Here is a picture of the gazebo where I got married Once you get to the resort, then decide where you want to get married ! Both gazebo areas are nice and each have there + and - Here is my review of the gazebo that I had chosen (Keep in mind that up until I got to the resort, I didn't know where to get married since both are nice) + : *Not to close to the water so that gives you nice pictures of the scenery of the resort *the water/beach area there is cleaned everyday *Next to SeaSide grill (for those who want their reception there) -: *More tourists walking on the beach or swimming since it's the only beach area people can swim (at the other gazebo, you are at the limit of the resort so they stop to clean the beach right after the gazebo/ you might see seaweed in the sand in or smell the seaweed more + since you cannot swim in the water near that gazebo, you see in the water more seaweed-darker water color) The other gazebo + : *more private since less tourists go in that area *close to the adult pool + The Mexican restaurant (if you have your reception there, you will be close by) * closer to the pathway to go the ballroom/convention center * more shade since there are palmtrees there -: *when I was there, I could smell the seaweed and see alot of it on the sand *very far from the nice area to take pictures (see my sic picture) It's a private area with rocks and water to take nice pictures. But then again, you have so many other places to take mavelous pictures ! * the gazebo is next to the diveshop (you might have in your picture people in their wet suit or walking by to get to the boat... Choosing the gazebo area you want to get married is personnal and it all depends on your preferences... Once you get there, you will know which one ! But beware if you are a few people getting married on the same day... What if a bride reserved a perticular gazebo at 3pm and that you want to get married at the same gazebo at 4pm ? Impossible ! On one of the days I was there, I saw a 11am wedding at the Seaside grill gazebo then another at 3pm then another at 5pm but at the other gazebo (next to the dive shop) ! ! Landy was very busy that day ! !

Any input on these choices. :doh This is how I feel right now LOL Do you have the map of the hotel ? If so, you will "romantic spots" the ones at the extremeties, are the palces you can get married. The other one in the area where people would have a romantic dinner (or their wedding) / it's a taller + bigger pergola that got taken away after the hurricain. You can get married in the chapel (very cute but can only hold about 20 people) and the two ends of the beach. The one by the pool is the place near The Mexicain restaurant. One your sister arrives there, she will walk around the resort and might find a spot she wants to get married on the resort ! The resort is so big and beautiful, you can basically get married anywhere there ! BUT... the sound system + gazebos are on the beach...

We were told we could still have the option of a beach or patio reception. I am now reading your post regarding the ball room...Is it an option or a must? After reading your e-mail, I think that they will allow people to reserve either The Mexicain or SeaSide Grill (the only two restaurants on the beach with an open air concept. But I guess you will have to pay the 750$ fee for a private reception (closing the restaurant for other tourists). The other restaurants (Portofino, Bordeaux, Chinese or Asian) will no longer allow groups over 20... To think of it, those restaurants are the ones that people have to dress more... and of course, are the most popular ones ! Can one of you future bride ask Sandra if groups can have their wedding reception at SeaSide Grill or The Mexican once the ballroom is open? I am already married, she will wonder why I am asking this to her ! ! ! But hey, once you see the convention center, you will fall in love with ! ! It is huge and beautiful (it wasn't finished when I was there but it gave me a sence of what it would look like!). Unless you absolutely want to eat outside with your guests... Basically, it will look like the back of the lobby (the one with the amazing stair case). I went to look at the thread I started about the new convention center and the pictures are gone ? ? ? I don't know what happened... Another thing, SeaSide grill is so close to the water; The Mexicain is close to the sand but far from the water.

As most of you know it was a very frustrating experience getting the wedding date, but I have to tell you how much better I felt after reading all of your posts. The thing that is frustrating me the most is that I can't find a picture of the "wedding gazebo"option. They say it is in a romantic setting next to the seaside grill restaurant. Does anyone have a picture of this?? I have googled it and looked at 17 pages of possibilities to no avail. I have also asked Sandra and Landy both have not responded. I would be eternally greatful for any info!! Thank you, Lisa The "wedding gazebo" on the beach is the 4 poles + cloth ! ! I asked Sandra the same thing since they wrote two places to get married on the beach... Before the hurricain (i think it was in october 2007?) there use to be next to Sea Side grill a place where the romantic diners used to be/ or where they would put the sound system; but the hurricain took it with him ! ! It is gone now ! ! If your sister wants to get married on the beach, her options are the two "4 pole" gazebo at each end of the beach. personnally I prefer the one next to Sea Side grill (view is nicer)

Beach wedding shoe idea
DreamsTulumBride replied to Cyclone's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Here are my sandals... I loved the idea of a barefoot sandal (so I wouldn't be taller than my hubby) but I was affraid of the hot sand ! Also, I would still need a pair of shoes/sandals for the reception... Since my hubby is the same hight as me, I couldn't put on high heals! ! The botton was in a light beige color suede (very comfortable) with white leather straps. Very simple and practical ! After the wedding, I whore them quite often to go to the beach since they went with every bathing suit I had ! ! For those who did the barefood sandals, was the sand ok for your feet (not too hot) at the resort you had your wedding? -
I am a high school French teacher finishing my Masters to teach French litterature in College. I've been a teacher for 10 years now at the high school level and it's getting harder and harder ... want to go to college since teachers also have rights ! ! ! And no more dealing with bizarre parents... But more planning and correcting but less discipline than in a high school !

But the "terasse" is a restaurant ! I am sure people won't be able to have their reception at SeaSide grill or the Mexican; they are both open air restaurants (barely no walls) or "terasse" as some may call them!

My mom complains about everything...if it's not her idea. So, she did complain about the 1h45 ride ! All the rest of my guests did not complain. Yes, it is long but worth it ! I had my 2 kids with me (after being 6 hours in a plane ride) and they were ust so happy to be in the hot sun ! If you take a cab, it will take you 1 hour and 15 minutes; if you take a private van (6-8 people) it will take you 1hour 45 minutes; if you take the regular bur it's 2 hours. But that is just because the more you are, the more you stop at different hotels !

The weather was great (but it rained on my wedding day! !) And it was cold on the 16th + 17th; I had a sweather + pants at the end of the day. November is not huriccain season, so you should be fine with the weather !

Imagine that you want to go to Portofino and it's only open 3 nights a week and on those 3 nights, people reserve it for their wedding... You would be pissed, no (as a tourist at Dreams Tulum not getting married)? Dreams Tulum have on average 2 or 3 weddings a day ! THAT IS WHY THEY HAVE A NEW CONVENTION CENTER... Groups over 20 people will have to eat at the convention center and party all night there (well...until 10:30 pm !). Is this still confusing? It's the same as having a private reception in one of their restaurant but is a big reception hall with many private rooms (big and small).

This was sent to me (pdf)...this is the only way I can "cut-paste" ! The ballroom will look AMAZING ! Don't worry girls ! Dinner Policies Wedding Dinner The hotel has different locations available to celebrate the wedding dinner , it may be outdoors or inside air conditioned depending of the preference of the wedding couple , however you should be informed about the hotel policies to use these facilities. It is important you know that during 2007 Golden or Silver menu could be served in any of the restaurants or outdoors locations , however it does NOT mean it will be a private event because it is not included in the wedding packages . For 2008 weddings the maximum number of guests allowed to have dinner in the restaurants will be 20 people , for more than 20 people the dinner should take place at the Ballroom. These policies are applicable for any type of special dinners like rehearsal , bachelorette party , aniversaries ,birthdays , etc...
