  1. FI and I are big UCLA fans so we are going to be intoduced to Van Halen's "Right Now." The intro builds slowly but is super fun. That is what the UCLA football team runs into the Rose Bowl to after half time. FI loved the idea and since he hasn't made too many decisions, i thought he'd appreciate it.
  2. I am also getting my cigar roller through my WC. I'll try & find out who she is using and post the info. I'm sure the WC at the location for your wedding can refer you to someone.
  3. i think you'll find lots of great info here on locating a wedding coordinator. i am working with Katie Thompson at Weddings in Paradise. Weddings in Paradise and i couldn't be happier. She's American but now lives in Cabo so no misunderstandings due to a language barrier and she always replies right away to all my questions. I started out with the intentions of planning a villa wedding, but decided against it due to many of the restrictions and regulations that are being placed on the villa weddings, especially in the Pedregal. Just make sure that whoever you choose as you WC is familiar with all of these rules. Good luck!

I'm thankful to have found you through the forum, it's brought nothing but good things so far =)
  5. i just reached junior member status too. i was just glad i'm not a NOOB anymore =)
  6. Thanks for posting pics Leia! I was anxious for you to get your invites so I could see them. They turned out beautiful! I think I'm gonna have to use them too...once I decide on my colors... i'm a little behind!

  8. Thanks for such a speedy and thorough review! Your fellow Dreams brides appreciate it Everything looks soo beautiful! Congrats!!
  9. Thanks for sharing! Too bad I didn't know this when I ordered my STD stamps from Zazzle.com. I'll have to remember this when I am ready to order stamps for my invites!
  10. I purchased my dress from a smaller botique in Fullerton called the Dresser Bridal CoutureThey are actully in the process of moving to a bigger location now. I looked at Mary Me Bridal and a couple of other places that seemed to carry similar dresses. I never bothered with Mon Amie because I knew I wasn't planning on spending more than $5000 for my dress, so I didn't want to go there and fall in love with something that was way over my budget. The Dresser had a great selection and the salesgirl I worked with Dianna was very sweet and very low pressure. She actually told me when to come back as the dress would likely go on sale. I waited, and it was on sale when I went back for it since it was from last season.
  11. from a fellow Dreams bride! There is so much great info here!!
  12. i got engaged in june of this year and went dress shopping for the first time in august. i waited to actually order the dress until just two weeks ago though. i wanted to give it AT LEAST six months just to make sure i had enough time for alterations and not have to pay a rush free. I didn't want to stress about it possibly not getting here on time.
  13. My experience was like Kate's. I had seen pictures of things that I liked but had no idea how they would look on me. I knew for sure I didn't want a big poofy gown. For a DW i didn't want to try & carry a big 'ol dress on the plane. So I tried on all different styles, fabrics, necklines, etc. with the exception of big heavy gowns, and fell in love with a dress I tried on the very first day I went shopping. I kept looking to see if I could find anything I liked better and I never did. I went back and bought the original dress I had fallen in love with. So I got my dream dress...once I realized what my dream dress was gonna be.
  14. Welcome from a fellow Dreams bride! You will find TONS of great info here.
  15. thanks for the insight! i still haven't selected my menu yet, but at least now i have a better idea. i didn't do a tasting on my site visit since dreams wasn't the only place i looked at. i had no idea where i was gonna end up getting married. but now, i'm so bummed i missed out on tasting all the good food!!
  16. Amy, your invites look great!! Since you are my closest Dreams "date twin" it's fun to see how things are progressing for you. Makes me feel like I better get to work. I sent out STD's but haven't even picked out my invites yet!! You did a great job!!

Thanks again for all the great info! My advice on water is only: don't wait until you get thirsty to drink, because by then it's too late. I usually didn't carry water with me unless I was running over 5 miles. However, the last thing you want to happen is to be caught on a run without water. They sell great "hydration belts" that hold water around your waist or hand held bottles that have a strap that goes around your hand. Like fogdog said, you should try to start increasing your regular daily intake of water. I'd say just starting out you should try and drink a few sips of water every mile or so and as you become accustomed to running & drinking lots of water you will likely need to drink less frequently but you will still be well hydrated.
  18. I had hired an outside WC (Katie Thompson at Weddings in Paradise) before I found this forum. If you are looking to save money, I think you could find all the information you need as far as vendors, DIY projects, etc. on this forum. However, I am glad I am working with Katie because then I only have to communicate with one person & she in turn makes sure all my vendors are aware of what I want. I just wanted to cut down on my stress level, so I don't mind the enxpense of a WC.
  19. When I first saw my dress back in July it was $1800. The salesgirl told me to wait until Sept or Oct as that was when the new season's dresses would be out and mine may go on sale. I'm glad I waited because when I went back, the price had gone down to $1500 and she told me if I paid for it in full they would take off an extra 10%, so it ended up being around $1500 after tax was included. This of course doesn't include alterations, hopefully that won't increase the cost too much.
  20. Thanks for your detailed and prompt review!! I really appreciate the info as I'm sure all of us future Dreams brides do!
  21. I just ordered my dress last weekend. I'm so excited to be able to cross that off my list. here are some photos, it's by San Patrick and the style name is Raloma.
  22. ok, here I go... excuse the silly look on my face and my very poor posture, I didn't realize my mom was taking pics!
  23. That's so awesome of you to take on this challenge! I've run 2 half marathons and 2 full marathons. The last one was the Nike's women's marathon in San Francisco this past October. For me no other exercise gives me as good a workout as running does! I have an excellent training schedule for both full and half marathons that start at very low mileage and slowly increase. You're "mid-week" run should be fairly consistent and then one weekend day, saturday or sunday you should do your "long-run." You can check out Runner's World.Com : Running, Racing, Training and More. to get a personalized training schdule, or PM me and I'd be happy to email you mine. if you're interested in running for a good cause and training with a group for extra motivation and moral support, check out Team in Training, Teamintraining.org. They train you from start to finish for marathon and half marathons and in return you raise money for the leukemia & lymphoma society. I completed my 2 full marathons as part of Team in Training and it was a truly life changing experience. The best piece of advice i can give is to get a good pair of shoes. Go to a running store and get properly fitted for running shoes. My running shoes are a size and a half bigger than my normal shoe size. In addition they make different types of shoes depending on your "foot strike." Training for a marathon in the wrong type of shoes can cause issues like black toenails, blisters and a bunch of other nasty issues! =) Let me know if you have anyother questions! Happy running!!
