the point system keeps the forum running. without it, we'd have a lot of people joining, taking all the templates & never contributing. that would really slow down the forum. until you have enough points, bookmark the threads with templates you are interested in. that way once you have enough, you can go back & download them. also, always save them so you don't have to re-download them.

welcome fellow Durham bride! I've seen Raleigh, greensboro & charlotte brides on here, but you are the first i've seen from Durham.

I did have mike take a picture of the BFB in my PJs. -
We recently returned from Texas. My brother got married last weekend & we had a casual AHR the next day. There are some pictures on my blog. I didn't take a lot because I had lots of visiting to do. morgan's photography the party was great. it was really casual. My BIL cooked fajitas. We hung up some decorations & displayed our pictures. if you scroll down farther on my blog you can see some pictures from my brother's wedding.

my mom gave us a towel holder for the kitchen as a wedding gift. we don't need it because we just hang our towels on the fridge. so I bought it to my lab & hung a towel from it. Now I can stop using so many paper towels. I wash my hands all the time because I work with bacteria. Our paper towels are so non-absorbant that I run through so many of them a day.

Wow tammy those pictures are great. i love his little tounge sticking out. the one where he is loking over the fence looks like a stuffed dog. combining your love of dogs & photography really works!

Are OOTs a must? What are alternatives?
rodent replied to Pazoop's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
OOT bags are definitly not required. our guests were surprised to be get one. most only stayed 3 nights, so they didn't really use a lot of the stuff. like the first aid kits. my mom didn't open her's until she got home & then she wished that she knew about the chapstick inside. i'm glad I did them because I had fun with them. but, i really think they are optional. the most useful thing we did was a little coin purse with a clip to hold the room key. my favorite thing was the hair flowers because it was fun to see people wearing them around. i think just a welcome letter would be nice. or if you can attach a small item like a CD (if the room has CD players). most of us get carried away with the OOT bags becasue we are having fun with it. i didn't plan on doing so much at first. -

i would be drawn to the ads mroe if they didn't flash, too. right now i look away quickly because I don't want a headache. if they were still images, I'd want to look at them because I like looking at pictures. the thing that hurts my eyes the most are those glitter ads. luckily there are none here, but those things induce a migraine for me. -

i should add- I'm really happy to the the new one on the top. that way it's really easy to tell someone how to contact a forum TA. the ads could be flying across the screen & I'd still log on to the site all the time. -

i agree with the flashing. i have to minimize my screen & scroll over or they give me a headache. I can't spend much time on websites like photobucket because of all the flashing i usually have to put my hand over ads on that site. i think now that they are on the left & right it's hard to hide them by minimizing the screen. before it was really easy. i look at them often & am interested to see a new one pop up, i just don't like them in the corner of my eye while I'm reading. -

i saw that in default mode the other day. removing ads isn't an option as far as I know. this forum is set up on a program used to run other forums. maybe on some forums when you click those links you get an option to subscribe to the forum or something else to get rid of them. on some forums, guests see ads but members don't. so maybe that is what that link is trying to do. i think it's just a bug that the link is there. the ads support the forum so i don't mind them. flashing ones do give me a headache though so I usally resize my screen so they don't show the whole time im on BDW. -
Diva Cup / Instead Cup - tampon / pad alternative
rodent replied to boscobel's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
OK I'm giving it a try. It was $20 shipped from iherb.com. i looked them up on resellerratings.com & it's legit. i'll stick to using it at home until I feel comfortable with it. i hope it works for me. -

I always get so paranoid that i still have a tampon in. a good thing to know is that after time they find their own way out. i'll avoid getting graphic. i think i'm going to order one of these. they are $23 on amazon. Even though I had a bad experience with the instead cup, i'll give this a try. -

I wouldn't want to use the same pot I cook with. But, I'd be embarassed to have a seperate diva cup pot. maybe a little camping pot that can be stored out of the kitchen. ok i was too embarassed to elaborate on what went terribly wrong with me & the instead cup, but now that this thread has gotten so graphic I'll tell my story. I went #2 & the cup was moved in the process & spilled. it was terrible. I was in a dairy queen bathroom. anyone have that issue with the diva cup? i'd hate to have to remove it each time. also, how do you know it's full & needs to be dumped? I have a really heavy period & I'd hate to be having to dump it a lot from my work bathroom. -

I ended up switching to the other size and it totally solved my problem. As far as feeling it goes...I find that when I first put it in I can feel the stem, but once it's been in for 10-20 minutes it slides up just a bit and don't feel it anymore. Also, if I put it in before I've actually started my period, or at the very end when things aren't as moist down there, I feel it more too. Would you consider cutting the stem off? Personally, I grab the sucker by the bottom of the cup anyway (there's NO WAY tugging on that little stem would unleash the suction for me). At least I'm guessing its the stem that's causing you problems. Just a thought. Good luck! I LOVE not having to change tampons throughout the day!!! how much are they? i'd consider trying again. i hate how much waste pads & tampons generate. mind if I PM you a personal question about how it works? too embarassed to post it -
