  1. Hello and welcome. I am getting married in Cancun but I looked at many places in and around Cancun. Give us an idea of what you are hoping for (i.e. how many people are you expecting, do you prefer all-inclusive hotels or not, etc) and we can help you out. It can be overwhelming at first, but you are in the right place to figure it all out. Congrats on the engagement.
  2. !! You are definitely in the right place to plan your wedding? Congrats!
  3. Yes indeed. It will all come together bit by bit. There are plenty of Cabo brides on this forum so anything that you need, will be available to you here. Welcome and congrats. Happy planning.
  4. I always thought I wanted the big ballgown for my wedding. I wanted to wear something that you would NEVER wear anywhere else. I look best in halter style dresses because I hate that flab right under your armpits and the halter can hide this. My friends always say that everyone has it but with strapless, it seems to rear its ugly head more so than with other style dresses. But I really wanted a strapless for my wedding. Go figure. So after trying on about 50 different dresses of all different styles, I finally found my dress. I knew it was the perfect dress for me as soon as I put it on. So I ended up with the dress I didn't really know that I wanted! I LOVE IT!!
  5. I got engaged in late May of this year and I didn't really feel like shopping for a dress. My wedding is May 10, 2008 so I thought I had plenty of time. I was just excited doing the research to pick out a location. I spent many months doing that. But the first time I went dress shopping was probably in early August. Then I kept trying on dresses and more dresses and started freaking out because I never thought I would find "the one". Some of the stores take 6 months to get them in, blah blah blah. So I started going everywhere and I finally found it. I would definitely start looking now and maybe wait until you are at a more comfortable weight for you to actually buy the dress so you know what size to get. Or just buy one size smaller and use that as motivation!! You will find the perfect dress for you. Just get out there and start looking for it!!
  6. Our first dance is going to be to Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars. Somewhere Over the Rainbow is a beautiful song and I think several people on here are using it for their song.
  7. Welcome and congrats. Of the three places you are deciding between, I don't think you can go wrong. I am getting married in Cancun so if you have any questions there, just let me know.
  8. I see that you are also from the DC area. Welcome Mia and congrats on your upcoming wedding.
  9. Welcome. There are several Moon Palace brides on here that I am sure will be chiming in soon. I went to a wedding there last December and it was very lovely! Good choice!
  10. Happy belated birthday Galit. It sounds like you had a fabulous weekend!!
  11. I second nylalany's suggestion to the US and/or British Virgin Islands especially if your family is hesitant to travel to Mexico. We stayed on St. John for most of the trip (which we prefered anyway) and the last night on St. Thomas, but we also took a boat tour of several of the BVIs (highly recommended). The beaches on St. John are fabulous and the Baths of Virgin Gorda are not to be missed! Wherever your family decides to go will be fabulous because it is not where but who you are with that makes the difference!
  12. My FI and I decorate our tree in red and gold ornaments with white lights. I also would like to match the decor in the house but we agreed on these colors because they are like the Redskins colors! I even tried to wrap all the presents in coordinating colors, ribbons and bows but the FI put his foot down. I guess we have to pick our battles. My brother and his wife get two trees every year. He gets to decorate his with all Star Wars ornaments and she gets to decorate hers any way she wants. The Star Wars tree is actually very nice. For those thinking about switching out your theme or colors, wait until after the holidays and then go buy your ornaments. You can get great deals on them. That is what we do. Otherwise they can get very expensive!!

Congrats and welcome. You are in the right place for sure. Let us know how we can help!
  17. My dress was originally $1,000 but I took the dress that was in the store so the boutique owner dropped it down to $700. But before I bought it, I had looked online for the dress cheaper and found it on Bestbridalprices for $458. I printed out the dress with the online price and I asked if she could take an additional amount off the dress. She offered me 10% more off the dress and even though I still could have gotten it cheaper online, I decided to buy it then because I knew exactly what I was getting. So, I spent a little over $600 and I already have my dress hanging up in my closest!!
  18. I voted for the excursion because it would be something that they might not have been able to do otherwise especially with the cost of traveling. Plus it would make the trip just a little more memorable (although being in Jamaica is great as it is). I think jewelry is always a safe bet but I have been given jewelry in almost every wedding I have been in and I don't ever really wear it. I guess it is kind of expected so I would do the unexpected.
  19. I love that you are taking a poll for this. I wish more men would get involved like you have. I think it is great!! I voted for medium (for you Heidi) but I equally like the shaved too!
  20. Thanks for the recipe. I am going to make these to take to Thanksgiving dinner at my FI's aunts house. I should probably do a trial run this weekend for myself though!
  21. If I send you my addres, will you mail me some? Hahaha Enjoy them. They sound delicious!!
  22. Wow. THe pictures are fantastic and you looked beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
  23. There is one on craiglslist for $400 but I am not sure if it is the right size. Gorgeous Maggie Sottero Libby 4 Sale It is a gorgeous dress. I believe someone else on here just recently wore that dress. Good luck!
  24. Welcome and congrats. I am also getting married on May 10 but in Cancun! Good luck with your planning!
