  1. i like the rocks; have you tried using less inside the glass? i'm a firm believer of 'less is more'. i was going to use rocks, or colored marbles, but couldn't travel with everything.
  2. nope, we had to have witnesses. they have to be on the marriage certificate. we had my parents and sister, his parents, brother and bro's stupid-ass girlfriend. my sis and his bro were witnesses. needs to be someone who has known you for more than 6 months and can't think of a reason that you shouldn't be married. we did NOT regard it as the real wedding date. we all went for lunch after and that was it. we wore our wedding bands that day and then took them off, and didn't tell too many people (tho now that we're married, it slips out more often). where do you live? i can be your witness
  3. uh-oh -looks like someone missed their mouth w/ the cake!! heidi, it looks like it was so much fun! i'm so glad you're back and happy and married - and that you had a great time! can't wait to read a full review
  4. do you know a dressmaker? you could get it done much cheaper w/ different fabrics. my colleague tried on a dress at kleinfelds in nyc and fell in love. she had a dressmaker make it using the top of the line fabrics, and only paid about 1/2. i had a hard time paying for my dress. i felt like it shouldn't cost much b/c i'll only wear it once (except if i ever pick it up from the cleaners, i can sit in the basement and watch sex and the city in it while drinking beers). you do what is right for you.

  6. i voted for option 3, but i'm biased b/c that was my updo too! i showed the pic to blanca at dreams pv, and it turns out that it was actually done by blanca at dreams pv!

You'll pretty quickly figure out where you need to line the ruler up based on the text of the page. The ruler I used was cheap --- maybe $5. I got it at Michaels! we printed 4 to a page, but had to do the outer edges as well. we did a total of 60? 70? invites...(how quickly i've forgotten)
  8. we put a metal ruler against the spot where we wanted to rip b/c i couldn't find a torn edge thing like that, and i couldn't get pre-torn paper b/c it wouldn't have fit in the bottle. took FOREVER. do ANYTHING but that...
  9. decide what you are all doing and i'll let you know. odds are, if i come, i'm coming for the bar/dinner part. i'll have to pull some strings to make dh come (i don't know if i can take anymore naked jumping jacks :s&m:) anyway, keep me in the loop!
  10. awesome, thanks girls, i'm glad you don't mind...i tried to get her to join here, but she felt really weird about that.... Maybe my cat knocked it off, ?? maybe she ate something outside in the yard, I have no idea. We will see, I'll keep u informed. When my old dog used to have them, the vet told us it was good to let them hear your voice to comfort them but not to get too close to their face, b/c sometimes they might snap at you, not being mean but just a scared reaction, and if they get ahold of you, the jaw can locked due to the seizure ( So keep that in mind if it ever happens to any of you. Ted grabbed my hand one time and my hand was black and blue and SO swollen! yikes - i hope sheeba feels better! i read on a (cat message board) about a woman whose 2 dogs both had seizures the same day. she said that she was really concerned when the 1st had it, but after the 2nd, she realized that it must have been something the dogs got into outside. she combed her yard twice, and on the third time, found part of an empty dishwashing detergent box. she said it was only a tiny corner of the box and wasn't even the kind she used. anyway, my advice is to comb your yard and keep an eye out. on a semi-related, happier note, how are shiba inus? we were going to get one before the cats, but heard (and read) that they have a tendency to be a little destructive when left alone (so instead, we got cats who think they're dogs). at the time we were in a townhouse, but now we have a house and a yard..

  13. please don't hate me, but to be completely honest, i know that dh and i would be disappointed - but that's b/c i enjoy the free drinks at weddings. i know that my guests would have been confused and possibly disappointed as well. but that's us....! often at 'regular weddings', there is an option to just have wine and beer, or to be able to bring something in. i know around here, cutting down to just wine/beer would cut lots of costs!

I e-mailed the coordinator last week and am still waiting to hear back, hope my dates at THIS dreams is available! the gazebo at dreams pv is pretty small, and not very private at all. the good thing about a destination wedding is that nothing is set in stone until you get there, so if you chose dreams, and you chose the gazebo and aren't happy, you can change like that. (well there was no snapping smiley)
  15. we had our RD off site. our AI would have charged per person to put such a big party together. they got annoyed whenever we showed up anywhere together, but would seat us as soon as they could (usually 45 min or so). if you want to save $, i'd say "meet us at the buffet/bar at ___o'clock". each morning we'd meet at the buffet at 9. we wouldn't all sit together, but we'd all be together. this obviously wouldn't work if you're having speeches, but it's an option.
  16. update: 401 kids found. sick

They say in the thread that one of the cruise lines offers Dreams as a day trip. If this is true how do you think, for those that have been married there, it would effect a wedding. dreams isn't huge - i'd say it depends on when you go. our 2nd to last day was spent w/ a whole planeful of people whose flight was cancelled - we didn't notice them. They mostly go to town and do excursions. So on another note, I am tinking of Dreams too for my wedding next May, I've e-mailed the coordinator about 3 times over the past 2 weeks and still haven't heard back! I was going to go to Dreams in Cancun, but my first, second and third choice dates are already booked! I'm getting worried that I haven't heard anything yet. I don't want to get my hopes up again. But it does seem like the one in Cancun does alot more weddings! Have you heard anything yet? gaby can be hard to get a hold of. she is the only wedding coordinator, and she waitresses. keep emailing her; in fact, email daily and 'scream' thru your email until you get a respone. she's really good right before the wedding, but b/c she is SO busy, she puts you on the back burner until your date is closer. she does a lot of weddings there (one per day, max, i believe), but dreams had such a bad reputation for so long, so cancun and cabo are more popular. my review is at the bottom of my siggy - any questions, feel free - there aren't too many dreams pv brides here!
  18. congrats jen! i hope it is even better than you planned! can't wait to see pics and hear details!
