  1. Thanks for your wonderful review!!! I'm so happy you had such a wonderful experience. I just have a couple questions...(sorry!) Quote: Originally Posted by Cherie ... Chandlyn took the pics to the florist, and at an additional cost, I had the most beautiful bouquet. There were burgundy calla lillies, blue orchids, burgundy roses, greenery, and it was wrapped in a gorgeous ribbon of turquoise and pinned with pearls. It was beyond my expectations. What was the cost of the upgraded bouquet? Did you have bridesmaids? If so, what was the cost of their bouquets? Cake: I actually didn't care too much about the cake. At most weddings I've attended, nobody really pays attention to the cake. Therefore, I went with the "free" cake offered. My husband had one stipulation...it must be chocolate. Therefore, we ended up with a vanilla/chocolate cake with white icing and beautiful blue orchids on each of the three levels. Again, beautiful beyond my expectations. Was the free cake large enough for 60 people? Beach Wedding: We were married on the beach at 4:30 pm under the hoopa. It was wrapped in soft, gauzy white cloth which was then lightly wrapped in real vines. A beautiful greenery arrangement with some of the same flowers from my bouquet were set on the top of the hoopa. It was larger in the middle and extended out and tapered to the sides, which then wound down the edges. It's hard to decribe, but I'll eventually try to post a pic. Sheldon, the minister was wonderful and had a great sense of humour. The vows were very easy to follow and quick! It was over before we knew it! What was the cost of the hoopa? Did you have any other extra decor (flowers, etc)? Reception: The reception was at the Plantation as we had about 60 people attending. We had the upstairs level completely to ourselves. It is shaped in an "L". Chandlyn, my mother in law, and mother put the bridal table in the middle of the "L" and tables of the guests extended out either side. There was a space in front of the bridal table for speeches, dancing, etc. It was perfect. That does sound perfect! Did you have a choice between the upstairs or downstairs? DJ: We rented the DJ for four hours. We had so much fun at the end of four hours, we rented them for another one! They played perfect dining music, and after dinner, played a great mix for all of the age ranges present. You could take your own music...but they did such a phenomenal job, we never once used our own! Was the dj able to play burned cds? Like, if I brought our first dance song, could he play it? THANKS

  8. It's so pretty! I ordered a dress from Nordstrom last year. I didn't end up liking it on me, but the best part about Nordstrom is that it's always $5 shipping, so if you don't like it, you can always take it back.
  9. Wow, I can't believe your wedding is here already! Have a wonderful time, Paula

  11. I know for my bridal shower, my BMs are putting the little cards that the stores give you in the invitations. For a shower, I don't think it's inappropriate because (even though you don't want to "expect" it) people bring gifts.
  12. I think you should either ask her to be a BM (not as a back-up) or not ask her at all. There is nothing wrong with having uneven # of BM and GM, so you shouldn't worry about that.
  13. I never thought I'd buy another dress, but it looks like I may be doing just that. I bought my dress last June (of course after my mom told me I was buying way too early) and love it, but lately have been having second thoughts. It's beautiful, and I wanted tea-length, but now the more I think about it, I feel like a little girl in it and not as "bridal" as I want. The BIG thing that was holding me back is that my mom bought me the dress as her wedding gift to me; so I knew she'd be really upset if I wanted a new one. Well, I saw one on ebay in my size the other day from DB that I love. I got a Second Chance Offer to Buy It Now for $90! Well, I couldn't pass that up, so I called my mom to tell her that we needed to go to the store and try it on just to make sure it fit and I loved it on me before I paid for it on ebay. We went last night and...I didn't love it on me! But, then the sales guy brought out another one "just to try on"...my mom and I both LOVED it. It just makes me feel more like a bride and more grown-up I guess is the best way to say it. So now I'm waiting to hear back from David's Bridal to find out if I can exchange my first dress for the new one. I didn't even know I was allowed to exchange a wedding dress, but they said since they still carry it and the tags are still on, it's a definite possibility. If they won't allow it, then I will keep my original dress because I do still like it and I know it means a lot to my mom. She can't afford to buy me another dress, so I want to wear the one she pays for. Keep your fingers crossed that they will let me exchange it. I should hear by tomorrow night. Pics (sorry, none of me in the dresses, my mom was clueless with my camera last night!). I promise to take better ones if I go back to the store: My original dress: The dress that I loved on ebay, but not on me: The one that I really hope I get:
  14. We have about 80 guests and it's probably 50/50 friends/family.

  20. I think you should call the girl and let her know that you are telling him about it and give her the chance to tell him first. See how she reacts and go from there.
