  4. Well ladies - my time has come. It's 5:00am here in Toronto and although we don't leave until Sunday morning, I am too excited to sleep. I wanted to say thanks to each and everyone of you who has given a suggestion, replied to a question, contributed an idea, and really helped this all come together. I think my 60 guests are going to be impressed of what BDW is capable of! The ring that started it all! Our bands! My dress, veil, hair flower and jewellery! BM Dress (in teal) Boutinierres for the guys Invites
  5. Soo excited! Three more sleeps until we leave! I have packed all the wedding stuff and am working on my planning thread as we speak! I promise to come back with a full report..!
  6. Foods that are high in good fats are a great start. You really would need to eat more calories and fat - one pound = 3500 calories. So really, it's about the math - I would eat many meals throughout the day higher in calories and fat!
  7. What is important to remember too is how your body breaks down simple vs. complex carbohydrates. Complex (or good carbs) like whole wheat breads and pasta often are packed with nutirents, lower calories and keep you feeling fuller longer. Simple carbs (like white bread, anything with sugar) turn to glucose quickly in your body and aren't very filling - so you eat more. If you are going to give up anything I would recommend simple carbs as others have suggested!
  8. We did 25 bags and I probably spent about $750..
  9. What about "for you to share with your Mr. or Mrs." or "To enjoy with your other half"
  10. We are pretty fortunate that my parents and FIs parents are paying for everything. My parents are paying for my trip and dress etc. and his parents his trip and custom suit - then all the other costs are being split 50/50. The only thing we are really purchasing ourselves is the BM and GM gifts.
  11. Awe thanks Becks! I really couldn't have done it all without you! I am working on last minute projects from amongst piles of boxes... Have an awesome honeymoon!
  12. Welcome back! Cannot wait to read your review! We leave 3 weeks today - I can't even believe it!
  13. Michelle I am sorry to hear that you are going through this. I second Alyssa's idea about the pillow - I actually just bought one a couple of weeks ago at Toys R Us/Babies R Us for a friend - they have them at Walmart too I believe and I don't think they are too expensive!
  14. I have to agree with Anna to be honest. I think you need to ensure that the resort that you pic is a) affordable for your guests to travel and offers the right price point for you to be able to host a reception. A lot of hotels have packages and often a buffet is much much cheaper than a private, plated dinner.
  15. I don't think it's tacky at all. We didn't want to register either but we also knew that we would be having at least one bridal shower. I am thankful we did register b/c we would have ended up getting some things we weren't happy with. You could also try searching for "shower etiquette" or "bridal registry" using the search function in the top right hand corner!
  16. I do feel bad for all of you and cannot imagine going through what you are. I don't fault anyone for asking and trying to find some solution. But to suggest that us PRC are mean and inflexible b/c we wouldn't allow it seems unfair is all.
  17. I really take offence to this frankly. There is a DT bride who is getting married on the same day and the same thing happened. I said No. Frankly I picked the Paradisus, after tons of research, b/c I didn't want to get married at a resort that did more than one wedding a day. Why is that mean? b/c I want my day to be mine and mine only? Hotels have policies - I appreciate that you are stressed out but there are lots of other resorts that are prepared to do 5 wedding a day. I don't think it's about being inflexible - I think when they make exceptions they lose reputational points with the industry as a "one wedding a day" resort and from those brides who have chosen them particularily for that reason. Please don't call me inflexible. You don't even know me. 18. No.. I asked her specifically about that b/c that was a huge reason that I picked the PRC to begin with - she said they would only take weddings where they have nothing booked!
  19. Just thought I would chime in and say that Perla at the Paradisus was telling me yesterday that they are accomodating as many brides as possible but are somewhat restricted since they only do one wedding a day. She did say that Dreams had asked her to take someone on 11/27/08 (my day!) and she flat out refused b/c of the one a day role. She did say that they will take pretty much any request as long as there is nothing booked there already!
  20. Have you thought about a career agency or a headhunter? Sometimes they can be great for leads (provided you don't have to pay them a percentage) and can set you up for interviews with jobs that fit your profile. I think you are doing the right things. Have you tried posting your resume on sites like Monster and other career sites that allow you to post? FI did this last year and it really worked - he had companies calling him which was nice.. Good Luck! You have great qualifications so you will find something quickly!
  21. We are doing a version of this! We are starting with a traditional first dance and then moving into a meringue! We are taking dance lessons now but keeping it a total secret - CAN'T WAIT!
  22. Welcome Mel and Chandra to the Paradisus Team! I cannot believe everything you girls have had to go through - I thought that all this business was supposed to be resolved? Here's some links that were posted on page 19 - any questions ask away? Chandra we might actually get to meet each other! When would you arrive and leave?
