  1. to the forum. I'm anxiously awaiting your reviews on the USVI, as this is one of my DW choices!
  2. You'll enjoy all your countless hours spent on the forum :~)
  3. The rep from RIU finally got back with me. I am 1st on a waiting list for my 8-8-08 date! Now I just have to cross my fingers that someone cancels, lol. In the meantime, I'm trying to come up with a back up plan. Thanks for all your help girls :~)
  4. For any of you who have been to St Thomas either on vacation or for a wedding.... I think I read somewhere that St Thomas (or somewhere in VI) has a K-mart or Wal-mart. Is that true? If so, where is it located? I know St Thomas has restaurants like Pizza Hut, Burger King, etc.. If I choose St Thomas, I just want to be able to give my guests as much info as possible. Thanks!
  5. to the forum!!! This forum is so helpful! Checking the forum will become your part-time job. LOL
  6. You've defiently come to the right place! These girls are awesome!
  7. Thanks Heidi. I didnt even think about it like that. I guess I'll go find a happy hour some where and get back to brainstorming. lol
  8. Bad news for me. I emailed RIU inquiring about my 8/8/08 date and it is truly all booked up!! I asked about a waiting list or filling a cancellation but she didnt acknowledge/mention it at all. I'm sad now. I spent all last night talking to my FI about the RIU, as I was truly sold on it. I thought I was doing myself a favor by trying to decide on a place at least 1 year in advance. Guess not. Back to the drawing board!

  15. , you will find plenty of info on this forum! And lots of support & advice :~)
  16. Thanks for all the info. If we do decide on Jamaica, I think the RIU will be the spot :~)
  17. Yes, I am still looking at other destinations, mainly St.Thomas. However, it seems that Jamaica will be more realistic for my guests as far as prices and activities. I'm also thinking about traveling times. If I do Jamaica, most of my guests can take a direct flight with 2 hours or less. And besides, Jamaica has many all-inclusive resorts compared to St. Thomas. I struck the Bahamas off my list simply because I've been there more times than I can count and only been to Jamaica twice. Now all I have to do is convice my FI on choosing Jamaica as I already his mind toward St Thomas. LOL
  18. Okay, I have a few questions I was hoping you girls could help me with. 1. Did you book your date online at the RIU site? I'm asking this because my date (8/8/0 seems to be booked even though there are available times listed on the site. Is there a backup list just in case someone cancels? 2. Is there a deposit/fee associated with reserving your wedding date? 3. My wedding date will be on a Friday. I have heard that there is a beach party on Friday nights. Is anyone considering merging the beach party with their reception? If so, how does this work? (As far as guests not staying at the hotel, food, etc..) Also, how does this work if you are planning on doing some of the traditional reception things (ex: first dance, speeches/toasts, etc.) 4. I'm assuming majority of people will be flying into Montego Bay. Are any of your guests complaining about making a 2 hour drive to Ochos Rios? 5. Is anyone using Air Jamaica vacations for their guests? I used them when we went to a friends' wedding in Montego. Thanks in advance!
  19. Thanks. This post is helping me be more realistic throughout my planning process. Can't wait to see more budgets!
