  1. I say do both but not at the same time. That is what I am doing. I am going to wear a veil for the ceremony and then take it off and put a flower in my hair for the reception.
  2. Oh my gosh!!! I love huskies and she is so darn cute. Enjoy her!!
  3. I voted for #2 because I think it is unique and it was the first one to jump out at me. I also liked #1.
  4. Well you are all ahead of me. I haven't even booked my room at the resort. I do have my wedding dress, flights booked, bridesmaid dress ordered and church booked. Hence I have a lot to do! But I work best under pressure and things just always seem to work themselves out. I am going back down to Cancun for a second site visit in less than two weeks. Hopefully after that trip I won't be so far behind. I hope to book the photographer, DJ/musicians, florist, etc. I think I was just waiting to get past the holidays before I really buckled down!! That darn ticker always has a way of reminding me though that I am running out of time.
  5. Here is my bridesmaid dress. I like that it has the same neckline as my dress.
  6. Welcome! You are definitely in the right place.
  7. Welcome Paula. I am also a May Cancun bride. Let us know how we can help.
  8. Hi Michelle. Welcome to the forum. I love South America but I have only been to Peru and Ecuador. I am going to Argentina for my honeymoon. My fiancee is actually from Ecuador but he has lived and/or traveled to every country in South America. Machu Picchu was amazing and Peru in general is a lovely country. However, I am partial to Ecuador. It is such a beautiful country. We were going to get married in Quito but I was worried about the altitude since my mother is overweight and has some minor health issues. Something to consider if you have someone in the same situation. There is a fantastic hotel in downtown Quito called the Plaza Grande that overlooks the San Francisco Plaza. It is has a nice ballroom that is connected to an outside terrace with gorgeous panoramic views. It could be the perfect size for your group. Good luck and if you have any questions, let me know. I can always ask the fiancee for help too. Happy planning.

    I'm new!

Congrats on your engagement and welcome to the forum. You have definitely come to the right place to help plan your wedding.
  10. Homemade pizza is the best. We had a pizza party a couple weeks ago and everyone was able to make their own pizzas and then we all shared. After we were done, we had a vote to see who had the best pizza. It was a fun inexpensive night with friends. I buy my dough from a local Italian store. Hopefully there is one in your area. If not, try a local pizza place (not a chain) and just ask them if they sell the dough. Good luck and have fun!!
  11. I love the first dress the best. It is simple and classy and your bridesmaids will definitely be able to wear it again! Nice choices.
  12. Welcome and congrats. The Princess looks fantastic!
  13. Congrats and welcome Julie. I am getting married in Cancun so if there is any questions about that area just let me know. 2009 seems far away but it will be here before you know it. Enjoy the planning.
  14. Welcome to the forum. I would definitely recommend St. John (USVI). The beaches don't get any whiter and the water is clear blue. It is beautiful there. How many guests are you expecting?
  15. We were originally just going to switch hotels but stay in the same area but really good friends of ours are getting married in Argentina so we decided to make that our honeymoon. We will be going for one week to Mexico for the wedding and one week to Argentina for the "honeymoon". The only thing is that it will really be a pre-honeymoon since we will go 3 weeks BEFORE our wedding!!
  16. I went to the USVI earlier this year and loved it (well almost all of it). I didn't prefer St. Thomas as much but we stayed on St. John at the Estate Lindholm and I loved everything about it. Although it is not an all-inclusive, it was a beautiful place and the owners are fabulous. We also did a boat tour of the BVIs through New Horizons. Although the beaches on St John were fabulous, the boat tour was the highlight of the trip!!
  17. I am not sure how cheap you found them on ebay but Costco has them for pretty cheap. I also found some on craigslist for $10 for 50. wedding invitation

    Hi!

Welcome Erin. You have definitely come to the right place.
  19. Welcome to this wonderful group! You are definitely in the right place to help out with whatever you need. You already have the hard part done though...picking the date and place!!
  20. Welcome and congrats on your upcoming wedding. I am sure you have all the planning done but if there is anything that we can help you with just let us know! This forum is fantastic!!
  21. I also have the one the bridal shop gave me. I hadn't thought about getting another one. I guess I will wait to hear (i.e. read) what worked for everyone else.
  22. This is a fantastic thread especially with the holidays coming up. It doesn't hurt to do something extra special that will mean so much to other people. I like the stories so far. Here is mine. I was flying back from Ecuador last week and my flight was cancelled so the airline gave us vouchers for food and hotel. In the morning at the airport, I had a breakfast voucher left for $10. I only spent $5 of it and the cashier asked if there was anything else that I wanted because the balance would be lost if not. So I turned around and told the guy behind me that his coffee was on me (well not really since it was a voucher). He was so grateful and it felt good to do even though it was so simple and cost me absolutely nothing. But what was even better is that some other guy came up to me later and said was a sweet thing that I did. Hopefully those people will "pay it forward" and do the same to someone else!!
  23. I am getting married at the Fiesta Americana Condesa in Cancun. They do not charge a fee to bring in a photographer. Good luck to you!
