Yay! I bought it. I just bought a 30D from someone on Shawn's forum(COFphoto) Then I ordered a 50mm f/1.8 lens. I still plan to buy a wider angle lens & a flash. But, I'll start with this for now. Thanks for the advice everyone!

Hello, From Chris Van Atta Surf Fashion Wedding Photography
rodent replied to chris van atta's topic in Newbies!!
Hey, I didn't realize you were already a member before I "met" you. I emailed Chris the other day about a friend's wedding near Wilmington (writesville beach). I find myself playing matchmaker between brides & photographers pretty often lately. Welcome! -

Sarah was one of my favorites last year. I loved the sexy suspender dance! This year my favorite is Katee for the girls & Mark for the boys, although I like all the guys. Twitch's solo (mad conductor) was one of my favorite solos. I'm a big fan of tabitha & napolean (love my hip hop with emotion) and mia michaels (as a choreographer NOT a judge). This seaon my favorite dance has been the one to "no air." I save every episode on my tivo & rewatch the dances. The show is so good. Oh & I love kat deeley.

My wedding music video
rodent posted a topic in Post your Destination Wedding & Engagement Pictures!
OK, you guys said you are not sick of seeing my pictures, so here they are again. It's a 5 1/2 minute slideshow set to music. This is just the first draft. I still need to add in some pan/zoom effects. I'm would like to incorporate my wedding video when it arrives if that's possible. I don't know what kind of file it will be. Our wedding slideshow- first draft on Vimeo Created with windows movie maker. Transitions will be done with Rehan's pan zoom effects $8 Rehan Pan Zoom Effects UPDATE i finished the second draft. I added some panning & zooming. is it too much? I'd like to slow down some of the zooming, but you can't with the program I have. I don't like to overdo effects to where it's hard on the eyes. I really think it will be nice once I have my video & can add some movement to it. Our wedding video- draft 2 on Vimeo -

Mike stopped playing WOW. The game is too much of a time suck. He switched to another game that allows you to pause. a big problem with warcraft is how you have to get a team together so once that is organized you don't want to stop. so once he was playing he was really stuck. now he plays this game with his dad so it's cool that they are "hanging out." We live in a different state so they can't go do something real together & they aren't much for talking on the phone. So they talk over their headsets as the kill people.

I have a shutterfly question for you. I just read this on another forum. Is it true? I was reading some other posts on another board when I came across this comment on the popular photosharing web-sites and decided that I need to repost it to let everyone on here know: Just make sure to READ the fine print when you sign up for those sites - photobucket, snapfish, shutterfly, etc. all own the rights to your photos after you upload them their and can do with them whatever they please (e.g. sell them as stock photos, sell them to advertisers, etc.). Picassa does something similar, though not quite as bad, in that they own the rights to use them in anything Picassa and/or google related. The only one I know about at this point that DOESN'T steal your photo rights is Mpix (Mpix.com Online Digital Imaging Service - Order digital photo prints online from professional imaging lab). I haven't used them yet, but my photog recommended them b/c of the photo rights issue. I'm sure there are other companies out there, i just haven't taken the time to investigate them....

Best advice - for a while, take it off so the bumps go away - hydrocortizone cream can solve this overnight. then, be really careful about drying your finger off under your ring... The girls who I know that had the problem had yellow gold rings. I'm not sure why it grows there, but if the ring is wet under that would make sense that a fungus would start to grow there. From what I've heard it's common. I take my ring off & dry it on my tshirt everytime I wash my hands. I don't like the way it feels with water under. thats why I never wore a ring until my ering. I've gotten used to it.

Is it fairly easy to get started for a beginner? yes, they even have a video on the website to walk you through it. search lumapix in the forum & you'll find sarah's tutorial. if you get stuck, there are so many of us that use the software & we can get you unstuck. it's very user-friendly though. i'd locate it but I have to run. I'm playing 4-square & badminton with my department!

there is also white gold without nickle. it could also be a fungus. 2 of my friends had this fungus from their rings. they had to get it cleaned really well & it went away.

We walked down the aisle to a counting crows song.

How easy is it to do the superimposed photo (big photo in the background with a few photos on top)? Also do you order the book from them, if not, who? I used my publisher for our families' books but I still haven't started on our book because I want to customize the pages more than I was able to with my publisher, and I figure it will take me forever. But you have given me hope! I LOVE the use of all the quotes and wording from your ceremony. It adds SO SO much. I was just going to put our vows and nothing else, because normally I find quote overload (i.e. using more than one or two quotes) to be cheasy, but I love how you used the songs from your wedding day. I'm gonna steal the "Celebrate we will becuase Life is short but sweet for certain" quote because it's so perfect and we are big DMB fans. Other than that I'll look at our wedding day songs and see what else I can pull out. THANKS for the inspiration!!! lumapix is only for making the pages. then you export them as jpgs & upload them to any website. I'm uploading my families into shutterfly or snapfish. i have a bunch of free book codes. for my book i might do asuka books or something a little nicer. i do find it really hard to find quotes that suite me. but, there are so many song lyrics that really do reflect my feelings. lumapix is so easy once you get the hang of it. you should download the free trial. sarah made a tutorial thread. you just drag & drop in your pictures & then size them how you want. it's very easy to put the big picture in the back. you just say "set as canvas background." Now that I've worked with lumapix, I can not stand being stuck with templates. You can get by with the basic $40 version for most stuff. You just cant export over 2000 pixels for your biggest side. But, I even made a 12x12 book using the basic version & just kept the resolution lower than ideal. It still looked very nice. I went ahead & paid the extra to upgrade to the next version because I use the program so much. hope that made sense. it is the kind of program you can just pick up & play with and learn as you go.

Kristie - great job! I like the use of the quotes and lyrics. I might have to steal that idea! steal away. I got the inspiration from another BDW bride. Those were the songs we had playing after the ceremony when we were toasting. They were still on while mike & i were taking pictures near the site. the rest of the text is from our ceremony. I need to add our vows. I just don't have them typed up. And maybe a few quotes.

You seriously need to flip your talents into a career, or at least a sideline gig, you're stuff always looks so nice! And, I echo the sentiment that looking at beautiful pictures never gets tiring, it just makes me more excited about my own wedding day!! Thanks! I used Lumapix fotofusion. You can get a free trial on their website (not for macs though). I was really surprised how fast I got it together. It usually takes me much longer to make a book. I think I spent about 3 hours on it last night. The final versions will take much longer, especially the one I make for us to keep. There are so many great pictures I had to leave out of this book. I can't believe how many "favorites" I have. Quote: Originally Posted by NewOrleansbride Morgan, your wedding looked so perfect! Our Australian wedding
rodent replied to manda0812's topic in Post your Destination Wedding & Engagement Pictures!
Congrats! Looks like fun. Especially the slideshow dancing. -
I hope y'all are not tired of seeing my wedding pictures! Our AHR is back on. We canceled it because my brother is getting married in August & we thought there would be too much going on. Then Mike's mom offered to throw us a really casual AHR. I wanted to put a photobook together quickly before then. Mike is watching the midnight showing of batman so I decided to start working on it tonight. I still need to make the cover, first page & probably make some changes the the first version. The words are from our ceremony script & songs we played after the ceremony. Front cover Back cover & spine
