  2. we're having the same problem...we dont want to end up with lousy decorations and food...we know we'll be upgrading, and we're thinking about getting an outside WC to help (b/c the current one is worthless, as far as i'm concerned). i wanted a destination wedding so i didnt have to plan, but now i'm spending day and night in front of this computer, panicking (sp?) b/c i dont want my guests to feel that it wasn't worthwhile for them to come. we got the ultimate package, but i'm unhappy w/ the food choices. i think i may send our WC pics of what i want and see if she can do that. i have no idea if i answered your question or if i just rambled.....i'm becoming a (bridezilla kinda...)
  3. we'll be 4 years sometime in early october...we think it's the 5th, but never really celebrate it anyway...sometimes, it seems like forever and then next day, it feels like we just met yesterday!
  4. i'm chocolate on chocolate....makes sense

If they would just walk in our shoes for one week (which most would probably not even survive)...they would have a whole different opinion. In fact, when my FI was waiting to get hired by a PD, he substituted for awhile. He actually subbed for my class..which was the BEST thing ever for our relationship He was practically on his hands and knees praising me for being able to teach for a living. Then he said, and I quote, "I will NEVER give you a hard time about teaching again"...and he never has People who make degrading comments like that are just plain ignorant. And the most frustrating part is that you cannot argue with an ignorant person because they are never going to "get it". AHHHH We feel your pain Martha. i have been begging FI to come in but he has no desire to...he knows how difficult my job is, just like i know how difficult (and different) his is....he came in w/ me to pack up my class at the end of the year and was shocked at how much junk i have in the class to occupy the day (centers, library, etc.). now that im moving schools, i may make him come in tho...just to say hi... i told FI that i expected an apology from the a$$hole, but he said not to hold my breath...to think about where the comment is coming from and ignore it...i said easier said than done............................. i'll no longer be part of the 2nd grade teaching club here, as i'll be moving back up to 4th grade this year!
  12. i have 2 - a blue daisy on my lower back, left side (small, off-center tramp stamp) and a black and blue hieroglyphic elephant on the top of my foot, right near my pinky toe. the one on my foot needed to be touched up right after it healed (5 yrs ago) but i haven't done that yet...the one on my back needs to be touched up too. always forget sunscreen on them....i dont regret either one...the elephant had meaning when i got it (love elephants and teaching about hieroglyphics was one of the first things i taught my first class), but doesn't really mean anything anymore...when i got the daisy, i didt it b/c i was mad at my then-boyfriend....but i love daisies, so can't regret it! my back didn't hurt at all, but my foot - !!!!!!!!!!! wow did that hurt, and i have a decent threshold for pain! i also had my belly button done but took that out a few years ago after i thought i was too heavy for it.
  13. hahaa, you'll laugh when i tell you what we're using.... "tied the knot" by digital underground...
  14. i'm too late to vote, but i vote for whichever you like.... i like the fact that it will be accompanied by a journal, nice idea!

  16. so tonight, we went out for dinner to celebrate my FI's business partner's (dog's aunt's stepmom's, lol) 26th birthday...after a few drinks, he all of a sudden decides that it's 'pick on lauren' time. fine, i can blow most things off - until he asks, "so you chose to teach 2nd graders...what does that say about you? does that mean you're not smart enough to teach 6th graders?" ....... ok, this guy has a 6 year old son, who JUST HAPPENS TO BE A TROUBLEMAKER IN SCHOOL.....(not my school, tho)... has it occurred to him that the reason his child continuously disobeys the teacher is due to HIS OWN lack of respect for teachers? so i respond with some smart ass remark about how he's a mortgage broker and not using his own college degree; what does it say about him? (no offense meant to anyone here, obviously my FI is a broker as well) and then i followed that with something to the effect of "it's people like me taking the time out to teach kids like your son" and then he starts saying crap about how he wouldn't want me teaching his kid, how teachers don't make money, they don't do anything, etc...and this isn't the first time he's started with me, last time it was about how i have summers and weekends off (which isn't true - this is the first summer that i have EVER not worked, and i bust my butt on the weekend to make up for not doing stuff during the week, incl. lesson plans), how i have the easier job from 9-3, etcetc. now, i know that teaching is not considered a noble profession by most people....the old saying "those who can't, teach"?!?! but where the f*** would this A****** be today without teachers!??!?!!?!?! sorry so long, it's a common argument that i have with people, but i'm not as tolerant with people i have to regularly socialize with.

But I'm pretty sure it's normal to have these types of dreams. I'm so worried I'm going to forget something for this wedding. I'm sure these dreams are going to keep on coming for the next 8 months. Lovely. hehe, you're lucky that you're sleeping!
  18. that's a pretty cool idea, actually....another idea (i think from someone one here) was to have ppl sign sand dollars and then put them in a big decorative jar to display at home. we're not 'stuff' people, so i dont want another object that will sit on a shelf and collect dust; however i do want some kind of guest/best wishes book...so i'm thinking about either doing a plain guest book, or putting out tons of postcards for ppl to sign and putting them into a photo album which can sit on the shelf and collect dust.
  19. amy i saw a centerpiece today and thought of you - square glass candle holders w/ votives in them...all set up in a pyramid, i think a 4x4 square, covered by a 3x3 square, 2x2 square and 1 on top...enough space for air to get in, looked VERY pretty!!!! set up some sea glass around it, or colored votives and voila!
