  1. it said he had a heart attack. the story is sad, but the way it was written was horrible - starts off like a happy-go-lucky story...
  2. welcome and congrats ashley! happy planning

  4. as far as i remember, rendezvous is the best place to have it - that's the lobby bar. it's usually pretty empty at night. the sports bar is empty too (ppl wake up early and go to bed early), but isn't the atmosphere you're looking for, i'm sure. the other two bars are tiny. the one by seaside grill is mostly for ppl in the pool, and the other by the beach is just a little hut. there's a swim up bar in the main pool, but i don't think you want that either as far as hair and makeup, you need to tell them what you want at dreams. i showed her the exact hair style that i wanted and told her that i wanted natural makeup. i didn't want to look like a drag queen, and felt it was important to look like myself. i didn't want to look at my pictures and not recognize myself. i did menus, i thought it was a nice touch. we didn't know who the minister would be, nor did we know anything about the music, so programs were out.
  5. idk, we set it up w/ the travel agency ahead of time. we wanted a private car and needed to make sure it could hold our luggage.
  6. jenny, i don't know how i missed these, but you looked beautiful!!! and OMG, your cake!!!! can't wait to see the dw pics!
  7. we got cute beach bags (pic in my siggy) and people used them on the beach. i've seen some of our guests use them since but that may be just to show me they use them.
  8. i've been to the public house in nyc...if it's the same, it's a fun place, but i was there for happy hour. my sis has been trying to get me to go to swanky bubbles FOREVER but we never seem to make it there. i can give you the names of some fun shore bars in nj, but they're only fun during the summer. let me know if you want them!
  9. we've ordered in every v-day since our first together, when we were lost in a ghetto and 3 hours late for an overpriced dinner at a just-ok restaurant...however, this year, since our anniversary is 2/16, we'll be using our tao gift certificate on 2/13, and i'll be going back into nyc on 2/14 to spend the night with out of town friends.
  10. seriously, it looks like a LOT of makeup, but once she took the lipstick off, she looked like her regular self again you can kind of see her hair in the mirror of the 1st pic. it was exactly what she wanted. unfortunately, i don't have close ups of anyone else's makeup or hair.
  11. the girl that did my hair was blanca. idk the name of the girl that did my bm's hair, but it came out nice. i'll see if i can find a pic of it. blanca did my makeup too, and it was perfect. the other chick did the bm's makeup and she looked like a whore...but she wiped off the lipstick and was fine . i'll post back if i can find a pic.
  12. what about a charm bracelet w/ a charm to commemorate your wedding? then the kids can add on for each major event in their lives.
  13. ick. i hope they realize how valuable he is!!
  14. while waiting for the prices, i'd contact the resort to see if they have your date available..if they don't have your date, you'll certainly be able to choose which place
  15. i have no idea, but since we rarely drink milk, i always keep milk boxes (like juice boxes) in the house just in case someone wants some or i need some for cooking. they're either in the baking aisle or the juice box aisle.
  16. if i could do it again, i'd have people rsvp via our website. if a few technophobes needed to call instead, i'd be ok w/ phone calls. to me, it was a waste of stamps, esp. b/c tons of ppl never ever sent them back.
  17. i agree w/ chiquita - either just you and fi, or include her. she is immediate family, whether you like it or not. when dh and i did our legal thing, we invited his brother's gf (now fiance) even though we can't stand her...we just felt it was the right thing to do.
  18. in our STD newsletter, we had suggested travel dates (thursday through monday). most people came on thurs and left on monday. some came a day earlier or stayed a day later, but no one expected us to be there with them the whole time. we planned a rehearsal dinner and did whatever we wanted the rest of the time. turned out that we actually liked vacationing with friends and family and were kind of sad when everyone left....
  19. i think you need to decide what's more important - having your parents there or having a dw - if you choose to stay home you can't be mad at your parents because it was your decision.
