  1. I am like you. I wear light makeup every day but with gloss or chapstick! For lipstick, I love the Lancome line and Prescriptive (whenever I do wear it, that is!)
  2. I put my iPod on shuffle but my workouts are never complete without Amy Winehouse and Prince. LOVE it!
  3. Stress to everyone how you want them to stay at your hotel but I suggest paying for the day pass if they decide to stay elsewhere b/c if not, it looks like you are charging a 'cover' to go to your wedding. Plus they are flying far to go there and spending a lot of loot in the first place to be t here.
  4. everything looks great! love the invitations and your garter!
  5. I have def thought of this before. My sister is going to spread the word about my registry for the bridal shower. Hopefully most people who gift will do it there if they gift. I can't imagine bringing back all those presents internationally!
  6. I think it's okay as long as their names are correct. And I love your pictures! Looks like a J. Crew ad!
  7. I blog every so often. It keeps the mind clear
  8. I am also an Iberostar bride. We are paying for day passes because to me we think it is like charging a cover for your wedding to make guests pay for their 'day passes,' which is pretty tacky (sorry, no offense). Our guests are flying in from the US and Europe and it's such a long trip so we felt the least we could do was pay for their day passes. Each of the Iberostars where we are going has a different 'day/pass' c harge for the guests. I would suggest to you to select one of the least expensive to be married at so you can accomodate your guests.
  9. No, no, no. You do not have to put down a deposit. They are just trying to make $12 grand off you! Have your guests call up the travel agent or you and book individually. Cuase you do not know how many people are going to come. if the agent harrasses you, find a new one.
  10. Lizz, Wedding planning is insane. You always hear about it but don't know til you actually DO it! Just take it one step at a time. Get one of those calendar wedding check-off lists and use that as a tool. Do not despair and console yourself with the thought that most of us are pretty darned overwhelmed with it all! Have days to yourself and just try not to stress too much! I've got 9 months to go and we're are house hunting to buy property so I can totally relate! It's insane!
  11. I think you should really pick out the one you want. Because travel agents sometimes get a commission from certain resorts so it may not be an objective pick on their part. Just ask them to provide you with information for the one you like. What I did was email each resort/hotel individually to find out all that information and then i sought out a travel agent to make the travel arrangements for us.

I am also a Punta Cana bride (at Iberostar). It is so beautiful there--you will not be disappointed. We will be getting married civilly here and have our symbolic/religious ceremony there (a lot less paperwork to deal with!). Here is a copy of some info. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. I just came back from a trip there. 13. My STDs just say: Erica & Jorge Date Location Formal invitation to follow __________ Inside of them, we will be including a business card to the travel agent and a link to our website (which has all the passport, lodging, activities, how we met information). Good luck!

    Hi!

I'm a Punta Cana bride as well (at Iberostar). Punta Cana is BEAUTIFUL!
  15. Go with the one that makes you feel REGAL! I do love the first one though! The design is gorgeous and the embroidery is fantastic! It's really unique! LOVELY dresses!
  16. They look great! You're so crafty! I showed our secretary at work the invitations you made and we were both in awe of them!
  17. to the forum! Punta Cana is BEAUTIFUL! You will love it. The water... better than the bluest water you've seen in the movies!
  18. Tell them right away that it is an Adults Only wedding. Do you think maybe they invited other adult friends? If it is their children, then you've got to tell them again. I agree with you about it being unfair to the others if they are the exception. My girlfriend got married and requested no children at her wedding and everything went lovely. Good luck!
  19. Every person is different. I have a friend who took her mom with her and got zero reaction except for, You look nice. On the wedding day though, the mom freaked and was like, you look so beautiful! When I went for my dress fitting and found The One, the dress that I just felt like a princess in, I came out of the fitting room and my mom's entire face lit up! She was more excited than me and kept making everyone in the store come look at me in the dress. LOL. She was so funny about it. I wouldn't read too much into it. It's your wedding and you need to pick out the dress that makes you feel like a rockstar!
  20. If you can only invite your family, do that. We are getting married in Punta Cana and inviting 150 people. We picked out a wedding package that charges one lump sum for all 150 people including a formal sit-down dinner, drinks, and alcohol. Talk to your wedding coordinator about this. Maybe they can do this for ya.
  21. Do not do any fad diets (South Beach, Atkins, etc). Just eat 5-6 small meals a day. Be really strict the first two weeks. Cardio, cardio, cardio. I would do 45 minutes of walking four times a week. It works wonder. Remember, it is not safe to lose more than 2 - 3 pounds a week. You can do it! DO NOT CRASH DIET! It is unbelievably unhealthy and easier to gain weight back.
