  1. i charged $40/hr in my old district, and $60 in my current district. i go to the kids houses or meet them at the local library. my mil works from home as a relocation consultant. she got into it w/in the last 5 years or so, and doesn't have a degree. she's also a secret shopper. she gets paid to visit local stores and writes reports on them. she has to buy something from the place, and gets reimbursed for it. sometimes it's places like starbucks, and other times she has to go to bigger stores. the reports are always about customer service. another option is to apply to districts and tutor kids who are unable to go to school. sometimes this requires a sp.ed. degree, but not always. OR part time counseling for child study teams.
  2. i've lived in london, and been to paris and venice. i agree w/ katrina - not relaxing vacations. venice was romantic, but not where i would pick for a honeymoon. if you want to go to europe and relax, go to costa del sol in spain. my sister and i went to nerja and just lounged at the pool and on the beach for a week. however, there's no point in flying ALL the way to spain for beach when you have it 3 hrs east or west of you.
  3. thinking about going down to my parents...nothing too exciting...
  4. i HATE the fact that i'm only 27 and that i've struggled with my weight since i'm 18 AND that i'll be struggling for the rest of my life. i'm petite (5'), so even 5 lbs looks like a lot on me. why is there no miracle cure?!

He is so naughty......but I love him! dh forgets to put the treats away all the time, and i'll come downstairs in the morning to an empty container. they can take the top off and pull them out!!! ours carry their toys around, and dunk them in their water bowl. if they're in the mood, they'll play fetch - especially for treats!
  6. i just bought stuff to make another batch. i think i'll eat it when i feel like it and try to stick to fruits and veggies during the day w/ a healthy dinner. summertime is difficult b/c i'm not working and i want to eat everything.
  7. i'm a teacher too. as soon as school lets out, i go into summer mode, where i don't sleep at night, and occasionally take naps during the day. i plan on getting a lot of stuff done around the house. i have a few rooms to repaint, and i promised my best friend i'd paint her kitchen. i also joined the pool club, so i plan on relaxing there and getting my money's worth. this morning, i was at home depot at 6 to buy stuff to de-rust and repaint our front railing. i worked for a few hours, but then the sun was too hot so i came inside and napped. this is my second summer not 'working.' last summer i tutored a lot, and planned a wedding, and set up my new classroom in a new district. this summer i'm only tutoring a little. as you can tell by my rambling post, i'm often bored.

  10. sake isn't too into people food, although there was a time when she really enjoyed the leaves on the top of celery stalks. ed, on the other hand, is a HUGE pig. not so much strange food, but the amount of food that he consumes is ridiculous. he likes popcorn (plain, and white cheddar), cheerios, any kind of meat, cheetos, styrofoam peanuts, regular peanuts, etc. you should hear him scream when we take out turkey breast - he makes it sound like we've never fed him! one time, we were having steak for dinner, and we got a phone call. we both went to answer it, and when we came back, ed was up on the table eating dh's steak. oh yeah, and bread - when i come home from the supermarket, i have to put the bread (any kind, regular, english muffins, wraps, doesn't matter) away first b/c ed will drag it around the house with him. hahah, when we first moved into our house, we didn't have a real fridge yet, and were keeping some things in a cooler. dh left the top off of the cooler, and i'm in the middle of doing something when i see ed bringing (dragging) in a pound of turkey breast. he brought it right to me - i guess he wanted me to open it! the plastic bag thing is common. i'm pretty sure there is a chemical in the bag that cats like the smell of.
  11. love that it was molly's first wine tour - i say start them young!!!! looks like a good time!
  12. well i drank my way thru this past weekend, so i'm pretty sure i gained it all back...however, i finished the last of my soup this morning (at 7) for breakfast, and am now eating steamed chicken w/ mixed veggies (and garlic sauce and a bit of rice) for lunch. i'm going to make another batch to have in the house, but it's a shame that dh doesn't like soup... good luck dez!
  13. jen, they look great! was the water cold? it looks like you were walking in very carefully!!!
  14. gorgeous! i can't wait to see the rest! btw, love your shoes!
  15. pretty sure i've seen them in bags at michaels. good luck!
  16. everything looks great! i can't believe it's your turn already!
  17. i'd have an engagement party or just a bbq for no reason. i think a pre-nuptual ahr is odd....that being said, we were supposed to go to a pre-wedding ahr today. it was for the ppl who couldn't make it out to cali, but in actuality, the bride and groom uninvited 1/2 of the wedding guests (they said it was out of hand), so they were serving hot dogs and hamburgers to get gifts.
  18. HAPPY WEDDING DAY!!!!!! congratulations! i hope everything goes smoothly - and it looks like the weather will hold out too!!!
