We just finished planning the trip and getting the date set, so now we're onto Save the Date cards and reception ideas for here at home! We found a beautiful Forest Preserve Pavilion with a stone fireplace and grill, loads of picnic tables, a large grass area, beautiful lake in the background, etc. It's quite nice for a picnic facility! It has nicer washrooms then some of the mall/store bathrooms we've been in! We're playing with decor for that so it's not too formal, but not too casual either! So, we're excited to be on this site to help us plan both aspects of our wedding! Thanks much for having us! Christy & Jason You will find a ton of ideas on here. I'm getting married at the Iberostar Lindo in a few weeks so if you need pictures or any info while I am there please let me know!

For a group larger than 20, will each guest have to eat the same exact meal? Or will they have a choice between the 3-4 dishes? You have to select one main dish for all guests, but if you have some guests with special dietary preferences or whatever they will make exceptions. You have to mark on their placecard or whatever who gets what. For example, we chose the steak dinner, but FI and I do not eat steak (we're probably the only Chicagoans that don't!) so we are getting the chicken. FI's mom does not eat meat on Fridays so we got her fish. We have 5 kid's coming that will get a children's chicken nugget dinner (they had other selections too for kids). I haven't done my placecards yet so I'm not sure how I am going to mark them, but I did create a seating chart and marked the seats where the people with special dinners go. I'm hoping that will be enough. The majority of the group has to have the same meal though.
  3. Erica-I can't wit to see your dress! I'm sure it will be beautiful. Tara-Your planning thread is great! I can't believe you are leaving so soon! Steph-Hopefully, you can a pic of your dress next time. I can't wait to see it! Celina-Your brochure turned out great! I finally uploaded the pics off my camera. My headpiece (that I'm not sure I'm wearing): My menus and table numbers (two-side table tents): My blumeboxes for the centerpieces (I also got 2 taller pink ones for the BM bouquets and a green one for mine). I think I might leave them without the ribbon, what do you think? My fans (the green ribbon on the vase above is what I tried wrapping the handle with, but I couldn't get it to work so I'm leaving them as is):

  5. Tara, everything looks beautiful!! I know I have commented on most of your wedding stuff from the Nov thread, but there were some new pics on here. Your rings are beautiful! I love the flowers, the bouquets will be beautiful! Your resort looks really nice too. I can't wait to hear about all the details when you get back. Have a great trip and wedding day!!!

  7. My relationship with FILs is interesting. FI's parents are from Italy. The mom speaks more English than the dad, but both are limited. Plus, their accents are pretty thinck so even when they speak English I have a hard time understanding. Also, they never speak English if FI or any of their family or friends are around. I took an Italian class last semester so I can at least understand some of what is going on without FI having to translate for me all the time. They raised 3 boys, and don't necessarily care for their other two daughter-in-laws. I also try to stay out of the family drama and keep to myself so I have gotten in good with them. The rest of FI's family is another story. FI and his one brother had a falling out last year and they haven't spoken in over a year. I didn't care for his wife so not much lost there. Although, I get along with his other brother and sis-in-law i don't feel I can trust them. Again, I try to stay out of the family politics.
  8. Congratulations!!!! I can't wait to hear all about it when you get back.
  9. WoW! Well, I must say first of all that you are probably better off not being this girl's friend anymore. She is obviously a very immature woman and is probably coming just to make you feel bad. I would hope she wouldn't do anything on your wedding day, but maybe you can give teh WC a heads up about the situation and maybe a picture of her in case she tries to attend the wedding. That really sucks, I'm so sorry!

We can’t believe the time has finally come and cannot wait to be married! We are so very lucky to have you all here with us for this special occasion. It means the world to us that you have come this far to celebrate with us. As a token of our appreciation we have put together a little out of town bag with some items we thought you might find useful during your trip, as well as some additional wedding info. As you may already know, we are taking a catamaran over to the wedding site. Joe will have some anti motion sickness medicine available for you on the day of the wedding if you would like some. Also, please don’t forget to wear flat shoes, sandals or flip flops! We have set up a photosharing website and we’d love it if you’d upload your travel pictures! Login to a private Photobucket.com album We hope this trip will be as memorable for you as it will for us. Enjoy your time in Mexico!! Tara & Joe I like how you included the photshare site in with the welcome letter. I was debating if I should do a separate card with that info, but I like it included in the letter.
  11. Danielle, your dress is beautiful! I love all the detail on it. Erica, your cake topper is so cute, I love that it lights up. How fun! I now have no cake topper again. I wasn't planning on getting one, and then I really liked that one that a bunch of the girls on here got from Etsy (the custom cake topper). So I went to the site to pay a deposit, but there wasn't an option to select. I emailed Lyn to see if I was missing something and she said she had a lot of interest so she had to add more. I went back to the site after she told me to, and *thought* I paid the deposit through paypal. I didn't receive an email from her asking for my info (you send her a picture of your dress and what you want, etc. for her to make the cake topper). I went to email her to ask, but wanted to check on pay pal to make sure I had the receipt and it wasn't there. I feel like such an idiot. I have paid for things with paypal before so I don't know why it didn't work, and my card isn't expired or over limit or anything. I don't think I have enough time to place an order for that one so I think I might just skip the cake topper.

Maybe we should just scrap the activity all together so our guests can have more free time like your guests? I have to say the activities are more expensive than I originally anticipated! We put a page on our website of excursions with links so people could check it out. Our TA also works with a local vendor that could do group rates for a minimum of 8-10 people, but we didn't have enough people wanting to do something to look into the group rates.

I can give you the info if you want it. Michelle & Carla - thanks for the tips! I am wondering if the Iberostar has a way to do a group phone message to our guests that day to let them know where we will be for the welcome reception? I don't want to print it out in advance because I want to scope out the bars before deciding - haha. I work for a hotel here and we can do that so I am guessing they might be able to....I am sure I will figure it out - thanks for the tips! Michelle - are you guys staying at the lindo for your honeymoon? I wanted to do a catamaran trip for the group, but it was way over budget for us. That would be great if they could leave a message. I was torn about what to do with the itineraries too in case we changed our mind on locations when we get down there. I contemplated printing two copies, but then thought that would be a waste, and more crap to bring down with me. I decided I am just going to put a line and fill in the blank with the name of the bar, or wedding location once we get there. I'm also going to do that with the guest list. I was going to print everyon'es name and their relationship, and a blank line for people to write their room numbers down. We are staying at the Lindo through our wedding night, and then will be switching over to the Grand for the remainder of our trip.
  14. Did anyone watch this week's episode? I found it interesting that Lauren commented about how Heidi wouldn't blame Spencer for the rumor. She would be a real idiot to be friends with that girl again, IMO. I am not a Heidi fan, but I really don't understand how she deals with Spencer. He was so rude on this episode. They are all happy happy, lovey dovey in the paprazzi shots, but they constantly fight on the show. I think they are just posing it up to be on the show and get publicity and to make money. Their whole relationship is probably one big sham!
  15. I'm jumping on this thread late, but I like the Felicity cut. As someone that jumped on the thick bang band wagon over the summer I have to say don't do it! I liked them when they were first cut, and it gave me a little bit of a change since I have been growing my hair out for the wedding and was dying to chop it off. However, bangs suck! I have always had a longer side-swept bang, or to my chin since I usually keep my hair around chin length. I had to use wax to keep the bangs in place which then resulted in my forehead breaking out all the time. Plus, it was summer so by the end of the day they were just a greasy mess, and constantly in my eyes. Not cute at all. Luckily, my hair grows pretty fast and the bangs are now about cheek length and out of my eyes, but they are still thick. I have a hair appointment at the end of the month for trim and color before the wedding so I will have her thin them out with the razor. I wish I never would have cut them so I just had to comment on the bang issue.
  16. Congratulations! I'm sure your dad was so happy to be a part of the wedding.

I'll be posting pics of course. Other than that I think I'm going to have a chick flick weekend by myself. I haven't watched Sex in the City yet and some others like Made of Honor. So, should be nice and relaxing. I went tanning for the first time last night after the gym..and I got fried where the sun don't shine!! Yikes!! I told the girl I hadn't been in a long time and what did she recommend..she said 13 min..so I was like.ok fine. I guess she saw my face and arms but my ass is white as can be..so hurts to sit today!! I should have went in the high pressure beds but I thought I would be ok...thought wrong!! That sucks that your ass got burned. That usually happens to me too. I can't wait to see pics of your ensemble. You definitely have to watch Sex and the City! It was so good. I have Made of Honor on my ipod to watch, but I think I might save it for the plane ride to Mexico. Ok, I have to go back into training. Today is the last day so hopefully I can catch up on all my unread posts tomorrow. I tried uploading the pictures of my DIY projects last night, but for some reason photobucket wasn't working. As soon as I can upload them I will share with you all. Pretty soon we'll have to post our planning threads. I love those!

  19. We actually celebrated Boss' Day today since our Boss will be travelling next week and we are all in the office today for training. My boss is female, but she is not a frilly lady (doesn't like flowers, rides a Harley, lives in the city, etc.) She does go out to eat a lot and loves wine so we all pitched in and got her an assortment of wines from Bin 36, and we took her out to lunch today. We used to get my old boss Cookies by Design, or flowers. A gift certificate to a restaurant ca n be an option too.
  20. Your shower looks like it was a lot of fun! That cake was so cute, and I love the hula girl outfit.
  21. Lisa, the room turned out great! I like the wall color even more with the stripes. The bedding and letters are adorable. I love the dark wood furniture, and you got an awesome deal. I will have to remember to check out JCPenney when I get preggers! Oh and I also LOVE the name Luke. That is on my boy name wish list if I can convince FI to go for it. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy, and hopefully you will share pics of the little one enjoying his new room!
  22. What a great party theme! I love 80s music so I don't think I could pick just one. A couple of my all-time favs are Baracuda by Heart and Uptown Girl by Billy Joel or pretty much anything by Madonna.
  23. I am walking down to Pachebel Canon & Gigue in D by Dirk Freymuth. It is just music. My bridal party will walk down to the Somwehere Over the Rainbow by Israel K that the previous poster posted. Our recessional song is Friday I'm in Love by The Cure. You can pick any song you want.
  24. I am really bored at work today. We have training webinars today-Wednesday. Ugh! So I started thinking of the wedding stuff I have left to do. This is what I have for my OOT bags already: Suduku book Bath and Body Works travel size lotion Chap-stick Immodium & Advil packets (a couple packets of each per bag) Playing Cards First Aid Kit Color changing cups (The same ones Tara got, but mine aren't personalized. I split the order with some other BDW girls so it just has a palm tree and starfish logo and says Riviera Maya, Mexico on the bottom) I got sand toys and swim goggles to put in the bags for rooms with kids I plan on getting snacks, bottled water, post cards and maybe some brochures or other Mexico related items when we get to Mexico. Do you think there is anything else I need to get? I was going to get travel sized sunscreen, but Mike said peopel will bring their own. Then I thought maybe travel candles, but I haven't seen any and then I would need to get matches too. Do you think what I have is enough, or do you have other items that I don't have that you can share to give me some ideas? I created my dinner menus and table numbers yesterday. I took pics, but didn't upload them off my camera. I bought these table tents from Papersource. I had some cardstock left over in green and off-white from our STDs. I printed the menus and numbers on the off-white and cut them down. I cut the green cardstock to the same size as the table tent and put the menus and numbers on top of that. They came out really cute. We only have 3 tables - a sweetheart table for Mike and I and two rectangular tables. I started with two round, and one rectangular table for family, but decided it looked better with two rectangle tables. I wanted to use a palm tree and starfish clip art for the table "numbers", but I couldn't figure out how to find the clip art once I downloaded it. I went the uno, dos, tres route instead. I still have more programs to cut and assemble, but I should hopefully finish those throughout this week. I need to do our welcome letter, list of guests, and our photo list to give to the photographer. I haven't decided yet if I want to put ribbon on the blumeboxes. I took pics of both ways so once I can post I will ask you to help me decide if you all don't mind! I think that is all I have left to do aside from packing. It is crazy how close we all are! I will be one month exactly tomorrow. Yay!

I'm just starting to save now for a January/February 2010 wedding. I don't know if I can afford to pay for another person to come to PV on top of everything else. Any thoughts or advice? (By the way, what's an AHR??) We are not paying for anyone's trips except our own. We are paying for the wedding ourselves and are barely affording that! I don't believe any of that wedding etiquette advice. I did a lot of things that are probably against the rules in the eyes of the etiquette police for our wedding. I am only having 2 BMs, and I did ask them to be in the wedding before they booked. However, I told them that the wedding was going to be in Mexico and if they didn't want to be in the wedding party or couldn't afford the trip that I was completely fine with that. I didn't want them to feel obligated. Both agreed to be in the wedding and are very excited about the trip. I did pay for their dresses, and everything else they needed for the wedding so they didn't have that extra cost. I am also getting them gift cards to the resort spa to use during their stay in addition to the gifts I already gave them at the shower. They appreciated that, but again not something you need to do. It was something I wanted to do, and had budgeted for it in advance. I got a great deal on the dresses which is why I am getting them the spa gift cards.
