  1. There have been over 84,000 posts since I last logged on, you ladies have been busy!! Just thought I'd say hi and good luck to all the new brides to be
  2. El Convento is not only beautiful but the staff is quick and lovely. You also cannot beat the location for great pics...you are literally only steps aways from fantastic sites and the cobblestone streets. Spend the extra money, you'll be happy you did!
  3. Gosh its been forever! Reader's digest version-work, work, more work and finally closing on house June 30th. I have helped with my BF's wedding, will pose some pics for old time sakes! Still not preggers but still trying. And yes, I still have wedding envy Nice to see you again Heidi!

Even without the AI option, PR can be cheap and great for a location.,

The Gallery Inn is beautiful but not worth the headache. I had a horrible time with the owner, almost had to change locations less than a month before my wedding due to changes she made to our contract, still ended up paying more than we were supposed to and then was charged extra for items that were supposed to be included. When questioned, our emails and calls were ignored. She went through three wedding planners including her niece. During the wedding the owner made many comments about how much more she usually charges and how grateful I should be. Mind you, I paid about $130/plate even for children and still did not have the alcohol that I requested or the dessert. I did not want wedding cake and was supposed to have coconut ice cream but she susbstituted vanilla with baked brown sugar and cinnamon. I posted about the issues as they happened so if you search you can read about them. Feel free to PM me also and I can provide more details...or pics if you are a sucker for punishment.
  6. I guess Bruce wanted to be like Demi and married a girl much younger than he is at Parrot Cay. Of course Demi and Ashton were there. Maybe even Madonna! Oh to be a celebrity, I wonder what the favors were?

It is about 20 dollars for a cab roundtrip depending which hotel, traffic.Maybe a little less. Some guests are booking packages with flight and hotel on Expedia. There are also apartments in Old San Juan they can rent for about $150 a night which can sleep sometimes up to six people. There is also public transportation that runs from the 'burbs into San Juan. It costs fifty cents and is very safe. I've used it by myself and with groups for huge savings! The terminal is next to the docks and Sheraton hotel in San Juan. Every hotel I've stayed at in Condado or Isla Verde has a bus stop very close by. I would just give extra time at the beginning of a trip as it is not always on schedule.

I was looking into alternatives but can't get a feel for where all the other hotels are in relation to the El Convento. Any help is appreciatied! If a hotel is in Old San Juan than it is within walking distance of El Convento. The old city is very small and condensed so you can go from one end to the other in fifteen minutes give or take.
  9. Oh the ferrets! I have missed them so! I had just started plastering my neighborhood with these...
  10. I read the weddingwire reviews and also noticed how "angelic" they were. Interesting indeed. It is a shame when professionals do not act as such. Vendors need to acknowledge that the internet has become the new word of mouth. This is the kind of economy where past experience will keep people in business or put them out, even those with talent. Stop the diva act, without customers vendors are nothing. I don't think Morgan has anything to worry about with her karma and Heather will get great pics regardless of who her photg is. I think BDW keeps growing because of the great people who are active. Look at all the Mrs's that stick around because of the friendships and the true desire to help other future brides.
  11. Very cute! What are you doing with all your new free time in the morning

I talked to a wedding coordinator who was trying to talk us out of it and I'm not sure if it's because she doesn't have the relationships there? She was making it sound like it is run-down. Any advise would be appreciated. My party will be small - around 30 people and that Salon Matorell would have made a great place for a small reception. Thanks in advance!! I didn't marry at El Convento but I have been there twice and think it is beautiful and NOT rundown. Did the coordinator give you specifics on what is less than optimal or why she feels the way she does? When I almost switched venues last minute, El Convento was very kind, prompt and helpful. I would ask for details.
  13. I am a licensed social worker who provides therapy to individuals, couples and families and my role is not to tell people what to do. I listen, identify themes, supports, and barriers to growth. I may make suggestions but they are never ultimatums or necessary to continue the therapy. I also provide a safe place for people to let whatever they want out. I could go on but I'm sure you see where it all goes. I also have had extensive therapy myself, most likely this is what led me to social work. I found it helped when my dad died when I was 21 ( I have daddy issues) and during my friend's suicide. I've also gone with my sibling who is bipolar to do family work. We've all benefited but it is tru that you will need to be open to therapy. I would call your employee EAP if you have one and ask for a referral. They will know therapists in your area that are covered by insurance. You should also be able to look online through your insurer if you do not want to go through the EAP. FYI, your employer cannot access who calls the EAP line. Hope you find what you need

I think I paid $150/night but only stayed a few days. I prefer to stay at At Windchimes Inn in Condado personally.
  15. Same as here-"jamisoncollette" I know, I am very original:)

  17. Is it contact kickboxing or cardiokickboxing? I used to do 2x/week cardio and 1x/week sparring just fine. Of course, you may not want to spar if the wedding is soon because accidents do happen If you are doing cardio, just listen to your body. It is an amazing workout physically and mentally and so why not do it as often as you can tolerate!
  18. I am finding fertility friend confusing! I feel like I am learning a foreign language. I wish I could go through all the tutorials instead of one a day. I told Dh it would be easier to get me drunk and take a ride on a Harley, I swear thats what worked last time Lots of luck everyone, and no I'm not drunk. Actually, I have been watching what I eat. Are there fertility foods?

  20. Tmarie, have you made contact with the Demographic Registry? They can be frustrating to work with. I wish that PDF file was available when I got married. I eventually used WedAffair's licensing service which was helpful. I have a few tips though: 1. Write NOW to the registry to get the information so that you can bring it with you to your doctor's office. Many states no longer require these tests and some labs get very confused when you ask for the VDRL. 2. Leave some time for the test results to be returned if you are being tested in the states. My results had to be faxed to Puerto Rico because the lab was slow. WedAffair had their own doc sign off on our tests. 3. The Demographic Registry is not a romantic place. Not all of the clerks speak English and you will not receive the actual application until you are in PR so be prepared to spend a few hours at the office. Do not leave anything unanswered. You will need Id, birth certificate, and social security card. In addition, whoever marries you will also want to see these documents and will need the license application. 4. Remember island time! It took several months for the license to arrive and is in Spanish so maybe I'm not really married after all
  21. The brown canvas totes are now gone. I also found another bag of shells I added to the others.
