I would like to confirm that if your friend will be part of your wedding guests, there will be no problem if he takes your wedding pictures. There will be no problems with Michael or fee if you don't use the photographer of our Hotel. I am "cc" to Ms. Chandlyn Edwards, our On Site Wedding Coordinator in Ocho Rios, so she can be informed about this matter. If you shall require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. This is a strict Riu policy we must follow. That sounds really promising! I'm praying that you girls don't have any issues.

  5. For mine, I have something like "Meet the New Mr. & Mrs...Join Us for a Casual Reception at Our Home" etc. etc. etc.
  6. I had no problem with Mike going to one. His bachelor party was a few weeks ago and about 25 guys went up to the Poconos for a 3 day weekend. He said they just drank and played poker for most of the time. On the last night, the guys surprised him when a bus showed up to the house and drove them all to a strip club. He said it wasn't his thing (it never has been), but obviously he went along with it. I'm sure he was bought lap dances, which sorta grosses me out, but I trust him 100% in that department, so I didn't even think twice about it.
  7. I don't think I ever posted pics of my new dress in this thread, so here you go. Hopefully it will look a lot better once it is altered (way too long and big in the chest area...lol!):

But seriously you know I would bring it over to you if you needed it!

  12. Keep in mind, that I told my BMs that I wanted NO GAMES at my shower. Well, they completely ignored me... They asked my FI 25 questions about himself, i.e. his first pet, his favorite color, etc. Then I had to answer the same questions. I only got like 8 right because Mike likes to joke around and had fun answering their questions...for example: "How old were you when you first kissed a girl?" and Mike answered "When I was 28" (because that's when we first kissed). Also, my BMs had bridal shower bingo, which I don't like, but it does help some of the older people get involved and have fun. And they had a "How Well Do You Know the Bride" game, where everyone had to answer questions about me (i.e. my dress size, my favorite movie, etc.) and the person that answered the most questions, got a prize.

  14. I was really excited to have a shower, but it wasn't to get gifts, it was because when my friends throw a shower, it's more about hanging out drinking and going out to a bar afterwards, just another reason for a party. We have lived together for almost 5 years, so we didn't really need anything, but I still registered and did get gifts (which was nice, I have to admit). Like Carly said, a shower is part of getting married, at least in my circle of friends and family, so I went along with it and was excited for it. BUT, if you are do not want a traditional shower, that is more than okay. Just make it clear to those you are closest to what you do/do not want.

If someone (anyone!) could point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it. Here's what I want: 1. Wedding in the beach gazebo (I clicked "beach" since beach gazebo wasnt' an option) I don't think that will be a problem at all, you just tell Chandlyn that's where you want it. There is only 1 wedding at a time so it's not like someone else will have it reserved. 2. I want decorations from the resort of some sort. You can get flowers, chair sashes, an aisle runner, candles, etc. from them. Each thing has a different charge. What are you thinking that you want? 3. I want to rent the chair covers - I also want the chair covers at the reception. I can't remember how much these are, but I'm sure someone will chime in. 4. I think I want a private reception. (I'm not sure on this - input?) If you have more than 50 guests, you can rent out the Plantation Restaurant for $250/hour (this is what I am doing). You can also have it on the beach at Seagrape Beach Bar and I believe this is $50/person. For all of the above, you should email Chandlyn and let her know. I would contact her as soon as possible if you want a private reception because they tend to book up fast. My questions: 1. I booked the "free" wedding package online because I really do not understand the options available. Do I get a reception of any sort with the "free" wedding? I hardly saw any difference in between the packages but some make reference to the number of guests so I wasn't sure. If you have less than 50 guests, you can have a "semi-private" reception for free at Mammee Bay. If you have more than 50 guests, ou need to use the Plantation Restaurant or Seagrape Beach Bar and those are an additional charge. There really aren't many differences between the packages that I could see. I also went with the "free" and am adding on different things that I want. 2. Does anyone know what options are available for receptions? Plantation, Mammee Bay, Seagrape, and the disco 3. Do I just contact the wedding coordinator with these questions? Can I change my mind on anything - ? There was no way I was clicking the boxes on the site for flowers and whatnot with absolutely no idea what they looked like! You can definitely change your mind. From what I can tell, you can do it up until your meeting with the WC when you get to the resort. Any input would really be appreciated - thanks! Hope this helps!
  20. Celina, I'm so late chiming in on this, but just wanted to say that I'm so sorry you're going through this. Big hugs!
  21. I've gone to 2 Philly meet-ups so far. I have to admit, I was really nervous the first time, I felt like I was going on a blind date...lol! I'm sure we started talking about weddings at first, but we also talked about everything else going on in our lives too. I think we've all made some really good friends and it's so nice to finally meet the people that you talk to almost everyday online. Have a great time!
