  1. Be careful with natural products. They are not regulated or tested & can be dangerous. They can cause side effects with other medication. They can contain something not on the lable that is not good for you. Cancer causing agents can exist in nature so natural doesn't mean it will be safe. Often when these product become popular enough for someone to research them, they get pulled from the market. They also make promises they can't possibly back up and oversimplify the science behind things. An example is the amino acids they sell in health food stores. Amino acids are naturally occuring, but taking them in a pill form isn't a good idea. You can overload your body with one & create a difficiency in another because the excess is preventing other things from getting into your cells. People will get cold sores when taking particular ones due to the deficiency created. My favorite appetite suppresant is an apple. Only 81 calories, but so filling. I have one before I eat lunch & I get full much quicker.
  2. I agree, register. People will get you stuff anyway, so you might as well pick it out. I'd advertise on the website. I'm registering a few places & linking to it from my website. We are not having any showers.
  3. I don't think you should feel obligated to buy the dresses, but I think it's nice to pick out inexpensive dresses. Also, keep in mind how much alterations would cost. If I had BMs, I was going to let them each pick a bright solid color dress. I don't think they'd mind paying for a dress if they can get something they like. It would've been casual dresses too, so they could've kept it as cheap as they want. You can always just pick a color. I've always wished the brides would do that for the weddings I've been in. I'm not a fan of matching dresses. Maybe because I have a closet full of them.
  4. Seems like you've already found some, but I came across this today My Wedding Veil
  5. I'm trying to decide this too. I bought a cheap one at the craft store today just to take home & try on with my dress. I'm still unsure, but my mom liked it. I definitly want a flower, so if I have a veil I'll have both. I might just wear the veil for the ceremony & take it off afterwards.
  6. Great pictures! Who is singing that song? We were thinking of using the version by The Cure for something in the wedding.

I'm still shopping around. If anyone is planning to order them, I wish i would've gotten a 1/2 size bigger than what I normally wear in sandals. They are narrow & my toes hang off the side a little. The point in the front is also a little pokey.

I only bought expensive stuff thinking it would give me skills but I wasn't good at it and I stopped. I can line the hell out of my lips when I'm feeling saucy though!! Do you use liquid eye liner? If so, try the other kind. What do you call it, pencile liner. I have found a smudgy, smooth pencile type is the easiest to put on.
  9. I started with a website to announce the info. I wanted to do that so people were not shocked by a postcard in the mail & not really know what it was all about. I sent out the website url by email almost a year in advance. I will send out the save the dates sometime around september. I'm waiting until we've taken our engagement pictures because I want to put them on the save the date.
  10. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who doesn't wear makeup daily. I just wear lip gloss most of the time. When I get all fixed up though, I put it on. I do not think it will look weird to wear it on your wedding day if you never do as long as you keep really natural. I'm going to do my own, because I don't want to look too made up. I am by no means a pro, but I'm just going to do what I do normally. I've gone to a makeup counter a few times to have them show me some new things to do & if I like it, I buy the stuff they used. I'm thinking about giving that a try again for a more bridal look. Last time I went, they put purple eyeshadow on me. I never would've tried that myself, but now it's my standard eye color. I didn't venture outside of browns before that.
  11. i think the mom's usually talk to each other to avoid having on the same color. i know our mom's are. i dont think there are any rules.
  12. I was thinking bout making something similar using shutterfly.com. I made a photobook using that website & it would be easy to make one that was a guest book. I'm always getting offeres for free photobooks from them. I've posted two on this forum.
  13. I've started using farecast.com to see if prices are high or low. I want to find a website that tells you what prices were last year, so you can see what the trends are.
  14. It may not be as easy to set up. I don't think it has sections for adding things like messages, first class upgrades, etc. I think you have to design all that yourself. But, I'm not sure. I'm just started to look at it. Has anyone bought anything on your registry yet? If not, I don't think it would be a problem to switch it.

One of my friends said it took her dress like 6 months to come in and the store even told her 6-9 months for most of their dresses. That seemed like a really long time to me... I think shopping is a little hard at first when you don't know what you want & there are so many options. I think your mom will have more fun just making a final decision. I've been shopping for a while to figure out what style I want. I take pictures in the dresses & email them to my mom for her opinion. She was going to be here last weekend, but her flight was canceled. I found my dress, but it's probably better she wasn't here because I had to do a lot of driving & running around. It wasn't too much fun.
  16. From what I've read you can use myregistry.com to get cash gifts of all of those things too, but they don't charge a fee. You are paid through paypal, so you get the typical paypal fees for receiving money (up to 3%). You can divide your cash gifts up into different parts such as "massage for two, breakfast in bed, house fund, etc." I think a honeymoon registry sounds great, but I hate to lose 7% of the money. Here is info from their website: MyRegistry.com offers its services free of charge. There are no fees for members or their guests. Yes, at MyRegistry.com you have the option to set up a special Cash Gift Service for your registry. This will allow your friends and family to send you cash gifts in any denomination easily and effortlessly by using a credit card, a bank wire or a PayPal account. MyRegistry.com does not charge any fees for this service. However, your special cash gift account is operated by PayPal in conjunction with MyRegistry.com, and PayPal's low transaction fees apply when a cash gift is sent to you. The maximum transaction fee for a US member is 2.9% + 30cents per transaction (i.e. $3.20 for a $100 contribution to your cash gift account). For international members please refer to PayPal's Terms and Conditions.
  17. I've only known one person to have a problem. Her vacation pictures from cabo were ruined. She puller her camera out of her bag & the security guy said not to worry about it, it's never messes up the film. So she sent it through the Xray & the pictures wer runied. You can still see them, but they are really red with marks all over them. She has a very nice camera though, so maybe she had expensive film. I'll ask her. Thanks for the expert advice! What do you think of buying cameras that expired 2 years ago. Will they still work? A lot of sites sell old underwater cameras for cheap.
  18. The port o potty will come clean. So it won't be so gross because it won't be getting used by masses of people like a lot of the public ones. But having a sink does sound nice. A high class port o potty.
  19. I was thinking about buying a bunch of underwater cameras for OOT bags. What do you do about keeping them out of the Xray so they don't get ruined? I'd want to check them so they don't take up space in my carry-on. But, if you don't carry them on won't security Xray them? Do they Xray all checked bags? Is it only film that has been used that gets ruined by the Xray? If so, I can warn guest to take them as a carry on on their way back home & make sure they don't go through the xray.
  20. I just saw that bgregistry.com is run by myregistry.com I'm only putting registry info on the website, too. They say you are not supposed to put it on invites. I think every invite I get has it, though. I'm just not that interested in getting gifts, but if we are going to get them I'd rather pick it out.

So, I would suggest you password protect those. I protected mine. I'm not using it either, but I don't want to have the same problem. I couldn't protect the guestbook or forum.
  22. You know, I will have probably emailed out the video before the AHR anyway. We are most likely having it 2 months after the wedding. I like the idea of having it on a CD. We can make DVDs too for family without computers. It would be cool to project it onto a wall or something like those outdoor movies. I'll look around for places where we can do something like that. My FI's mom works for parks & rec so she'll know more about it. Sorry, not trying the threadjack. Yes, a nice picnic sounds like fun. If catering seems too expensive, there are other options. My cousin bought precooked food from sam's & reheated it for her wedding. It was just as good as catered BBQ. I think there were more like 75 people. Over 200 may be too hard to do without catering. Maybe you can just cater the main course & do your own sides. What about places like boston market where you pick up cooked chicken? I have no idea how expensive they are.
  23. OK, I get the problem now...you can't stop the emails. What type of email do you use? If it's yahoo, you can create your own filter to send them off into a different folder. You can pick a keyword & if the email has that keyword in it, the email goes directly to that folder. Just make sure the keyword (or words) is specific enough to not filter email you want. I hope password protecting it works. I'm going to protect mine now. Thanks for the warning.
  24. Have you made sure his parents were OK with hosting? I'm having 2 AHR's. One in texas where all my family is & one in North carolina where I live now. A friend offered to throw us the NC AHR at her house. I was so excited, because our place is too small. I plan on helping out with stuff like buying a keg of corona, making salsa, etc. It's a mexican themed party. We are even getting a pinata. I'm really excited about it, because it will be really casual. I'm worried about the texas reception. I don't want to have to plan a traditional reception. I'm trying to avoid that stuff with a DW. I want something casual & a house party would be great, but I'd need someone to volunteer their house. We may have too many people coming to the texas party for anyone to host. We'll probably rent out a place, but I'm just really hoping it doesnt turn into a full blown reception. We've also talked about a BBQ in the park. I'd rather do something like that. But, I really want to show the video. So, I don't know what to do. For some reason the thought of a big formal reception with 200 people make's me feel sick. If I could have it at a family members house who had a lot of land, I'd be thrilled.
