Welcome! That's so great that you're helping your sister plan her wedding. There are definitely girls on here who aren't brides (photographers, mothers of the bride, etc). Let us know how we can help!
2. to the forum! Wow, your wedding is so close. Let us know what final details you need help with!
3. to the forum! Glad to see you found your photographer. Let us know how else we can help you plan!
4. Mo - Thanks for all of the information!!!!
5. We're keeping it pretty gender-neutral as well. The only thing that the guys may like more than the girls is packs of cards and dice (most likely for poker). I got them at Oriental Trading for $4.99/dozen.
6. Mo - That's a great idea about sending out the booklet. I'd love to see your finished version to see what all you included. That is so great to know about Air Jamaica too!
7. I waited til I knew when and where, I sent mine as sort of an invitation to book and even gave them a deadline to get the "group rate". I sent mine in June for our May wedding, with an August 15 deadline for their first deposit. It worked out well. As of yesterday, I had 65 people reserve and another 15-20 supposedly coming. It just helped the guests to know where, so they could figure out if they could afford it.
8. Mo - If you don't mind me asking, how much does it cost per person for the lunch at Evita's?
9. Sorry to hear you're going through all that. There is no reason she needs to be invited to your work shower, I wouldn't worry about that. Maybe it's just her being sick, or at least I hope that's the reason, that she's being like this. I know it's not your fault at all, but maybe you could be the bigger person and go talk to her first and try to work through things? What does your FI say about all of it?
10. Mo - It sounds like you have everything planned perfectly! I have a few questions for you... It sounds like we are doing a lot of the same things. I am flying down on a Saturday, my family is coming Sunday and friends Tuesday or Wednesday, we're getting married on a Friday. My TA arranged for a company to take everyone from the airport to the hotel. I am also flying first class non-stop out of Philly. How many bags are we allowed to carry-on and check?I sent out my STDs in June and I have had 65 people book, but am expecting 15-20 more. When do you think I should send out my official invitations?Did you arrange the rehearsal with Chandlyn? I wasn't sure if they normally did a rehearsal the day before the wedding. That's a great idea about renting out the bar. I may have to copy that if you don't mind! Did you arrange that with Chandlyn too? I wanted to give out my OOT bags at a welcome party, but am wondering how will people find out about this party if I was going to put the itinerary in the OOT bagI also got travel candle tins, am getting koozies/cups, etc. Where did you get your actual bags from?Sorry for the million questions!!! Can't wait to hear your reception plans!
11. to the forum! I'm so happy so many ROR brides are here!!!! Let us know how we can help you plan.
12. Welcome Mo! I'm so excited we have so many ROR bride-to-bes here now!!! Your FI sounds like a great guy. What are your plans between the ceremony and reception because that's my big issue too?

We are thinking about doing a private cocktail party, but that may make everything too rushed. We are bringing our own photographer from home. This was the most expensive, but best decision I have made yet. We are doing a trash the dress shoot the day after the wedding. This is the only decision I have made that has caused some family controversy. Oh well. We are also considering planning an optional outing to Dunns River Falls. I don't want to have too many planned events, because I want everyone to enjoy a vacation. I do want to make sure that we make this a fun experience for everyone though. We are making out of town bags. Some ideas we have come up with are koozies, cups, T-shirts, postcards, photo album, pool bags, and water proof disposable. We are also making wine charms for the reception dinner. Well, that is enough now. Brittney I wish my wedding was at 4:00. The ONLY time I could get was 12:00, I keep checking to see if anyone else has cancelled that day yet, but so far I'm stuck. I just have no idea what to tell guests to do for 5 1/2 hours between the ceremony and reception?!? We also got the steel drum band. Do you know if they play afterwards while you're getting pictures taken? Did any of you get cocktails/hors d'oeuvres for after the ceremony? I sorta want the guests to have something to drink while they're on the beach getting pictures, but don't know how much this would cost. I think I'm one of the few who is keeping the photographer from RIU. I do love pictures, it just isn't one of the most important things for me, so I'm willing to take my chances with them. I'm doing a lot of the same things for the OOT bags: koozies, cups, cards/dice, maybe postcards, snacks, cameras, etc...not totally sure yet. I'm not planning too much either, maybe just an informal night at the bar to welcome everyone. I figure it's their vacation too, so I don't want to fill up too much of their time. Also, it would be a huge pain to try to organize 80+ people!
14. Sounds like you have a lot done already... let us know what else we can help you with.
15. I love everything, especially the Coach key holder...sooo cute!
16. WOW...I am blown away! They look awesome. (You should definitely consider doing that as a your new career.)

First does anyone know what really comes with the Royal Package? Would getting the free package and upgrading specific important items work better? For example I really don’t need the photography because my cousin is a photographer. And I really never thought about the reception, I thought the resort would place us in a nice area where the whole group could enjoy each dinner. But from what I’ve seen on the posts, I have to reserve a location? And pay for upgrades for that as well? And does it cost extra for dinner? Can anyone shed some light on things for me….. I am getting the "Free Package" and then adding on extras. I'm not sure what all comes with the Royal Package, but the free one worked best for me. From all of us talking with Chandlyn, we have found that the flowers there are a bit expensive and are looking into alternatives (silk flowers or other Jamaican florists - I can give you names if you want). Also, some of us are using outside photographers. If you are using a photographer other than the one contracted with the RIU, you need to make sure that they are a guest at the hotel; otherwise, they will not be allowed on the property as a photographer. As for the dinner, Chandlyn told me that they would not start planning our wedding til 2 months before the date. But, after I found this forum, I knew I had to get a move on and started emailing her asking if I could make reservations. I have a large group going (about 80), so I wanted to make sure there would be a room I could reserve to accomodate us - the Plantation Restaurant. As for those with smaller groups, I know that most of the girls have reserved their dinners at the Mammee Bay. Chandlyn sent me 3 menus to choose from ranging in price from $25-35 per person. After asking her repeatedly, I found out that there is an "included" menu and I will be using that one (it's basically the same food). Open bar for dinner is $10 per person. To reserve a private dinner, the cost is $250 per hour, but a semi-private dinner is free I believe. There is no cost for set-up or linen rentals. The cake is $250. If you want a dj at your reception, the cost is $150 (per hour I think). I would recommend getting in touch with Chandlyn as soon as possible to ask her what is available on the date of your wedding. Let me know if you have any more questions!!!
