Something special for our kids?
1elephant replied to EricaG's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
i think someone on here is doing a sand ceremony w/ everyone, incl. the kids. personally, i'd document what she said and then give her my wedding band when she gets married. give her a little dollar store ring for now. -
Do We need to have a reception at home after?
1elephant replied to meghanmbm's topic in At Home Reception (AHR)
we did not have an ahr. if people wanted to see us get married, they could come to mexico. that was their only option. -

yikes - crap situation, but i'm glad the conversation went well. however, i'd be prepared for daily calls to your mom, the ta, and possibly you too! now that you started a lie, be prepared to keep up with it!

Anyone have a friend who's in a bad relationship?
1elephant replied to Jacqueline's topic in Random Thoughts
i don't now, as all of my friends are old married farts (no offense girls ), but i agree - it sucks...the only thing that you really can do is be there for her, and maybe even guide her in the right direction by modeling a healthy relationship. -

Mine really didn't have too many molds though. I found on ebay a ton of molds that I would have rather had but I really don't have the time to wait for shipping. that's what i loved about making soap - plus, you couldn't make a mess - it was SOAP!!! here's a link w/ some tips: How to Make 'Melt and Pour' Soap - wikiHow

ahh, the world of wedding planning - tho i've been done for a few months now and have no excuse for staying up all night! they look good! finding the dimensions is such a pita. i have 2 suggestions/comments: 1) from what i can see, it looks like the blue starfish has been stretched, and it throws the invite off balance a little. that could be why you're not loving the image. if it's not stretched, then i apologize. #2 is more of a question really - do you want your guests to see writing before they open the ribbon w/ the starfish? if not, try bigger paper and fold it in from all 4 directions. jmho, tho now go get some sleep!

After a gruelling hour of going through binders of dresses and explaining the styles I thought would look good on me...we were set. I wear a size 12/14 now for street clothes...and in the whole store, there were about 5 dresses that would work to try on...the rest were too small...boo erns. Anyways...I tried on 3 dresses, the other two were just too big! None of the dresses I tried today were ANYTHING like what I thought I wanted...but...honestly...the first one I tried...a size 14 with a corset back...I liked a lot and...it could actually be the one?!?! I have my second appointment to try on the dress I think I'm in love with Thursday...but after today...and the style being SO different, I'm not sure anymore... Like a lot of shops, we were NOT allowed to take any pictures...but I have one of the dress from the website of the store. Let me know what you think. i love that dress, and i believe it's quite popular around here - i know i've seen it lurking...come to think of it, i'm almost sure i tried it on!!!! you have a bit of time before your wedding, so keep shopping. try on EVERYTHING, even if you think it'll look like poop on a stick, try it on. i never in a million years would have picked out my dress, but i sure am happy that i did! if it turns out that this first one really is it, you'll know...but try not to settle just b/c it's a hassle....it's (hopefully) the only time you'll get to do this!!! congrats on losing 60lbs, and on losing inches everywhere!

we flew 1st, so our baggage allowance was up to 3 checked bags. i think we each checked 2, tho, and had our carry-ons and my dress, and a purse (huge bag) for me, and dh's backpack. anything super important was a carry-on (bride stuff), and the breakable stuff wound up being wrapped up tightly, stuffed in clothing, and checked. i figured that anything oot was just extra, and worse case scenario, i bought new stuff in mexico. i did give some stuff to my parents and dh's parents to split the load, as we were staying for 2 weeks, and they only had to pack for 4-5 nights.

i'm a elementary school teacher. i like what i do, but it's not what i want to do for the rest of my life. i would LOVE LOVE LOVE to be a stay at home mom, but those dreams are slowly fading. i just don't want to have my own classroom with 20-30 students. i'd like to be a reading specialist or literacy trainer, and will be going back to school in sept. to pursue my master's in reading. i like the kids, i like the teaching aspect, but i HATE having to defend my career and the lack of respect that i get from people - administration, parents, and outsiders. i also hate hearing that i work 8-3 and have weekends and holidays and summers, b/c when you take into consideration the amount of hours i really put into my job, with or without kids, it's probably more than most 9-5ers who also get 2 weeks paid vacation and bank holidays.

Finalized Guest List...Oops...
1elephant replied to kerryjbrown's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
we invited 115, and only 30 came. if we had stuck to our original list, we would have had 10 guests, so i'm glad we decided to extend our list. -
our biggest arguments were over favors. i said i wanted cookies or something edible as favors; he argued that the oot bags were enough. i said fine, let's have my dad make biscotti (he's famous in the family for biscotti), he said no, that's cheesy. a week before the wedding, dh asks what we're doing about favors - and decides he wants cookies. any time i asked him for an opinion, he said "i really couldn't care less...i don't care" and i got frustrated with that, so i guess it served me right.

here are my cakes: i only told them what i wanted on the inside. i did ask about flowers, but a single gerbera daisy would have cost about $7!!!! totally not worth it to me. cake #1 is quite ugly, but i didn't care about looks. that was the tres leches cake, which was VERY good. cake #2 isn't as ugly, but tasted like dried poop.

Name change isn't specified on paperwork - HELP!

But hopefully they'll just take the social security card mine doesn't have a name change line. i have been bringing my marriage license whenever i go somewhere to change my name. it has his name (my new last name) on it, so ppl can see what i'm changing my name too. even after i changed my s.s. and driver's license, i needed the marriage license for the bank. -
they are beautiful, and quite potent!!!! be careful tho - the anther falls off very easily, and will stain. ask the wc or florist to remove the anther(s?) or cut out the pistil altogether.

BDW Biggest Loser 3 SIGN-UPS! **DEADLINE TODAY!!**

i'd be upset if someone told me what shoes to wear - not everyone is comfortable in the same shoes! for weddings that i've been in, i've been told the color and strappy sandals, or peep toe, or whatever. for mine, i told my bms to wear whatever color and style they wanted. we all went barefoot for the ceremony, and they all chose to wear white flip flops for the reception. keep in mind, that no one will even notice the shoes...i say tell them what color and style and let them pick what they want.

lol we went thru the same thing. dh didn't care, then all of a sudden, he cared about everything! there were a bunch of fights....i let him have a few things, then planned whatever i wanted w/o telling him.
