  1. Hmmm. I am going to be different and say go with #2. I liked it the best and my eye was immediately drawn to it. Very cute!
  2. The pimp and his cheap gypsy would like to be entered. Not very creative but it cost us zilch!
  3. Jamie ~ We are doing a religious ceremony at a nearby church and then either a sand or hand ceremony on the grassy area at the hotel followed by the reception (we will start outside on the patio area by the pool and then move it into the ballroom). There were many things that we liked about the FAC but I really like that they only do one wedding per weekend. Good luck. Maybe they still have something available.
  4. The WC at FAC is Geraldine Rivas [[email protected]]. I am getting married there in May and everyone at FAC has been wonderful, especially Geraldine. Good luck to you. Let me know if you have anymore questions about this hotel.
  5. To be different, you could have your bachelorette party in Jamaica and find a place that has cooking lessons (if you are in to that of course). That way you and your friends could learn some Jamaican dishes and when you make the meals back home, it will remind you of your wedding. I did a quick search for Ocho Rios and the first two places I found that offer classes are: The Blue House bed and breakfast inn - Ocho Rios, Royal Plantation - Caribbean's most exclusive boutique resort Just a thought.
  6. My heart dropped when I read the title. I am so very sorry that you and Reggie have to go through this again. I can't even imagine how you are coping. Stay strong and know that everything happens for a reason and everything WILL be okay. You guys will be even stronger because of this. Keep your mind focused on planning your beautiful wedding and we are all here for you if you need anything!
  7. I say cancel the appointment again. After your first time, there is no turning back. You will keep scheduling appointments and your bank account will take a huge hit and it is just a downward spiral from there! Just kidding. Massages are awesome and I wish I could go more often! You will love it!! Have fun and just relax.
  8. Is it too late to contribute money? Maybe if there are more people then those who already commited to pay could contribute a little less. Please let me know.
  9. I think for a large group, an all-inclusive is the way to go but wherever you decide to go, make it be where you want to get married. Guests (including your family) can always choose wherever they want to stay whether it is at an all-inclusive or not. Another option is to choose a hotel with an EP plan that has an option to add meals essentially making it an all-inclusive. This is an option at the Fiesta Americana Condesa where I am having my reception. Good luck to you!
  10. My FI and I are having a church ceremony, then a sand ceremony (in place of a civil ceremony) and then a reception. We are okay with the flowers and decorations for the sand ceremony and reception but still have to think about how to decorate the church. Does anyone have any photos of how you decorated or plan to decorate the church? Does anyone know of a good florist with decent prices in the Cancun area?
  11. Congrats on finding your place. I know how relieved you must feel. I recently got back from a site visit too and it is definitely a must for those struggling to make a decision on the location. Pictures and other people's reviews are very helpful but unless you see it for yourself, you just can't be certain.
  12. This is Charlie and me last year at Halloween. I just threw things together from my closet to be a gypsy and he wore his pimp outfit (same as every year)!!
  13. We are planning on doing an informal BBQ buffet on the beach. Nice, simple and easy!!
  14. I have been to Jamaica twice and the only things I can think of off hand are: Peace, Love and Respect (We heard this all the time or some combo of the words) Wha gwaan (I think this is the proper spelling but it just means how are you or what's going on) I will keep thinking and see if I come up with anything better. I have a close friend who is Jamaican so I will ask her too.
  15. I would first check with the wedding coordinator at the place that you are staying. Maybe they could arrange something fun on the beach that wouldn't cost too much. Otherwise I would check with a local dance club such as J&B J & B Salsa Club | Bar/Club Review | Puerto Vallarta | Frommers.com
  16. I was surfing the web when I came across this website and thought the mini pinatas might make a cute favor or item for an OOT bag. Mini Pinatas from Pinata Palace
  17. Thanks Anny. Maybe I will just have to copy you for the wedding AND the honeymoon.
  18. That is hysterical. We do have all the power!!
  19. Monika, The grounds of Paradisus were beautiful!!! We actually liked that place the best from looks alone. There was also a small wedding going on when we were there. I have some pictures if you are interested. I really like the terrace area and the "aisle" down to the beach. I think it will be a beautiful place to have a wedding but we just didn't feel it. I think it felt a little too quiet for us, well not actually for FI and me, but for all the guests that will be coming. Also, we want to be married in a church and there was not one close enough and it would have been a logistical nightmare to transport everyone back and forth to the church. Best of luck with your wedding. It really is a lovely place. Melissa
  20. Hi Lauren, Thanks for your questions and welcome to the site. For our site visit, I made appointments at all the locations. I would definitely recommend it because some places probably won't let you in the resort without an appointment plus it just makes it easier on you. We looked at the following places: Fiesta Americana Condesa - Cancun Paradisus Riviera Cancun - Puerto Morelos Blue Parrot - Playa del Carmen Omni Puerto Aventuras - Puerto Aventiras Occidental Grand Xcaret - Xcaret The person who we contacted at each place to set up appointments are as follows: FAC - Rivas Geraldine [[email protected]] PRC - Gpos.-Elisa Amora Hernandez [[email protected]] BP - Paula Riquelme [[email protected]] OPA - Emmanuelle Florin [[email protected]] Emmanuelle can also help you with the Omni in Cancun. She is extremely nice and helpful. We did not set up an appointment for OCX because we were staying there. We rented a car from Easy Way Rental Cancun Car Rental, Rent a car in Cancun, Playa del Carmen Easy Way Car Rental This place seems a little shady but we got a decent car at a good price. It is located off-site from the airport. I would definitely recommend a car if you are going from place to place. As for the rehearsal dinner, there is a great Italian restaurant on the property that we were thinking of using but we may decide to go off the property for variety. So the jury is still out on that one. I sent photos of FAC to your email address. If there is anything else you need, please don't hesitate to ask. Good luck with your planning. Regards, Melissa
  21. Maybe El Dorado would be perfect. I actually looked into that place when researching for reception locations but because it is adults only, I marked it off the list. But no kids (which BTW I love) = great honeymoon place!! Thanks.
  22. My FI and I will be married in Cancun but we want to take a few days after the wedding for a short honeymoon. I am up for any suggestions but ideally I don't want it to be very far from Cancun but I want it to seem like it is. I thought about Isla Mujeres but if anyone has any ideas at all, I would greatly appreciate it.
