Puerto Vallarta Maps
IrieBride08 replied to chrisnessa's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
I just ran across this cute website that creates custom maps. The prices seem fairly reasonable. I totally want to have destination maps of Jamaica to include in my invitations and think this might be a great option. Check it out and let me know what you think. Iriebride it is difficult when raising a child with special needs, I do know something about that. You do not need to justify what is best for you and your family, there is no doubt you and your fh love his daughter and as a family you have probably experienced more obstacles then most couples. Have faith that you know what is best in regards to your family. You are right in reconizing that it would be difficult on your daughter taking her away from her surroundings, most places unfortunately are not equipped to make travelling easy if you have any kind of special needs. We unfortunately were faced with cruelty, and unsafe conditions on our trip with my daughter. Nicole thankfully was mentally equipped to deal with the unfortunate circumstances surrounding our travels, if she had not been our wedding vacation would have been detrimental to her well being. I wish you happiness and a stress free wedding. Kelly~ Thanks Kelly! I really appreciate your thoughts on this. (I had to send some karma points your way to thank you!) There is a part of me that does feel bad that we can't bring her, but I know that is just isn't best in our situation. Thanks for the well wishes! I am completely floored that your daughter exerienced cruelty and craziness during your wedding trip! Unbelievable! I'm glad that it didn't mar your specialness of the trip overall. (Can't wait to read your wedding review!) -

For us, it was such a tuff decision because Jenae requires so much assistance and we weren't sure how to accomodate her needs overseas. (She can't speak, and needs assistance and close supervision to do everything from feeding to walking.) We would have had to make accomodations to have someone come and assist us with her care. We decided that we'd do our low-key destination thing and then do the full family celebration at home and include her fully. I think it will have more meaning for her at home than away. We've come such a long way as a family and I do want to make sure we celebrate it and give it the reverence it deserves. -

This was a hard decision for us, but we decided not to include Michael's daughter. She is mentally disabled and wouldn't be able to participate anyway. We plan to celebrate with her and with my two nieces after the wedding at the AHR. -
Gown Size Question?
IrieBride08 replied to Jackie's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Yeah, I read that it's part of the bridal industry's "thing" to have us order larger and then charge the high fees to alter it. My sister told me that she'd tried on her dress in a 4 and it fit perfectly, but the store convinced her to order a 6 and then altered it down. She said they never got the fit right around her shoulders and she was wishing she hadn't listened and gotten the one that did fit. I agree with Tammy that you should definitely get fitted to determine your size before ordering online. Then again, if you order larger, they can always alter it to fit. -

Is it bad if your fiance sees your dress?
IrieBride08 replied to Jenn3878's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
My FI turned out to be pretty traditional too! I want to meet before the ceremony to take wedding pictures, but he's insisting that we wait until after cuz he doesn't want to see me in the dress until I walk down the aisle! -

Custom made wedding dress?
IrieBride08 replied to sandyroo's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
The dress is beautiful! While I'm not familiar with Julius Bridal, I did read a chapter about dresses made in China in the book Bridal Bargains. Getting dresses made in China is supposed to be an affordable option to spending thousands on a couture dress. Since you have time, you may want to do a little more research first. Good luck! -

They may be willing to set up an outdoor luncheon, I never asked Chandlyn that question. If they are willing to do the luncheon on property somewhere (at a semi private location), it would resolve the issue and you could meet up with everyone later to party at the disco. It would be cheaper to serve h'ors than a full plated dinner.

Hey ladies! While I'm not getting married at Riu, I do have an early wedding time--2pm at Sandals Grande OR. I know that I need to think outside the box for ideas for the reception, so I'm still considering options to improve my timeline as well. I'm so glad someone started this thread! Will the RIU allow you to have a cocktail reception after the ceremony or do all events have to occur in the restaurants? Are they willing to set up an outdoor luncheon somewhere? I'm leaning toward hosting a cocktail reception with heavy h'ors for my guests following the ceremony and then make a group reservation at one of the restaurants later that evening (like around 5 or 6pm) That way, I will only have to pay for the coctail reception --between $15 - 25 pp. (Dinner at the restaurant would be part of the AI package.) I'm mourning the fact that I may have to sacrifice the option of personalizing my reception with table decorations, flowers, etc., but I'm trying to get over it since I didn't choose the traditional route when I decided on a DW anyway. I'd love to hear additional input alternative options on this! According to my sister, she thinks the guests will be glad the ceremony & reception is early and will relish everything ending early so they can enjoy their last evening at the resort on their own.
