ipod & have that playing to entertain the guests until its actually time for dancing. Then you'd get a full 5 hours out of the DJ. Maybe you could designate someone trustworthy to be in charge of the Ipod for you....giving you 1 less thing to worry about!

ROR - The Weather & What to Do?!!!
JUSTUSTWO replied to sportsdog2's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
If you check out some ROR wedding reviews, you'll find that it did rain on a few ceremonies. In some cases, the ceremony was delayed and once the rain passed, the ceremony began. In other cases where it was a downpour & the rain did not let up, the ceremony was moved inside to Mammee Bay. If you really want the 4pm time slot, I'd stick with it. Who's to say that it won't rain at 11am and be sunny & beautiful at 4pm? Just plan accordingly and have something prepared in the event that it does rain. Chandlyn seemed to have come through in the instances of rain & I'm sure you can work out a great plan B with her. Depending on the availability, you could use Mammee Bay or the Planatation. -
Tulle, Chair Covers & Sashes - ROR
JUSTUSTWO replied to sportsdog2's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
At the meeting with Chandlyn, you usually pick out your color options. She didn't really have any type of color chart or catalog for you to look in to pick from. Maybe she had one, but she never offered one & I never asked. I told her the color that I wanted for the sashes, she said she had it & I really didn't see it until the day of the wedding. Our colors were aqua & coral/orange, so we had white chair covers & orange sashes. I'm not 100% sure but I think that the chair covers are only in white. In terms of the tulle, I've seen pics of blue, and white, maybe even orange. The only way that you'll probably really find out whats available is by sending Chandlyn an email & asking her if she has the colors that you want. Hope that helps! -

A few weeks before we left, I sent a Pre-Travel/Welcome to Jamaica Packet. In that I included our weekend itinerary, which included the welcome dinner. I also had a welcome note card that I put in the OOT bags, which again reminded them about the welcome dinner. The note cards said something like "We would like to take the time to welcome you to Jamaica. Please join us for dinner at St.Ann's restaurant on Thursday, April 10th at 7:30 pm".

You are farrrrr too nice to have given Lissette a C. The tone of your review is that she didn't care enough to get things right or she just doesn't know her job.
