Ok soo this is crazy - I went to see see a house last night and loved it.... FI was out of town so I suggested he go and see it today at 3:30 ... needless to say he loved it.. we went and made an offer and it was accepted! Holy Shit.. the only bad thing is that we close on October 30... 3 weeks to the wedding..

Maura there are sooo many wonderful things to do here in TO - Some of the "non-touristy" stuff you could do includes Kensington Market (great food and gift outdoor/indoor market) - Queen's Quay boat tours - lots of good shopping like the Eaton Centre and Queen West.. and TONS of great restaurants... Which hotel will you be staying at? I can give you a ton of great recommendations!

Thanks for the heads up! Just read through all three parts and it seems as thought everything went over pretty well. We too hired DJ SWANK - I really hope it's not a total disaster..

We are doing an "after honeymoon" - we get back from the wedding on December 1 - then are leaving on the 21st to spend Christmas and New Years touring Chile - then heading to Walt Disney World for 6 days!

We invited 100 ppl and have 51 booked so far - all are staying at our resort..

We're paying 1645 plus tax out of TOronto and 1700 and change plus tax out of Calgary - we were worried as well... but it doesn't seem as though others minded as we have 51 ppl booked!

I am not sure about the one month before thing - that's the first I've heard of that.... FI and I are going down at the end of August and that is something that I have on my list in terms of things to ask about.. In terms of flowers... they seem expensive. I have been emailing her pics of stuff that I want - for example a callalilly bouquet would run me about $120 - so it would totally be worth it to do silk. I think that is what becks is doing...

A really great way to know if you are working hard enough is to figure out your max heart rate. The formula is always "220 - age". For me at 30, that means that if I am working at 100% my heart rate should be 190. Anywhere between 60-70% of your max heartrate is great for fat burning. For me, I aim for 130 which is about 65 percent when I am trying to burn fat.

Yeah I feel pretty blessed. Our parents LOVE each other and FMIL and I have a great relationship - I think part of it is that she has two sons and no daughters.. let's say I own a ton of pink things..

There really is no sarcasm to this. I feel so blessed and spoiled. Last week I celebrated my 30th birthday and FMIL and FFIL flew in this past weekend to attend a surprise birthday party that FI had planned. In addition to paying for half of the party (which was totally unexpected and unnecessary) they showed up today with a dozen long stem pink roses for me and took us out to dinner. Like all that wasn't enough - for my birthday they upgraded FI and I to First Class for the wedding - I cannot even believe it! They are sooo amazing. Super excited to fly first class and to not have to worry about any of the luggage restrictions! :m onkey:

That being said, of the hotels we looked at the Paradisus was at the higher end of the scale but we decided to go for it. I would also caution to say that flight costs are not available through the airlines until 330 days before the flight. Sooo... the prices you are getting for 2010 are really just estimates based on current prices and the forecasted increases..

Ladies picking a resort is really the toughest part. We were engaged for 5 months before we went for our site visit. I will preface this by saying that we were in cancun for another wedding so we had ONE DAY to look at resorts. You will overwhelm yourself. You will feel frsutrated. You will look at a ton of places and not know which one is the best. I would be realistic - what really worked well for us was narrowing it down to 5 resorts that we looked at that met our criteria. For two months before we went, FI and I had a lot of talks about what was important. 1) family friendly 2) within 30 min drive of cancun airport 3) within our one week guest budget 4) opportunity for private reception 5) One wedding a day, non negotiable 6) all-inclusive 7) private ceremony beach front property. I looked at every resort in Mexico and the Dominican. I started crossing resorts off the list that didn't meet the criteria (non-negotiable). We visited: the Paradisus, Azul, Dreams Cancun, and the Grand Palladium. Could be have looked at 12 more? Absolutely - but I knew I would drive myself nuts. Once we picked the resort it really got easier. Now I can jsut deal with all the fun stuff!
