  1. This is one of those days I just want to stay in and curl up on the couch. Unfortunately, no can do! I went BM dress shopping for my best friend's wedding today and now have to leave for a Bar Mitzvah. So annoying...I got my hair cut and blown out for tonight and it's just going to be a soaking wet mess walking from my house to my car...ugh!

My friend said she and her BF gained a lot of knowledge. I am excited. Jay's sisters think it's funny that we are going because they never went. So, now Jay thinks we don't need to go...wait until he gets there. I know he will like the classes! Mike doesn't think he needs to go either, but hopefully he'll change his mind once we get there. He loves kids, but has a fear of holding newborns and hasn't changed a diaper in 20+ years, so I think it will do him a lot of good to go. I can't wait to hear how yours go.

I called about a month ago and the guy thought I was nuts because I was calling so early. He said people usually don't take them til they're in their 3rd trimester, but I wanted to get them over and done with so I'm starting them early. Let us know how they go!
  5. Yay Shelley Congrats! We're going to have the same anniversary!
  6. Mo, I'm sorry you're still going through with all of the IV stuff. I really hope it's all done for good soon. Lisa & Martha, I hope you both go a little early!
  7. Karma, her room looks so great!!! Laura...CONGRATS!!!!!
  8. I can't believe your big day is almost here! I hope your wedding is all that you & Kareem have hoped for. I can't wait to hear all about it!!!
  9. Rebecca, you look gorgeous! The pics are amazing!!! BTW - I don't think I ever saw your ring before...love it!
  10. So exciting, Karma! I can't wait to see pics of her room!!!

I even signed consents for the epidural and circumcision already. At any rate I think insurance should cover tests but I think Karma pays out of pocket because her hubby is self-employed and owns his own business. I'm glad everyone's tests turned out okay!!! On another note, I have been doing so well the past 2 weeks eating and keeping everything down that I called the doc yesterday and asked if I could stop the IV and have the picc line removed. They agreed but since I stopped the IV fluids I have been sick non-stop just like I was before. The nurse came today and said she can't remove the picc line cuz I'm still too sick. Bummer! I'm sorry you can't get the line removed yet But at least you're feeling a little better and able to eat! The genetic counselor explained that if the risk came back as something that Mike & I were uncomfortable with, then we could discuss amniocentisis or another test similar to that (both of which are invasive).

Quote: Originally Posted by KarmaB If you are at increased risk like 1:50, then they recommend that you do a more evasive test such as an amnio or cvs, which can tell you for sure. I agree though, Steve thought it was such a waste to even take the tests since we are against termination. Mike and I agreed to only get the non-invasive tests done (the u/s and bloodwork). The only reason we got them done was to have a heads up that something may be wrong. I am the type that does not like surprises, so I wanted to know 6 months ahead of time if something could be wrong so I could start researching it. There was no way that we would terminate; it was more of a "better to be prepared" attitude going into it. Thankfully, we don't need to prepare:)
  14. That's too funny! Mike had one too and I was there for it when he walked into the conference room for it. The look on his face was priceless...lol!
  15. I got the results from the genetic testing yesterday and all is well. They said the risk is 1:10,000 of having a baby with Down Syndrome or Trisomy 18. The genetic counselor said it was an excellent score for my age, so I'm very relieved. Thanks for all of the good vibes!
  16. - It's a Surprise!!! - Her name: Ella Rose or Zachary Thomas (also in the running is Andrew Thomas) - Due Date: February 24, 2009 - Hometown: Havertown, PA
  17. Congrats, Mo!!!! I'm so happy for you!
  18. My SIL is due 6 weeks before me and just found out this morning what she's having...a boy! Right now my family has 5 little boys and 0 girls, so everyone is waiting for that first girl. My SIL is a little disappointed I think because this is their last one and she really wanted a girl, so that is why she wanted to find out now instead of on the day of the birth. But also we're of course so happy that the baby is healthy:) The pressure is now on me to have the little princess...LOL! Mo, I'm so glad to hear that you're feeling better. I hope you can get the PICC line out. I hope you can find out the gender today!!! Let us know how it goes. Martha, I have no idea about baby movements yet. I'm sure it's fine, but maybe you could ask your doctor? I'm supposed to find out the results of the genetic testing today, but no call yet.

If my Us Weekly doesn't come on Friday like it's supposed to, I go and buy In Touch or People to hold me over til it comes...lol!
  20. Mike & I are horrible. I think we get a total of 15-20! We order them mostly from magazine subscriptions 5.95 by Discount magazine or Magazine Subscriptions Online from CheapMags.com or ebay, so we don't pay full price. We both take the train to/from work, so we're always grabbing a magazine for our trips. After we're done, I leave them in patient waiting rooms in the hospital where I work so others can read them (after blacking out my address of course!). Off the top of my head, I can think of: Us Weekly Cosmo Philadelphia Marie Claire Glamour Fitness Shape Self Entertainment Fit Pregnancy Sports Illustrated Time US News & World Report Maxim and another 1 like this 2 or 3 other sports magazines
