  1. That is exactly right! Dividing Proper/Improper Fractions dividend ¸ divisor = quotient 1. Change mixed numbers to improper fractions. 2. Change the dividing sign to multiply and flipflop (take the reciprocal of) the divisor. 3. Multiply the numerators and multiply the denominators 4. Change to mixed numbers if necessary. 5. Reduce to lowest terms.
  2. It is a hard decision but it does get easier. It took me five months to pick a resort. I think you are right in that every resort will offer it's advantages and disadvantages - I would find the resort you love, in your price range, and reserve a date. Once you have that you will feel totally relieved. We were able to negotiate on everything pretty much - Dinner that we chose (each course indiv), appetizers we chose (indiv) - honestly I even want different chairs for the ceremony and reception and they have options for that too.. Does that help?
  3. We are using SWANK although I will admit that we have gone back and forth. SWANK is certainly more expensive - we booked in 2007 and so I negotiated to pay 2007 rates and for him to match what MANNIA woud give me for the same time (I basically told him he would lose my business) - Given that his rates have gone up since then (probably significantly for 2009) Mannia is probably cheaper although i don't have either pricing for 2009

On the food front - I went through all the menus Perla sent and picked individual appetizers and courses and then sent her what I wanted and she sent me the per person price. It was always cheaper than taking the pre-existing packages and making changes!
  5. Welcome Lisa-Marie and Happy Planning

My wedding isn't until January so its not like I NEED the info right now. I'm just afraid that my email has now gotten buried under all of the others that I'm sure she has received. I should probably just be patient... (don't you love when you answer your own questions lol). I would resend it. This has happened to me on numerous occasions and I just forward the original email to her and say "not sure if you have had a chance to look at this yet." Sometimes it's just that she is waiting back on pricing for certain things (and I don't know what specifically you've asked!) If you want specific prices on stuff let me know!

I guess that it's just odd that the "cocktail party" in the package doesn't actually include any cocktails and they charge $10 extra for alcohol per person/hour. So, the Fantasy package with dinner from the banquet kit, that includes 3 hours of international open bar? From the Aqua package, does the chef's dinner option include an alcohol bar? All the appetizer packages include open bar for one hour (international open bar) The Fantasy and Aqua both include the International OPen Bar as well - if you want to add additional hours (say after dinner for dancing then it's $10 per hour per person!)
  8. I just went through this as I had a shower in Calgary and we live in Toronto. FMIL's friends who were hosting the shower put something on the invitation to the effect that "Ben and Melissa are living in Toronto - flight-friendly gifts would be appreciated! They are registered at the Bay and Linens N Things (home stores) so a gift card would go a long .. and "not so heavy" way to helping them start their married life together!"
  9. Aside from school supplies, we often take toiletries. They don't need to be primo quality - but things like shampoo, soap, disposal razors, panyhoses, even nail polish - these things are quite expensive from what we've been told. I normally go to the dollar store and stock up before we leave.. oh and the LOVE things with Canada on them so hats are awesome!
  10. I did everything at home on my trusty HP and it worked out fabulously. For the envelopes - I just bought the clear labels and printed the addresses on those...

  12. YAY BECKS! Congrats and welcome back! Thanks for the honest review - I am anticipating the hiccups but I know how frustrating it can be after you have told them 12 times how something should be and it's not done right.. Glad that you loved Carlos - we are still with SWANK but who knows .. we may just switch over!
  13. Congrats Fanny on picking a date! Sorry I have been so delinquent on my own thread - we just bought a house and have been out of the province for the week on vacation! I cannot believe that my wedding is just over 3 months away - YIKERS! We are bringing our photographer with us - Visual Cravings! They are a member of BDW forum as well... Heading down for a site visit in three weeks if anyone has any burning issues - going to do a food tasting, pick linens, flowers etc. and do a hair trial! Cannot wait!
  14. Congratulations! That is sooo exciting!
  15. YAY Becks and Chris! Hope you have a fabulous day!
  16. I think I missed ya BECKS! I know that everything will be fabulous and cannot wait to hear all about it!
  17. House is at Dufferin and St. Clair in little Italy... Thanks for all your well wishes ladies!
  18. Sorry I've been MIA - we just bought a house so trying to work out the details on that.. OK back to Paradisus speak. We are heading down in about 4 weeks for our site visit so if there are specific things you would like me to ask let me know. In terms of packages - I like Becks found that a custom package is actually cheaper b/c you aren't paying a fee every time you change the package... and you get everything you want. becks getting sooo excited for you! You must be leaving soon!
  19. We narrowed it down to the GP and the Paradisus - I think for us the deal breaker was that the GP did up to 7 weddings a day and the beach was really crowded which we didn't love..
