  1. he doesn't sound like a great man. i wouldn't be mad at the FI for not going off on him though. its really hard when you know you have a parent who is very flawed, but you want to still love them even if you don't respect them.
  2. I almost went really cheap with my pictures. We kept our wedding budget really small. but, with all the things I kept cheap, photography was the only thing really bothering me. I started off just hoping to get good pictures from our guests. I'm so glad I didn't stick with that plan. Then I thought I'd pay the $600 for the resort photographer & just hope they were decent. Luckily I found some info on them to see pictures in advance. they are not good at all. so my 3rd step was to book erick rodriguez for 2 1/2 hours for $1000. I think I would have been very happy with the pics, but we wouldn't have a lot of them with just 2 1/2 hours. I ended up meeting kristie on this site not long before my wedding. It was pretty impulsive for me (i'm not impulsive) but I totally changed my photography plans & hired her. so instead of 2 1/2 hours we had 3 days of pictures. I can not describe how much my pictures mean to me. also, with the digital negatives I can do so much with the pics. it's not just one album of prints. I'm currently working on photobooks for our family for Christmas. When we were home recently I brought each mom & grandma a 5x7 metallic print. They loved it. I've mailed my mom some prints & she carries them all over with her. I love pictures so I am so glad I allowed myself to go over budget on photography. other than that, we kept everything in budget (or below). can you cut back anywhere else? I did cheap invites, cheap dress, DIY for just about everything... I do think 10 years from now the pictures will mean even more. I still look at kid pictures from 25 years ago all the time. if my grandparents had wedding pictures, I'd love looking through them. unfortunately back then they didn't take so many pictures. I only have one of my grandma in her dress. but, could you imagine how cool it would be to see an entire album?
  3. I was in organic chem class my junior year of college. I dind't know what happened until I got to my next class. The prof had a website up on the screen. He said a few things about it & said he was worried about what this means for a freedom when we travel & then went right into lecturing. It was so confusing. I still didn't know what happened & had to sit there & think about genetics. I thought that it would have only been the people on the flight that were killed. On the way to my car after class, they had a radio news broadcast playing on the bus. everyone was silent listening.

I am glad we are staying with my parents right now...I feel like I have to take care of them, even though they are in better "condition" than I am! i just looked at the new projected path. I hope it loses strength because it's heading right for my family.

I told my PA friends that if we had one, my fam and friends would be like, is this a strip tease? dollar dance? Hehe, but I thought it was a great time.... even though I didn't see that there was a line and my Jersey booty cut right in front of everyone and handed over a $5 for a quick dance! LOL.... These things are not tacky... my friends tried to tell me no electirc slide and was like "HECK YEAH! Boogie woogie woogie!" yeah everyone has things they like that others think are tacky. When i go to a wedding I want to dance to all the silly stuff. I want to do the macarena. there better be some baby got back. maybe a little YMCA. one man's tacky is another man's good time

  10. I do like these tables. it doesn't really work if one set of parents is divorced though so I didn't consider it.

I've heard you also need an FM3 visa to work at azul or EDR. those can take 9 months to get & cost about $100. They last a year. I thought you just had to do the work visa thing on the flight. it's all so unclear.

What's wasteful about amazing pictures? Pictures are the material possession I value more than any other. OK, i know preaching to the choir, but I get really annoyed by those P&E girls. close minded old biddies is right
  13. not just pregnant women should worry about mercury. it can harm anyone. just a developing baby is more at risk. it's a dose thing. some exposure to mercury is ok. you just don't want too much. "Over the past several years, studies have suggested that mercury may also cause health problems for adults, including an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and neurological symptoms." http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/23/dining/23sushi.html tuna has the highest levels. so if you love tuna sushi, you can still eat it, but mix it with other types so you aren't eating a whole lot of tuna. tuna has great qualities too. it's very high in omega 3 fatty acids. for this reason some people try to eat tuna several times a week. my BIL was doing this. But, it's better to keep it in moderation. that's usually the rule for any envionmental toxin. keep your doses low. usually moderation keeps you safe.

I looked at those carefully before I picked my date. June is the start of the season, but there were no instances of hurricanes in the area in june. season runs june-nov, but their are definitly peak months. you also want to think about being late in hurrcane season or right after it, because it can take a while to recover. the resorts do usually clean up fast as long as it wasn't a huge storm.
