  1. I am so sorry! you have been amazing through this mess. your attitude is so positive. you really deserve the most amazing wedding possible. I'll be thinking about you on saturday. planning threads can wait. we just want you to get to mexico & have the time of your life.
  2. i walked in to a counting crows song my husband's friend recorded on his keyboard. we walked out to u2s beautiful day. i posted a link to an orchestra that records rock music in a classical style. they have many great choices if you want something different. the thread is somewhere on BDW.
  3. yes, they are the same brand. i posted a thread about all these discount dress places. I ordered a BM dress for $100 less from one of these places. they are cheap because they don't have the overhead of a bridal salon
  4. definitly fill out a FAFSA. FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid when you start a FAFSA, request your PIN right away. it takes a little while so you want to do that first. you have to wait on it in the mail. Do NOT do private student loans!!! they can raise your interest rates at any time & you can never default on them. the best student loan is a federally subsiized stafford loan. you do not pay interest while in school. After you graduate, interest starts 6 months later, but it is usually a good rate. stafford loans are around $8,000 per semester I worked at a gym in the evenings my first 2 years of college. after that I did work-study in a lab. that was great, because i was getting paid & learning so much. i probably learned more from working in the lab than i did in class. i do science research. also, they tend to be understanding that you are a student & can not make work your #1 priority. most work study jobs allow you to take off when you have a lot of exams or study at work. i could also fit in an hour between classes because parking was too much of an issue to go home. what do you want a degree in? it's often a good idea to get a job that helps with your future career.
  5. i've been a BM so many times. traditional ettiquette is that the Bride & groom pay for your hotel and maybe travel (cant remember if that is on thsoe lists). no one ever has. these are with local, out of town or out of state wedding. so I imagine they adapted the DW ettiquette from that. i was going to do the wait & see who books approach, but then we decided to just scrap having a bridal party. i'm really happy we did. none of mike's would be grooms men made it. it was just simpler.
  6. no wait that doesn't work. how would you write mandylicious. does mand*y*licious then make you say "Y" i don't know the grammar of the *'s
  7. i prefer mand*y*licious or you can always come up with something sillier
  8. i've got to get back to work (reading papers on a saturday night) a LOL cat break always helps BTW, you need a better user title. full member doesn't cut it

So I don't have to give up absolutely everything. I eat good though... eggs for breakfast, yogurt for a snack, salad or a lean cuisine toasted sandwich, weight watchers snack bar, then supper can be good or bad... if it's bad, I try to ensure it falls within the calorie range that I allow for supper. yeah, you don't have to give it up. I agree anything in moderation fits with a healthy diet. i just prefer to eat my calories than drink them so it was something easier to cut. i couldn't do MGD 64. somehow i became a fancy beer drinker when i started grad school. now i like to always try something new & drink more microbrews. most of my friends are at the world beer festival today trying all sorts of beers. beer is pretty big here in durham. beer isn't as bad as margaritas & pina coladas. in college i tried what i was calling my "two shots diet." the plan was to take 2 shots before i started drinking beer so i'd drink less. nope, i just got much drunker. i probably even drank more. so much for that

I wanted to see if any of them could fill us in after-the-fact.. if they got the answers while they were there, ya know? Anyway, sorry again. I understand what you were asking now. check out this area Wedding Reviews so many cabo brides posted their reviews. we all try to share what worked & what didn't after the wedding. this is also a BDW favorite http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t6691
  11. i haven't had alcohol since this started, but i'm thinking that i will want to drink at a party next weekend. the theme is "dress likea robot." i think i'll do a diet coke & jack mix. much lower cal than beer. it's hard to dress like a robot sober
  12. yes, don't forget if they stay elsewhere there will be a ~$50-$100 day pass fee. it was very important for all of us to stay at the same hotel. to avoid having guests stay elsewhere, i picked a less expensive hotel. i just did a lot of research to make sure i found a place that i loved that wasn't expensive. if it was just the two of us going, i probably would have picked a fancier place, but i really loved our hotel. my favorite part of a DW was all being at the hotel together. it was so much fun!! when we'd head to the buffet, we'd just ask for a big table and people would join us. it was awesome my family, his family & our friends spending time together. we live out of state & never had the opportunity for a get together like this. it was also nice for the guests that on the wedding day they could just walk on over & then head back to their rooms to freshen up before dinner. what about moving to secrets after your wedding for a honeymoon?

Then me & a bunch of other RM brides added lots of stuff. I mean, there is still a lot of info in the cabo forum, but just not as much for the topics i was looking for. or maybe it is just that the types of activities i was looking for are not in cabo. as i plan my trip to cabo, i do plan on posting everything i can on BDW and of course details when i return.
  15. will they give you dreams puerto aventuras as an option once it opens? the location is more similar to DT than DC is.
  16. are you only looking in the cabo forum? there is a "what I would have done & would not have done" thread in the general area. many cabo brides post in there. cabo is a very popular area for weddings on this forum so keep looking around. you should be able to find tons of info. and things don't change that fast. if an area was a good place to TTD in 2007, you can count on it being a good place for 2010.
  17. way to go ladies! my small victory for the week was going to a friday happy hour and only having a diet coke & a banana. There was beer, ice cream, chips & other unhealthy options. I had just as much fun as i do when i drink & pig out at these things. tonight a friend is coming over to turbo jam with me.
  18. if your intricate invite is something like a boarding pass then no i don't think it's rude. that type of invite implys the person is going. if it's not a boarding pass, maybe just put something on the invite that makes it "i'm going to the wedding" specific. that way it doesn't look like you played favorites, but rather had an invite specifically for people going, to either give them more info or whatever.
