  4. i forgot to weigh this morning. i'll have to weigh when i get home. i usually do it in the mornings. i don't know how this week has been for me. I haven't had any events this week that make it hard to eat right, so I've been pretty good. i skipped a cookie party on saturday because I know it would have been too stressful to go & try to not eat cookies. I don't really like cookies anyway, but i'd eat them because i'm there. instead i did taebo with a friend. i don't care for social events revolving around food.
  5. I googled & I think caravan= trailer Clutter Magazine: Who lives in a caravan like this.... so she is trailer trash, not a gypsy. Oh, & i can say trailer trash because I lived in a trailer in college.
  6. i'm also confused by what "living in a caravan" means.
  7. hmm, not sure. i think of a funeral outfit. don't people wear black bird cages veils at funerals? i might be wrong on that. or is it while in mourning?
  8. here is mine It's a postcard. the back will have a short letter about our year.

This can become addicting I downloaded LumaPix and I've been playing around creating a few pages. 1. Do I need to allow a margin when I create a page? Say (for example) the size of the book in Snapfish is 12x12 should an allowance be made for a margin? Of approximately how much? Should the margin be the same for all size of books? Or do different manufacturers have different margins? 2. If I have a picture that is rectangle and would like it to be oval, can I do this with Lumapix or should I do it before in another program? (I do have the full Adobe suite but find it too intimidating, but I can get Katie to edit pictures for me if necessary). Thank you for your help and inspirational ideas! some of the photobook companies have margin quidelines. so far i've only ordered from shutterfly & snapfish. (BTW, have you already ordered the book from snapfish? shutterflys quality is a lot better) I don't do a specific margin. i just don't put text near the edge. I usually aim for 1/2 inch around the edges, but sometimes I get as close as 1.4 inch. I did have some things get cropped in my last book. nothing bad. I need to see what margins I used there. when i first made the books using lumapix, I allowed more space for the margin that was in the binding. it took more time so i stopped doing that. I think there are oval frames. I haven't done it, but i'm pretty sure there is an option for making different shapes in lumpix.

(I was also considering My Publisher, since I've read good reviews on that.) It might be better to err on the side of having a thinner margin (1/8"?), and allowing part of the edge to be cut off, as opposed to having a margin show. It may also depend on how many pages you have in your book. Any advice on this? Also, I read a great detailed review for Lumapix Fotofusion here: Gorgeous Photo Layouts with LumaPix's FotoFusion v4 - Thoughts Media Forums But I'm totally confused about what he says about PPI/DPI with the Essentials version. I tried to google this topic, but got even more confused. All I want to know is, if I just get the Essentials version, will I be able to print a good quality 12x12 photobook? The article says I will only get 166ppi on a 12x12 print which doesn't seem so great. But I've also read other articles that say ppi doesn't matter. Please help... I don't want to shell out $120 for the Enhanced version. I made a 12x12 book with the essentials version. I never saw it in print because I made it for a friend. but she said it looked great. I also make calendars that are about 11 x8.5. they looked great with the essentials max resolution. 300dpi is just a goal, but you can be below it & get great prints.
  12. what size is your page? when i had the basic version, i couldn't do a 12x12 page at 300dpi. i did 200 or 250 instead & it printed great. I think the max was 2000px for the longest length. for the next version up, you can not make something over 19x13. I wanted to make a 10x20 collage. so i will probably make it 1/2 the size but at the higest resolution I can.

Plus, things lose so much value once they are owned, so I would feel very upset after spending so much money on something and not getting that money back. I know that, if we have to, we will take out a loan, then after the wedding, within a few months, we can pay it off. I also do blame myself, because I am very good with money, that I did not take the wedding budget in my own hands. I am the one who is doing all the buying/planning/etc., so in all actualilty, I should be the one controlling the money for it too, instead of always going to him to get it. This has definately been a huge eye opener for both of us. We both need to work on this together, and I don't want to blame him 100% for it, because that gets us, as a couple, no where. Thankfully, we caught it before it got much worse. ~~ ok that is different since you like the tv too. if everytime you looked at it, it made you angry about how much it costs, then I'd think it's worth selling even for 1/2 what you paid.
  14. Compulsive Shopping Cause: Since most people believe the problem is income, they mis-identify the cause as something outside of themselves; their job, boss, spouse, taxes, the creditors, prices, etc. This form of denial effectively blocks any kind of solution, locking us into an ever deepening problem. Though spending is usually the main symptom, and this, triggered by emotion, the cause goes much deeper. When we continue to pile up spending, the cause is usually rooted in the Spending Cycle: 1. We start with an emptiness, or negative self-esteem; a feeling of incompleteness. 2. Signals all around us tell us if we had some thing, we'd be seen as more important, successful, loveable, or complete, etc. The signals come from family, friends, co-workers, TV, radio, the Internet...anyone who has influence over us. 3. We spend to get that success feeling, sharing news of our shrewd acquisition with anyone who will say, "oooooooo." 4. When the bills come in we feel even more incomplete and powerless than before, starting the cycle all over again. Until we own the cause as something within us, we will never have a solution. The actual cause of compulsive shopping addiction, then, is that feeling of emptiness and low self-esteem. Solving this incompleteness is key to finding the solution to compulsive shopping addiction. How to manage compulsive shopping or spending addiction

I know it's nothing bad: like drugs or booze, but what would make a person spend so much money in such little time? I think the message that I was trying to get across to him is sinking in though. ~~ yes, people do have out of control spending phases. it's promising to hear that he used to be good with money & this was a recent thing.

He didn't want to do that. He knows that he is at fault, but I also am taking some of the responsibility for not "writing down" everything that I needed to purchase. He really doesn't want to postpone the wedding, we are both looking forward to it so much, afterall it is our wedding. I think with me threatening him, it scared the poo out of him, because he emailed his banker and told him that he needs to set up a meeting with him as soon as possible- with me there too. He admitted that he has a shopping problem, which is huge. How I found out? He told me. He sat down beside me and said "I screwed up big time." I know that he thought that he was okay, because he had some money saved up in a "rainly day" investment that would ultimately cover the cost of the wedding, but, because the stock market crashed and the Canadian dollar fell off it's rocker, he lost over half of it. We are going to meet with the banker this week to figure out options, because depleating our bank accounts is not an option. I do really see some good coming out of this. We have had some communitcation errors in the past, but nothing this severe. Plus, I told him that my biggest concern was the fact that he isn't taking my opinion into consideration. I told him how much that hurts and I know that by me saying that, it finally hit home. He really wants this to work, and so do I, so we are going to try to figure something out instead of postponing the wedding. Plus, I'm going to phone the local church and see if I can get up into pre-marital classes. I can honestly say, I have never been that mad in my life. Wow, I think that there was steam coming out of my ears. ~~ I have been thinking about you since you posted this. I feel much better after reading what you just wrote. I'm glad to hear that he told you about it, instead of you catching him. I'm also glad he has admitted he has a shopping problem. shopping addictions often come from low self esteem where the person is trying to validate themselves with the things they buy. can you two sell the TV? This has the potential to make you a stronger couple if you tackle the problem correctly. I think the pre-marital counseling sounds like a good idea. He may need individual counseling, too. i'm glad you have the appointment together with the banker. it really sounds like you two are improving your communication.
  17. i agree- this is a much bigger issue than finding money for the wedding. how did you find out the money was gone? have you checked his fico score? could he have other issues with money you don't know about? the fact that you have been a student & not contributing financially does not give him the right to call all the shots with money. he should have been honest with you.
  18. I found frames. I printed a draft of a name. I still plan to swap out some of these letters. frame #1 the opening is 19.5 x 4.5 Its a decorative picture, so I had to cut the back open to swap out the picture. It wasn't hard to do. I'll probably tape it back with packaging tape. This is what it looked like: frame #2 this one has a family cut out. it's a 3 picture mat, so I need to cut the dividers. It wasn't hard to do with a blade. I think i need to put colored paper behind "family" What color do you think i should use for surrounding the letters? i just did white for the draft to save ink. I plan on ordering 10x20 metallic prints from mpix & trimming them ($11) both were $13 at kohls. it was a sale price, but kohls almost always has everything on sale.
  19. i wouldn't repost. you could ask a mod to move it, but i don't know what is a better catagory. you wouldn't want to put it in the wrong place just because it gets more traffic. I never look in catagories. i only check my unread posts. the weekends are not as active here.

  21. I recently ordered 5 photobooks of our wedding pictures for our family. I had both snapfish & shutterfly coupon codes, so it's a great opportunity to compare the two. Short review- Shutterfly books are all around better Cover- The shutterfly cover is sturdier at the end of the book with the binding. other than that they are the same. I ordered both leather & satin covers. I really prefer the satin. my favorite cover type is the photocover, but that is not available for the 8.5 x 11 size. Inside- the shutterfly book has a black cover page & last page. it is not in the snapfish book. The binding in the shutterfly book is slightly exposed. print quality- the shutterfly colors are more vibrant and the pictures are much sharper. on some pictures in the snapfish book, the print has subtle stripes in the color. page thickness- the shutterfly pages are thicker. shipping speed- i ordered the snapfish books 2-3 days earlier & they arrived on the same day. both were very fast. I think it took less than a week to get them in. Overall the shutterfly book wins every catagory. I am VERY happy with the quality of every shutterfly book I've bought. This was the first snapfish book I've ordered. I am not dissapointed because I got it for 1 cent. I do still think it's a nice product, but I will not order books from them again unless it's a great price. I will be ordering an MPIX book of my wedding pictures eventually so I can then compare that to shutterfly.
  22. 100FREEBPR exp 11/15/08 I'm so excited to learn about this. you mail them a box of pictures & you get digital images on a CD/DVD back. I've gone through the tedious process of scanning so many kid pics. I planned on doing more in the future, but now I'm just doing this. I placed my order for the 100 free scans. You print a pre-paid shipping label, put the pics in a box & drop it off at UPS. Shipping for my 100 free pics was $8. Also, you can send in up to 200 pics and pick the 100 you want. without the code, it's 24 or 27 cents a picture. I'll update once I get my pictures scanned. They do red eye removal & color correction, too. It takes about 2 1/2 weeks. ScanCafe
