    Hi!

Welcome fellow Canadian and happy planning!

    Hello

Welcome! There is lots of great advice on the forum - you can use the search function to look for certain topics or just browse through from the main menu - the best advice is to read a lot and post when you feel as though you have an opinion or question (Which for most of us is all the time!)
  3. Welcome to the forum! It is certainly overwhelming at first but the best advice has already been given - read lots and try to jump in with your two cents when you can - before you know it you will be addicted like the rest of us~!
  4. We originally had 30 people on our guest list and now it is looking like about 60 - we already have 18 people booked - I am actually crying right now cause my uncle from Calgary just called to say they are booked - all my mom's side has confirmed and paid the deposit - wow. I think we are going to do the welcome dinner as well as opposed to the rehearsal - we have people coming from all over Canada and the US and most of our families (with the exception of our parents and siblings) haven't met as our parents live in different provinces and FI's brother in New York - I am curious too as to how long the steal drum band is for - sounds better than the $750 for the mariachi trio for 45 minutes!
  5. God I laugh out loud when I read all this! I feel like this is going to cost me a bloody fortune! LeShay I would create a photobucket account and then uplaod your pics and put the link here...
  6. This is soo useful because these are the things I constantly go back and forth on - photography, cake, DJ vs. IPOD etc. so thanks ladies!
  7. We are looking at some music for the ceremony/cocktails as well - was the steel drum band priced through Perla or did you find that on your own?
  8. I'm just pissed off because we wanted to start everything earlier b/c there are some people with kids who will want to go to bed earlier - that and my 78 year old grandparents won't last until 11:00 so we wanted to make sure everything was done early! I think Monica had said he was good but that he didn't play all the songs they had requested - the quote I have is for $1250 but that I got through BECKS!
  9. Welcome and happy planning! There is a ton of great information on this forum to help make your decision a little easier!
  10. I too wanted to do this but the seamstress said about $300 - $400 - I think you also have to consider whether the dress will look "right" with a corset back - my dress has detailing and the seamstress actually told me it would almost be too much and take away from the rest of the dress - depending on how tight you have it - may not be worth it (e.g. the seamstress told me that it would only be 2 inches max at the top of the corset in terms of the opening!)
  11. Especially because we are expecting 50 people - so if we dance til 1:00 am that means it will be $500 an hour extra x 5 hours plus $100 for the bartenders... so an extras $2600! YIKERS... We are debating between DJ and IPOD and also for photography.. I really want to bring someone but I hate thinking of the cost! (GOD my work has suffered these days because of this forum!)
  12. I say order the 10 - the alterations will be much less expensive than altering the seams of the entire size 12.. The dress is gorgeous!
  13. Ok so I just received an email from Perla with the following answers to my questions: 1) Is the legal ceremony is included in the pkg cost? A: No is not, a surcharge of $1000USD plus 10% of tax will apply. 2) How do I know how many extra hours we will need for the reception? What is the cost per person for each hour? A: The additional hour is $10USD per person per hour. The wedding packages include 4 hours of services starting from the ceremony. And remember that here is a surcharge per person per hour for the extra hours. And also after 12pm there is a fee of $50USD per waiter in cash that you need to pay. I am slightly irritated at this b/c what it means is that, because my ceremony is at 3:30 - my package is over at 7:30 - seems stupid so I emailed her back asking how it worked if we didn't choose a package! I feel like the costs are starting to get out of control! Not sure it's worth it to do the package since the cost of the ceremony isn't even included. Are you girls all going with the DJ?
  14. Perla confirmed the judge for the time I requested in early January - I am waiting to hear back from her on the cost as her response when I asked her the last time was not clear at all! The prices I received from DJ Swank were 1250 for four hours - actually I think these prices came from Becks! In terms of timeline - Perla informed me that it's " an extra per person cost per hour over the time" which I need to confirm what exactly that is but perhaps that's anything over the 4 hour mark! I'll let you know her response!
  15. PHEW. I thought she told us that too! Not sure where this four hours comes from other than that's the minimum for the DJ! Have you girls made any photog decisions?
  16. I just emailed her with my tentative schedule that has dancing from 9:00 until 1:00 am - I'll post her response when I get it!
  17. Interesting b/c Perla told me we could have the terrace as late as we wanted - I don't want to finish everything at 10:00 pm... is she referring to the after dinner portion?

    I made it!

Welcome fellow Ontarian! We did a site visit at the BPT in NOvember and loved it - you made a great choice!
  19. LeShay you are too cute - Ben was looking at the site and says "I am assuming since I know nobody named LeShay that this is one of your "forum friends" (see finger quotes and eye rolls!)
  20. Congrats ladies and thanks for all your help thus far!
  21. We are getting married at 3:30 in November for the same reasons - we will be having a cocktail reception and band from about 4-5:30 while we have pictures done and then dinner..
  22. Welcome to the forum and happy planning! There is tons of great information on this board!
  23. That's a gorgeous dress!
  24. I have visited the Grand Palladium and the Paradisus - of course I am a little bias but for me the reason I chose the Paradisus was that it was about 1/2 the size of the GP and the ceremony area was more private - the GP was beautiful - just a little too big for me!
