Ohhh, and what are ya doing for flowers? I don't like any of the choices they gave me, I guess (actually- I know) I am just picky... Are you using any outside florists?
I have heard good things about the resort spa. I am getting a hair and makeup done there, but I'm bringing my own makeup down. I had my makeup done at Bare Escentuals here and liked the way it turned out.

I am getting all roses for the bouquets and centerpieces. You can put in a request for certain flowers that you want since they may have to order them ahead of time and depending on what it is there may be an extra charge. I requested pink/fuschia roses for my bouquet and one for Mike's boutonier (sp?) and white for the girl's bouquet and centerpieces.

I didn't respond earlier because I wasn't sure if you meant me or not. Ha ha! We will be there for 10 days. I wish we could have stayed a little longer, but my soon to be hubby didn't have enough time off. Today is my last day of work, and I have mostly been working on wedding stuff! I printed out our photo list, confirmed with the photographer, did our timelines, etc. I just have to finish working on my wedding programs, finish packing and that is it. We got the margarita mix favor packets today. They have a palm tree on them, our names and wedding date. We are going to buy mini bottles of tequila when we get to the resort (I'm attaching the list the WC sent me if anyone is interested). I got small gift bags to put the tequila and mix packets in. Each couple or single guest will get one bag with one bottle of tequila and 2 mix packets. I also want to get maracas, but the WC said it would be cheaper to get them in town rather than at the resort. Depending on what we find I will either buy one set per person to put on the tables, or just get them for the kids. We'll see how much they cost and how many they have when we get there.

Then as people come in to the reception, they can stop, sign the guestbook, and take their favor.
That is a good idea to put the name on them! I just ordered margarita mix packets and we plan on getting mini bottles of tequila in Mexico. I bought gift bags at Target last night and was just going to make tags with our logo and "Thank You" to tie on them. Now I think I might add the names. We want each couple or single guest to get one bag, but if no names are them I'm afraid people will think everyone gets a bag.

Maybe you can do a tag with their names and also say Thank you for making the trip. Please enjoy tis gift as a small token of our appreciation or something like that.

So, there's a thread under the "Travel" forum dealing with the security of safes in rooms at the resorts etc.

I am still so stressed about what I should do with my rings! I want to bring and wear both of them while on vacation, but combined they are worth $5,000 and to me that's a lot of money. I don't want to get them stolen, yet I don't want to go swimming and stuff with them on. So this begs the question...where do I keep them? I don't trust the room safes because there is obviously master keys/codes for them and who's to say that someone with the power, won't abuse it? It's making me totally paranoid thinking about it to the point that I am considering getting a fake wedding band just so I don't have to deal with it all and leave my real rings at home. It's not what I want, but I will do it if necessary.

Does anyone out there have any thoughts on this? Ladies who are already married?? sad.gif
I was paranoid about leaving my rings in our room as well, but I wanted my real rings with me for pictures. I am planning on wearing my wedding bands on my right hand until the wedding day. I have gone swimming with my e-ring before with no issues so I think they will be fine. We also just got all 3 of my rings and FI's band insured just in case.
  5. I'm thinking of getting mini bottles for each couple or single wedding guest. I also ordered personalized margarita mix packets to put with the tequila that should be here today or tomorrow. Nothing like ordering favors at the last possible minute. I figured I needed a backup favor if we couldn't get the tequila, but it will be a nice compliment if we do get it. Here is the list of tequila (and other liquor) that the WC provided that we can purchase at the resort. I don't know which one is best, any suggestions? Also, are these prices reasonable? The WC recommended we get the maracas in town as they would be cheaper. I was going to get those to attach the placecards to, or if just get them for the kids now that we are going to do the tequila and margarita mix as the favor.

My FI and I love to watch Amazing Race and So you think you can dance, but I watch The Hills on my own time. He can't stand that show, and although it's not the best I still have to watch it!

We started registering around May/June. My co-workers threw me a surprise shower in August and my family shower was in September. We updated our registeries a lot before the showers since I had registered for everything I liked when I was in the store and then went online and took things off and changed things. We also registered for some seasonal items that were no longer available by the time our shower invites went out.

You poor thing! I didn't have my first mani/pedi until I was in college and now I'm addicted. My manicures usually only last a couple days before my polish starts to chip (I don't get fake nails). I am getting my nails done the day before we leave, but I made an appointment at the spa for the day of just in case I need to get them redone since I want them to look fresh for pictures. I probably won't need my toes done since I can go a couple weeks without anything happening to my toes, but my fingers will definitely have to be redone. Like Alyssa said definitely make sure they dry all the way and I don't recommend putting them in front of the fan as it seems to make polish get bubbles.
  11. Everything looks great! Both of your dresses are beautiful! I think we are going with a similar look for our cake too. That is the standard cake that comes with our package and they usually put fresh flowers on it, but I am going to bring fat green ribbon down with me. I love the personalized glass you got, those are really cute. The shell came out great! I can't believe our days are almost here, so exciting!!

Is there any way you can post the playlist? Did you mix in fast and slow songs? What ratio did you use (like 4 fast then 2 slow). Sorry for all the questions but this is my next big DIY project! drum.gif
I'll have to copy the playlist from Mike's itunes since he hasn't updated mine yet. We didn't include our first dance, father/daughter, and mother/son songs in the mix since we will play those first and then the mix will start. We started with Electric Slide since I figured after 3 slow songs we'll need a faster song to get people going and I figured that would be a good one to at least get all the girls on the dance floor. Then from there we did about 10 fast songs and then a slow song. I like fast songs much better than slow songs, but I wanted to have a couple breaks and some songs for the older guests to be able to dance to.

Thanks for the tips - I am having so much fun creating all of our favorite tunes into our playlistswoot.gif I stayed up late last wkend getting started on this and I was already getting all teary eyed picking out ceremony music. We created a playlist for pre-ceremony, ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception and organized the songs in the playlist. You can edit the start and stop times of each song in itunes, but to do the mixing part where the end of one song overlaps a little with the beginning of the next song needs to be done in Garage Band. However, if you don't have a Mac and just edit the start and stop times of the songs there won't be a big gap between the songs if you just play it straight from your playlist like there would be if you didn't edit them. Some songs had a few seconds of dead air so playing it in a reception type setting where people are dancing it would be really noticeable.

My FI did all the work, but I was watching him do it and it didn't look that hard to do. You just have to make sure you have the songs in a good order so they flow well into the next one and that you don't stop the song too early or it will have an abrupt stop.

If it wasn't for the DJ going MIA we would have been done with it. I'm glad it's done though, one less thing to worry about. Now I just have to finish those damn programs!

  14. I had been trying to find a local DJ to put together a mix of our reception music, and finally found one that was willing to work with us about a month ago. We sent him a list of all the songs we wanted, and highlighted our must haves. There were some songs we wanted to play that were really long that we wanted shortened, so we could fit in the most songs in the 2-2.5 hours we would have for dancing. Well for the past two weeks Mike and I have not been able to get a hold of him. We are hiring a DJ at our resort, but were told they don't have up to date music. Since we don't know the DJ's style and how they mix the songs together we wanted to come prepared with a mix on our ipods that he could just hook up and play with CDs as backup.

Mike had already created the playlist of our reception songs and put them in the order he wanted them played. He then listened to each song and shortened the time (there is usually a buffer of a few seconds of dead air at the end of each song so there is a break in between songs). He also started some songs later that had long or weird intros. Once that was done he was able to move the songs into the GarageBand program on our Mac. For the long songs he was able to fade them out to a shorter length. He was able to overlap certain songs that flowed together to mix them so we have one continuous playlist. He was able to do one hour mixes and burned each hour to a CD, and then just merged each mix into one playlist on his ipod. It honestly didn't take that long once he cut down each song in itunes and put them in order, and we didn't have to pay for someone to do it. I thought I would share this to you all who are planning on using ipods for your reception music.
