  1. Here are some threads that I found that had STD letter examples: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t8131 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t5731 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t3031 Hope that helps!
  2. I think on page 4 of this thread, someone provided contact info for a baker. Not sure if anyone else has tried that particular baker but you could always ask for a quote: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t19423 I had the free cake & we loved it! One tier was filled with strawberrys & the other was chocolate. It was more than enough for our 30 guests. If you have your heart set on a rum cake then go for it. In the same thread above someone mentioned that they got half regular & half rum. Maybe thats an option as well. Oh, I knew that someone had just returned from ROR & commented on their rum cake. I found the thread: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t35526 She said the rum cake was pretty good. You could always ask her for more info!
  3. Wow...very impressive! Your planning thread was amazingly detailed & you did a wonderful job with every aspect of the wedding. Your guests will love everything! I too loveeeeeeee the idea of the locked box & the key for the BD album. Since I have yet to do mine I may have to borrow that idea from you!
  4. Some of my family members who don't travel out of their state much less the country, did have some negative things to say about us getting married in JA. When one mentioned that she was afraid of something happening to her in JA I told her that the reality is that some crime is everywhere & that she watched too much TV & JA wasn't any more threatening than anything that could happen to her at home or in her own neighborhood. I told the "nay-sayers" that this was our decision, it was a done deal & they could either come & celebrate with us or they could stay home. Well ofcourse they shut up after that & I didn't hear anymore about it. The good thing was that our parents, as well as other family & friends who travel alot were not concerned at all about anything bad happening to them in JA and thankfully we had no bad incidences while we were there. If it helps, maybe you should show them some positive JA wedding reviews from BDW brides or visit other travel sites that also have good reviews. Either way, if you have your mind made up about JA & its really what you & your FI want, then go with it. People will complain no matter what location you chose and since you can't make everyone happy, just concentrate on making yourself happy. Sorry if I sound too harsh, but thats just my 2 cents! LOL!
  5. Congrats on a wonderful wedding! Your pics are beautiful & it looks like you had a great time. Love your dress, the flowers & the colors. I also like the pic of holding your rings in the sand. That was very cute. The TTD pics are beautiful as well!

  7. Congrats & Welcome back! Glad to hear that everything was amazing! Thanks for the review & can't wait for the pics!
  8. In terms of the menu, you should definitely be able to get that info from your WC. If the restaurant that you're having your reception at has 1 standard menu that is used for all weddings, then have her send that to you & you can use that in your invites. Also, do you know if the entree's will be served to each guest or is it buffet style? You may want to find that out & include that as well. As for decorations, I gave all that I had to my WC & she set it up. However, I suggest having a backup plan especially if you have a specific vision for your day! To make sure that nothing gets misplaced or forgotten, you should designate a reliable friend or family member to make sure that everything is set up as you instructed. This helps in case the WC drops the ball or forgets to do something that you wanted. When you're meeting with the WC to discuss details of your day, I'd have that backup person there at the meeting too so that they know what you want & how you want anything set up.
  9. Andrea, everything looks great! You did a great job with all of your DIY projects!! I'm sure that you & your guests will have wonderful time on the cruise & your wedding day will be amazing! I know you don't leave for a few more days but have a wonderful trip & can't wait for your return with your review & pics!
  10. These threads should help you: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t29986 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t23731 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t24290

  13. I'm sure you'll have an amazing time! Enjoy every moment!!!
  14. Everything looks great! We did the Destiny on Carnival, the same itinerary too & loved it! I'm sure that you'll have a wonderful time! Congrats & can't wait for the pics!

  16. Sorry for all the bad news that has come your way & really sorry to hear about your grandmother. Unfortuantely there's bound to be some drama in any DW & I think that the average bride does experience some rough patches when planning which really sucks. But don't take any of this as a sign that you're not meant to get married in 15 days & certainly don't let any of that stop you from being excited & happy about whats to come! Instead just focus on the fact that your wedding day will go on as planned & be wonderful, regardless of who makes it & who doesn't! Afterall, as long as u & FI are there, thats really all that matters! Everything will work itself out!

  19. The DJ at ROR played a variety of music, but mostly R & B, hip hop, & reggae and current songs that you would hear on the radio. If you're using the DJ for your reception, you can definitely tell him or give him a playlist of the music that you want to hear. You can even make your own cd's & he'll play them.
  20. These are the ones that I used. As mentioned, you can get them at Target, CVS or even Dollar Tree. Product Detail: Johnson & Johnson First Aid To Go Kit 12 Items from CVS/pharmacy Online Product Store They were very conveinent & for .99 cents each, the price was great. I just added stuff like Tylenol & Immodium packets, and chapstick. I then used one of the labels posted here & put those on the front.
  21. to BDW Shannon. Congrats on being a ROR bride! You'll find lots of helpful info here. Just be sure to check out the Jamaica part of the forum & you'll find lots of reviews & pics of ROR. Happy planning!

Just take a stroll on the beach a few days before your wedding, at that exact time & I'm sure you'll find out. In terms of the alterations question, my seamstress advised that I have my fittings with my heels. Actually when I first ordered my dress, the measurements that they took were based on the height of my heels. So I'm guessing that its best if you go with your heels. Thats just my opinion!

Plenty of BDW brides have done that. As a matter of fact, it may wind up costing you less in JA because since you're already married, I guess you'd be "renewing your vows". Definitely take a look at their site & see how the fees differ. This is what was on Riu's site: http://www.weddingsbyriu.com/index.php What documents are required to get legally married? Jamaica: Notarized copies of Birth Certificate Notarized copies of Passports or driver’s license Notarized copies of divorce papers (if applicable) Notarized copies of death certificate (if applicable) Notorized Documents stating name changes (if applicable) Notarized, written parental consents (if under 21 years of age) Renewal of vows in Jamaica:These ceremonies are a blessing. However, in Jamaica, you need to send us a photocopy of the Marriage Certificate. *All documents have to be notarized and presented in English 30 days prior to the ceremony What are the differences between Civil, Religious and Renewal of Vows? Jamaica: Civil and Religious ceremonies are performed by a Minister. Both are legally recognized. If the ceremony is Civil the Minister will not mention God. Renewal of vows are also performed by a Minister but they do not have legal bearing. *Please notice that in Jamaica we do not perform Catholic ceremonies. Also, this is what it states in regards to your JA wedding being legal in the US: Are the Civil weddings performed at RIU Hotels & Resorts legal in my country? I would like to inform you that the Civil weddings are legally recognized in the country where the wedding will be performed. As each country has specific requirements, we would recommend you to contact your respective Embassy or Consulate in order to get the complete information regarding the procedure that you have to follow in order to legalize your Marriage Certificate in your own country. NOTE: Europeans citizens getting legally married in the Dominican Republic and Jamaica will need to get an Apostille. Riu hotel is not responsable of this legal procedure. However, in case that you require the on-site wedding coordinator´s assistence, you will need to to cover the fees of the paperwork and delivery.
  24. I honestly don't even remember why I initially chose ROR. I think I just started reading reviews of resorts in Jamaica & it seemed like this one had some good reviews at the time plus the property itself was just beautiful. Also, it was fairly new & we like to visit resorts that are new. Once I joined BDW & began doing research & was able to see pics & read wedding reviews, that ultimately sealed the deal. Then I realized how economical it was going to be for the wedding itself (the free package was rare as compared to most of the other resorts) & for my guests so the value was a definite plus. After being there I know I made the right decision & wouldn't have done anything differently!
