  1. FI and I tried it at home (no class) and had a blast! We did a few times, but unless we are having company, have resigned to the restaurant. We just ended up making so much in order to get a little variety. It was a ton of fun though! Let us know how it goes!
  2. I was just thinking about how to do this! Great thread!
  3. So I'm exactly 4 months until my wedding (Yeah!!!), and I have 15 pounds to go. I've lost 10 in the past few months, but have sort of fallen off the wagon with my motivation. Today I joined a new online program - and its free! Its Free Diet Plans at SparkPeople . I'm just getting started, but they have a calorie counter, exercise journal, tons of recipes, meal planner, forums, etc. Looks promising I also got my butt back in the gym for an hour, so if I can keep it up, I should be golden! I'll keep you guys posted and let you know what I think of sparkpeople!

I think I'll probably get a pair of wedges that I would wear anyway and the flip flops (maybe platform Havaianias). I still want to go barefoot, and had wanted barefoot sandals, but I hadn't even thought about rough sand or it being hot.

I been to ROR once before and I never saw any bonfire's but I like the thought of having one during our welcome cocktail party. I didn't read the post title! I'm not at ROR - sorry! Our hotel is doing the bonfire for us, and we are hiring the steel band. We're staying at a resort near Negril. You could ask your WC if they could do something like that though...
  6. I had planned on getting married barefoot on the beach and slipping into a pair of pretty flip flops for the reception. The thing is, FI is a smidge over a foot taller than I am. He really wants me in a heel for the wedding. I wear a lot of heels when we go out, but am accident prone, and definitely don't want to take a header down the aisle! I know a lot of you are thinking of wearing wedges. Can you really walk comfortably in them on the sand?
  7. They look awesome! Congrats! Fantastic location, BTW.
  8. I started dress shopping with friends. My mom lives 2 hours away, so she wanted me to have it narrowed down when she came to Philly. I fell in love with 2 Nicole Millers, so she came to see them. She usually loves shopping, so I was surprised she wasn't enthused about dress shopping. When she saw the dresses, she was less than excited about either one (both non-traditional). I didn't buy either because she didn't give me the right reaction. I then went to her to shop. The first dress she saw me in (which I hated), she got a little misty-eyed. I think it was just the 'first dress' reaction - she said she didn't like the dress, but was wowwed by my wearing a wedding dress. When I tried on THE dress, we both knew it was the right one. That being said, she didn't cry (and she is very emotional). She actually just seemed relieved that we didn't have to go to another store - lol - it was the second store. I think on my wedding day she'll cry when she sees me, but I was definitely disappointed that she wasn't more excited about dress shopping. This is a woman who can powershop the malls with the best of them.

You can either choose an excursion, or add a poll to your wedding website to see what your guests are interested in. Here's our tentative itinerary... Thurs Jan 17th: 3-5p - Guests arrive 6:30p - Dinner 8p - Welcome Party with bonfire and steel band on the beach Friday Jan 18th: Optional early morning fishing trip - guests to RSVP and pay own way 1-6p Optional Trip into Negril to Margaritaville hosted by bride and groom Saturday Jan 19th: Guests have the morning to themselves 4:30p - Wedding 5-6p - Cocktail Party / Pictures 6p - ? Dinner and Reception with Reggae Band Sunday Jan 20th: Guests have the day to themselves TTD Monday Jan 21st: Farewell Lunch Most guests leave Jamaica We are still working on costs/logistics of our fishing trip. We may also do seperate bride/groom trips with FI going fishing. I may take the girls (or whoever) to the straw market in Negril and then we'll all meet up at Margaritaville. I can't wait!!
  10. Our resort only has 13 rooms and we didn't want people in an overflow hotel, so we only invited family and close friends initially. Once we had definites from that group, we expanded a little, but basically told people that weren't invited that it was just family and close friends. If you are having an AHR, I can't see people being offended by not being invited to the wedding! Good Luck!

Mo - The dress is absolutely going to be gorgeous on you! I hate that they have made you less excited about it!! Where is this shop? I will go down and kick their butts!!
  12. I know you're looking for round, but I found rectangular placemats for $2 each on this site - maybe they would do a discount for a large order? They have a lot of nice options... the inexpensive one is the Pandan Placemat. Murni's in Bali - Online Shop - Placemats These are from Ikea - first is $0.99, second is $1.99. Hope that helps!

Nice? That sucks Mo! We had family that was going to back out because their friends are going to the DR in December. Their loss, that's what I say! Our resort is small, and although we had a backup plan for overflow, we didn't want to have to use it. We sent out about 35 invites, and have 22 people coming, with a few still sitting on the fence. We only have 1 room available (if we move some people around), so I'm sort of hoping no one else wants to come. It'll be small and intimate and wonderful! We can't wait!
  14. Great pics! I love the one where you caught a "Beware pickpockets and loose women" sign! Awesome!
  15. So hard to choose! I was torn between 1 and 4 - went with 4 because its really natural and not posed. I love the umbrella though!
  16. Great job! It looks awesome and very professional! I may have to add this to my DIY list
  17. Welcome Bryan and congrats! Your photos are beautiful! We BDW brides LOVE pics!!!
  18. Brittney - I am so sorry that you're going through this! My father is no longer a part of my life, which was a source of pain for a long time. It took a lot of soul searching, but I have finally come to a point where I've realized that our lack of a relationship is really his loss. I'm very lucky to a have a wonderful mother, who will be walking me down the aisle Sometimes the best families are the ones we choose for ourselves. This is what my aunt wrote on our website, and I think its incredibly true! I hope that things start to look up for you, but also try to focus on your wonderful new family!
  19. Can't help you with the big AI's, but we're getting married outside of Negril and then moving to Sunset at the Palms (AI in Negril) and then jumping to the Caves (which is expensive, but we're really psyched to spend a few days there). We had a really hard time deciding, and looked at the Rockhouse, Tensing Pen, and all of the Island Outpost resorts Island Outpost - Exclusive Boutique Hotels in Jamaica & The Bahamas . We fell in love with the Island Outpost places, and our friends stayed at Jakes and absolutely loved it. They're all a little more secluded though... Good luck and let us know what you're thinking about! Also - we got a really good deal from our TA for Sunset at the Palms and even a discount for the Caves!
  20. Gorgeous dress Amy! You look fantastic! I wish I'd found a dress that I needed in a smaller size than my normal clothes... totally jealous!
