  1. Welcome Steph and happy planning!
  2. We don't really have a budget but it looks like it is going to come in somewhere between 18,000 - 20,000 - including everything from trip to dress to private reception etc. for 57 ppl. We certainly could have done it for about 1/2 that but we are bringing our photogs with us and getting a lot of extras and upgrades..
  3. We are at the Paradisus Riviera and have been in regular contact with our wedding coordinator Perla since January. She is phenomenal - responses are generally within 24-48 hours but the longest I have had to wait is 2-3 days. In terms of contract - we picked things we liked from about 6 different packages, menus, pre-sets etc and she gave us a pp cost for those. To be honest her attitude all along has been that "they will do whatever you want" - of course you have to pay for it but they will certainly get you anything you request.
  4. What a wonderful review. I am soo glad that everything worked out for you - makes me even more excited for my wedding there in 5 weeks!
  5. THose look amazing! The only small thing I would suggest is that you use the word "detail" twice in the same sentence.. "our website has more detailed information about every detail of our destination wedding.." I might change it to read "our website has more detailed information about every aspect of our destination wedding.."
  6. I am already getting goosebumps! Great pics! Keep em coming! Sooo ecstatic that things worked out for you!
  7. For all you Canadian gals - they are certainly moving much slower here in the north! I was in there tonight and there is no sign of closing up shop - the woman said it could be months - and I returned some stuff no problem and she gave me a new gift card.. so you certainly have some time!
  8. Congrats Brooke! Sounds like everthing was amazing - so glad that everything worked out! You were such a trooper with the whole DT thing I was hoping that everything ran smoothly. Perla is truly wonderful and you truly can do everything when you get down there. I am just sooo anal and anxious all the time that I knew for myself that I would worry myself sick if I didn't see everything long before the wedding. And planning is always overwhelming. I thought I would be organized 5 weeks before - and I am pretty much there - but still so many little things! In terms of November 13 - I am the next original Paradisus girl to get married but not sure if there are other DT transplants!
  9. As I said - Fi's BF got married in MX last year and had no issues etc. and had none of the supposed requirements!
  10. I find it amusing that every hotel in RM has a different policy. Makes you wonder if they really need it at all!
  11. We are getting married in the RM and are required to bring Long versions of our birth certificates. We do not need to have anythng apostled. FI's BF got married last year in Tulum and they didn't even need the long version - they just had the wallet sized cards and passports.
  12. Welcome fellow Canadian and happy planning!
  13. My pup always make me smile - here is Barney relaxing in a sun beam...
  14. Maybe it's different in Canada but I just called them and they said I can continue to use my gift cards in store - maybe that's b/c they have closed down the online Canada store. Kinda bugz me - no notice what so ever!
  15. I cannot really say I am surprised given the boom of Bed Bath and Beyond, Home Sense etc. but I received an email today from LNT saying that they announced today that they were going into liquidation. I spoke to head office who confirmed that all stores in Canada and the US are closing. If you are registered there (like I am)! she suggested that you either move your registry to another "retailer" whatever that means or buy the stuff you want now. I gather that they aren't going to be open for too much longer - the store near me said they thought they would be open for a week to liquidate assets!
  16. Unfortunately our costs were airfare and rooms combined - we booked a package through Air Canada Vacations so everything was together! I know that we did have a few people book separately and the best rates were actually those that are online (vs. what the resort was going to give us).
  17. Welcome Madbride2009! Not sure which prices you are looking at but some of the prices in the package of amenities are in dollars and some in peso - I think that's a pesos rate - so about $30 bucks!
  18. Perla confirmed that you don't get a discount. I know a number of other ladies have gotten deals (maybe AdamsGrll) but I can say that they are not doing this any more..
  19. We actually considered a Disney wedding and I went down and met with the WC to go through all the options, prices etc. Make sure you reserve your date early - things book up. If you have any questions let me know!
