Yes, ROR provides you with beach towels. When you check in, you will be given a beach towel card. When you go to the beach, you'll go to the towel "hut", turn in your card & get a towel. In order to get your card back, you'll have to turn the towel back in at the end of the day. You do this everyday & anytime you want fresh towels. My group never had a problem & we were usually given as many towels as we asked for. I've heard before that they are only supposed to give out 2 towels per person. When you check out, you must turn the card back in or allegedly they charge you some type of fee.

Is anyone a member of Disney Vacation Club?
JUSTUSTWO replied to August2010Bride's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
We were members for 1 year, but have since re-sold. DH thought it was a great idea to join thinking that it was a $ saver. I was very hesitant & didn't want to join but it was useful as we used our first set of points for our Hawaii HM. But the more I thought about it, I kept telling him that it just wasn't necessary. For one, I'm the type that doesn't like to be told where I have to stay when I go on vacation. I like to do my own research & find my own accomodations. As you know, going with a timeshare, you're limited to staying at the resorts that they are affiliated with. But what happens when the 1 or 2 resorts that they have aren't to your liking or the reviews are less than favorable? Then you're stuck! KWIM? Yes, you can possibly stay at another resort by exchanging your points, But what happens when that resort isnt available? Second, the point system was a downside. Peak time, vs off peak time, length of the vacation where longer vacations & nicer resorts equals more points, it was all a bit much. We thought it would be useful for planning vacations with both of our families but as you know, the larger the accomodations that you need, the more points you have to have. So, long story short, we got out. I know this sounds like a negative review, but its just my honset opinion & our story. Initially it sounded like a great opportunity & a big money saver. In reality, it just didn't work out the way we that we had planned & we found that we would not be using it the way that we thought we would. -
Awww Jaime, you'll be fine! If this is the first wedding related "freakout" that you've had, with 3 months to go, I'd say you were good! I probably had more than a few breakdowns during my planning and can recall many outbursts of crying. And no, DH didn't understand exactly why I was crying & really didn't know what he was supposed to do! He did listen & knew that it was all wedding stress so that did help. But like you, I felt funny going to him about it. Anyway, don't worry. Like you said, you've had alot going on lately & you should just chalk this is up to normal, wedding stress, that unfortunately, brides get the pleasure of experiencing!!! Danielle's suggestion was great regarding making a list of things to do so you know exactly where you're at. Everything will fall into place soon enough. Finish your wine, get all the crying out & start fresh tomorrow!

Anyone "Jumping the Broom"??
JUSTUSTWO replied to BillysBride's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I really like that idea Savannah! It is sooo not cheesy & it would work perfectly. I also love how the broom came out. You'll definitely have to post pics when you're done decorating it. It will make a nice keepsake for you to bring back home. I can't believe you kept the fab four from us all of this time!!! How could you?? They are adorable! -
ROR Semi Private Dinner -vs- Private Reception
JUSTUSTWO replied to Fonte's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
As far as I know, you can only rent the disco from 9pm to 11pm & it would be private. It opens up to the rest of the public at 11pm. At the time of my wedding, it was $250 and the DJ/open bar/bartender was included. I believe it is more than $250 now. It may be $250 p/hour, not really sure. You should check with Chandlyn regarding 2009 pricing. -
Welcome to BDW & congrats on being a ROR bride! Happy planning.

ROR Semi Private Dinner -vs- Private Reception
JUSTUSTWO replied to Fonte's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
Here are some threads that may help you out. Definitely do a search for anything with ROR in it & you should find more information as well as the latest wedding reviews. I went with the Semi-Private reception at Mammee Bay & used the Disco and we really loved both. Many other ROR brides have gone with the free Semi-Private reception and Disco as well and enjoyed it. The prices for the Disco have changed for 2009 so you may have to send an email to Chandlyn for the exact pricing or maybe you'll find that info in the threads below. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t33547 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t35120 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t34017 -

Leaving in the morning
JUSTUSTWO replied to Angel's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Congratulations Angel. Have a wonderful trip & an amazing wedding day!!!! Can't wait for your return with your review & pics! -
I used Vista Print & got folded note cards for free. I just uploaded our monogram & used that as the design for the face of the card & then wrote a welcome note on the inside of the card. I was very happy with them & couldn't beat that they were free. If you were looking for something smaller than the folded note card, you could always try using their business cards or the small postcards.

I didn't even think about taking extra supplies with me & luckily they were fine when we arrived. Your day is right around the corner. You must be excited! I pretty much did the same thing. Bought flowers from Micheals. Cut off each bud & then attached it to the handle by bending the wire around the handle. You have to do this carefully because you don't want the wire to come thru the ribbon once you start wrapping. I then used glue dots to secure the ribbon as I started wrapping it around the handle. Once I got it how I wanted, I cut the end of the ribbon & then tucked it under the last wrapped part & then used another glue dot to secure that. I used the smallest size glue dots & it worked very well. I do like the hot glue idea-seems it may have been easier! I think there's a pic of the finished product in the link to my planning thread in my siggy.

Air conditioning on bus transfers to ROR?
JUSTUSTWO replied to krista's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
We booked private transfers with Lee's Tours for us & our guests. Their buses were air conditioned. I would think that since its so hot in JA that most buses would be. But then again, you never know! -

Thanks I didn't have any problems packing the raffia fans at all. I just stacked them on top of each other neatly, put them inside a plastic shopping bag & then laid them flat in the luggage. If you get them, I think you'll be fine.

My BFF wants to bring her on/off a-hole BF *LONG*

If it is going to really bother you to have him there; then talk to her about it. As your BFF, she should respect your wishes and understand. I agree with this! I also think she obvioulsy hasn't had enough of his behaviour & won't leave him until she's completely done. Also, considering that he sounds like a real jerk, I think he probably wants to go cuz its DR!!! He probably thinks its gonna be a great vacation for him & doesn't really want to go cuz its your wedding. KNIW? Either way, I do think you should voice your opinion & let her know how you really feel if you don't want him there. Afterall, its YOUR wedding! Hope this works out! -

Thanks for the info Shannon! The marathon sounds good but I'll be on vacation that week so I'll definitely be needing another possible group session either before April 2nd or after. Hopefully I'll be able to make this happen at some point! LOL

Pashmina's in May???
JUSTUSTWO replied to happygilmore's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
My wedding was in April & I can tell you FOR SURE, that they were needed & used! Although the resort is open air, some of the restaurants were air conditioned or had ceiling fans going at full speed. It's funny because I gave them out at our welcome dinner & since the restaurant was a bit cool, some of the women pulled them out of the OOT bags & put them on as we sat there! I also used mine at some of the other restaurants & at night as I sat in the lobby which was right off of the beach. I'm the type of person thats always cold no matter what so it always came in handy. Taking that into consideration, since people are so different in terms of how quickly they can get chilly, if I had it to do over, I would definitely give them out again. -
how to settle your bills at the ROR
JUSTUSTWO replied to kitty_kat_uk's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
When you pay Chandlyn, you'll be paying for everything wedding related, including Tai Flora & the steel drum band. I would think that she still accepts travelers checks but I would confirm with her just to be safe. As you already know, you'll be paying Michael separately for his services. I didn't have any experience using an ATM at ROR & don't even remember seeing it, but then again, I wasn't looking for it. I agree that I don't think I'd rely on that being available either. You wouldn't want to rely on it & then find that its out of service or something. KWIM? -
Having a Friend or Family Member Officiate in Jamaica?
JUSTUSTWO replied to ssleenyc's topic in Jamaica Wedding Vendors
I recall a few ROR brides using their own officiciants as well. You should definitely check with the WC at the resort that you chose.
