I put a link to this thread in my siggy because I've been needing more ferret in my life. I set my tivo to pick up anything with ferret in the title about a year ago. my friend busted me last night, when I was clicking through so we could watch a show. i ws just hoping to get the pbs documentary about ferrets. Did you make it through all the pages?
  2. I'm always surprised to see how much people spend on their BMs here. I didn't have BMs, but in all the times I've been one I'd estimate the bride spent $20-$50. My favorite gift would be for the bride to pay for the dress.
  3. I organized a casual BBQ for my department for 2 years. I was surprised how cheaply we were able to feed so many people when buying in bulk. Sams has boxes of burgers for around $9 for 40. They were really good, too. Everything was packaged for restaurants & really easy to cook fast because there wasn't a lot of wrapping. Then we have a keg of beer & large bottles of yellowtail for the alcohol.

I agree. the 11x14 is nice, but the 16x20 is much more impressive. we do not have a lot of wall space in our apartment. but, for a larger place especially with high ceilings, a huge canvas would look great. We could put a huge canvas in the bedroom & take down an older print. Now I just need the right picture for that. I think a beautiful landscape would work.

  9. I bought from a company that only sells directly to photographers. Mpix has them, too. They are not the same quality, but I have heard they are very nice.

I'm really happy with the 16x20. I was going to get just an 11x14, but I don't think it would have had the same impact.
  11. I just received two canvas gallery wraps today. I LOVE them!! I bought these from a place that only sells directly to photographers. Your wedding photographer likely sells pro-quality wraps. Other places online have them, too. I just wanted to share mine to give you ideas for your own wedding pictures. I feel a little self-concious about having a huge picture of me hanging up, so I decided on this one where we are walking away the 16x20 the 11x14 this is a mirror-wrap style. THe other way to do this is gallery style
  12. please use descriptive titles. I saw "please read me" so I read it, but I have no advice for ROR. For future titles, say something like "ROR brides needs help." Many of us just scan the unread posts & don't look through the sections. All the answers to your questions are probably in ROR threads. So many girls have had their wedding there. Sure it can be a lot to dig through, but it really helps if all this info is kept together, not just posted on every thread that pops up asking for the answers.
  13. My dad loved Mexico so much that he is going back this Summer. He won't leave the resort area, so proximity to cool places to visit isn't important. A nice beach doesn't matter so much either. He would love a hotel that had karaoke every night. It has to be an AI. The closer to the airport the better. He is in a wheelchair so a place that isn't so huge would be best. Any recommendations? He really liked the hotel where we got married, but I don't think it would be the best for his vacation. It was an hour from the airport & that van ride was rough on him. He liked how small it was so it wasn't hard to get from his room to the buffet. But, they only had karaoke one night a week & it wasn't very good. My dad loves to sing.

That makes me think words like natural, true, essence... oh, I did a spell check on essence & got the idea to look at synonyms.... spirit, core, honest, sincere i'd avoid candid. a lot of people mistake the word candid for posed silliness. plus it's used a lot. I don't think a tagline is that useful if it doesn't say something unique about you. I'm pulling out the big, fat thesaurus my grandma gave me in elementary school. I was the envy of the 5th grade with my huge thesaurus. the funniest thing is that she used the same word twice in the letter she wrote on the front cover. brb...
  17. I see you read jasmine's blog I'd avoid the three word cath phrases. they have just become too popular lately & it has lost it's impact. I think there was a workshop that encouraged people to come up with them. After reading Jasmine's blog post I started thinking about catch phrases, too. I think it's really important to keep it true to your style. So I think the first step is to really nail down what your style is. maybe gather up your favorite pictures that you've shot & see what they have in common. Some of my favorites are in my siggy. What I love is a big laugh or other real emotions. My favorite is kids in action playing and having fun. I'll have that in my head today & see if a tagline comes to mine. Also, think about the people who would be a good fit for working with you. Are you all about the glamour? Passion? One of my favorite taglines is SarahQ's "photography for happy people." She will add in additional adjectives, too. It really fits what she does & who she works with. Good luck. I'll look through your pictures & post if I think of soemthing.
  18. I think we should start a club. Our slogan can be "old brides never die, they just get hobbies." I started getting interested in photography a few months before my wedding & really couldn't wait to have planning wrapped up so I could move on to something new. For anyone feeling a bit of emptiness, find something new to love. Think about what you enjoyed the most about the wedding planning & find a hobby similar. I know for me it was the DIY projects. That got me working with photoshop which led to me really wanting a nice camera. I love being married. I didn't think anything would change, but there is just this wonderful extra feeling of love around us. It's subtle, but there is definitly something different.

It was like all I did was talk on here about what I was doing and how excited I was and then after I posted my pics and review I was like....ok now what?? But luckily I found my way back and have been on here tons lately LOL!! And I feel so lucky to have made so many friends on here too! i wondered where you went
  20. I had a different experience. after my wedding I was burnt out on all things bridal. I only stick around here to see what my BDW friends are up to & I hardly check in on the planning threads. I did enjoy the wedding planning, but I am so relieved it is done. I've become totally obsessed with photography since the wedding so that fills my time that was spent on wedding planning.

My email is [email protected]. I am obsessed with your thread of getting ready! It's been very inspirational! Thanks, Alexis it's uploaded to a thread around here somewhere. it's called something like "morgan's getting ready brochure." I archived all of my wedding stuff & that file was too large to email. If you don't have enough points now to download, just bookmark it & come back to it. I also put lots of catalonia stuff in a catalonia thread. there is a search tool on the upper right side. you can also do advanced search to find threads started by me. or click my planning thread in my siggy. I've pretty much posted everything I could. It's funny to see this thread bumped. I was so clueless when i first started planning hopefully that gives people hope that they can DIY any projects they want to try.
  22. yes, ann I think it's best to close this thread. I do think she enjoyes the drama & won't stop. I am ready for it to stop. I have a terrible headache now & just want her to go away.
  23. I REALLY hope this stops now. It may have been slightly amusing yesterday, but now it's just miserable. She is dragging other people into it. It feels like she will stop at nothing to make me miserable until I remove my review. I am going to stop responding to her on weddingwire now & hope that she goes away. did you see how she kept calling tonya "tonya" like it's not her real name?
