That being said, we are having custom coozies made and will give each guest one at our welcome/rehearsal dinner. Wow, I would not want to pay a fee. If the hotel won't hand them out when guest check in, I'll give them to them. I guess it is extra work for the front desk, but $5 per person is a lot.
  2. yes I can hear it. Now I'm wondering why I wanted to! it's torture!!! I'm trying to endure it to get to the rap. I hate all the beats. It's too much! It's like every bad 80s song playing at once. OK, I got to the rap part. Wow, that's as cool as spraypainting hollywood on your wall & playing frogger in your dinning room. I wish he would've rapped, "I'm on team heidi."
  3. Anyone know another place to hear the song? The link isn't working for me.

  5. Susan what do you mean by this? -photo share letter (we set up a snapfish account for all our guest to upload their digital pics to when they get home) I use snapfish all the time. I'd love a way for people to be able to upload to my account. How did you do this? All I know how to do is to have them share fromt heir own account & then email it to me. But, that's not as great, because you can't get them off (for free) in a high resolution to use for projects outside of snapfish. And they also ahve to make an account. Did you just make a generic account like "[email protected]" & give everyone the password? I like the idea of putting everything in a bottle. I don't want a bunch of stuff to pack. I don't think bags are essential. Guests may also have a full bag & don't need a lot of extra stuff to pack. I'm still deciding between canvas bags or paper. But, now I think I might just stuff it in a bottle.

I made a logo that just says "Riviera Maya, Mexico June 21, 2008." I thought that would be generic enough for people to reuse them. I plan on using that logo for the bags, but haven't decided for the cups. If they are just plastic tumbler mugs, we might leave the names on. If they are nice bottles I know people will reuse a lot, we'll take off the names. I've also seen some people on the forum put their names on the logo small. I think a certain amount of personalization is good. Otherwise, you might as well just order stuff already made.
  7. Someone posted a cute basket with flip flops that said "dancing shoes on it." Other people have put their logos on the shoes. It was really cute.

  9. OH, i totally agree you shouldnt have to include these people, I just don't think they were trying to be jerks by asking. A big reason why I wanted a DW, was to not have all these extra people around.
  10. Honestly, I think asking to be invited can be good intentioned. Until you've planned a wedding, you probably wouldnt understand why someone wouldnt want more guest. Typical parties are the more the merrier. It does make it so different when each guest adds more expense, but I don't think they are thinking about that. I really don't think they just want a free meal. I also think sometimes they are just curious. They want to put it on their calendar & plan for it. I feel like I start planning for weddings long before I get the invite. Especially in the summer when weekends book up quick.
  11. I'm so happy you are rebooked! Sorry, it was such a pain to do. Have a wonderful wedding!!
  12. Map of Mexico's Costa Maya - Playa Real: Real Estate in Costa Maya, Majahual, Playa del Carmen, Playacar and Riviera Maya, Mexico OK, Costa Maya is the area south of Tulum, where it was expected to hit.
  13. Update 3:30am Tuesday What area is Costa Maya? Is that Different from Riviera Maya? Sorry, I haven't pulled up a map yet. Hurricane Dean made landfall around 3:30 am (Central Time) with 165 mile per hour winds near Costa Maya, Mexico. It is the first landfalling category 5 hurricane to make landfall in the Atlantic basin since Hurricane Andrew hit South Florida in 1992. Its pressure of 906 millibars is the third lowest pressure at landfall behind the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane in the Florida Keys and Hurricane Gilbert in 1988 in Cancun, Mexico. Data from the hurricane hunter aircraft shows that Dean continued to strengthen all the way up to its landfall. Now that the center is moving ashore, it will weaken as it crosses the Yucatan Peninsula today. However, Dean should maintain hurricane status and then restrengthen over the southern Bay of Campeche before making a final landfall Wednesday in the Mexican state of Veracruz. As of 4 am (Central time), the center of Dean was located near 18.7 North, 87.8 West, which is about 35 miles east-northeast of Chetumal, Mexico, or 195 miles east-southeast of Campeche, Mexico. Maximum sustained winds are near 165 miles per hour. Minimum pressure is near 906 millibars. The resorts of Cancun and Cozumel will not feel the full brunt of Hurricane Dean but waves on the order of 18 to 24 feet are expected to crash along the shores resulting in severe beach erosion. Squalls of tropical storm-force winds and heavy rains will rotate in across the resorts early this morning, then improve slowly later this afternoon. Various hurricane and tropical storm watches and warnings are in place. Remember that watches mean that conditions are possible within 36 hours; warnings mean that conditions are expected within 24 hours. Elsewhere in the Atlantic, a tropical wave is bringing disorganized showers a few hundred miles north of the Leeward Islands. There is some potential for slow development with this system as it moves to the west.
  14. What about a more informal RSVP? I've asked people to let me know if they are considering going, not if they are going. But, I'm doing it informally through the website, email, of phone. I think it's hard for people to answer so far in advance. I'm not doing a room block, so I don't need an RSVP now, but it's nice to know. I always laugh when an 8 & a ) turns into a

I'm sure you can find someone similar and that might be your best (and most cost-effective) option. Wow only $50! When I was searching I could only find people who charged $500! So are you having a notery come to you instead of going to the courthouse?
  17. We are doing the cups or some sort of sports bottle too. I think people will get a lot of use at them at the resort due to the small glasses. I haven't picked a place to order from yet. I did make a 1-color logo so printing will be cheaper. My logo as it is would take too many colors.
  18. I love that paul simon song. I hadn't heard it until recently I was on hold with sprint & it was playing. My dad has health issues due to his weight & can't dance right now. Instead he is recording a song for us that we are going to play sometime during the ceremony. It's called "She wear's my ring" by ray price. My dad loves ray price. We aren't having a dance. If we did, I was going to play the song while I danced with my FI. I'd have my dad sing it, but he is a cryer too! I don't think it's just the stress that brings out the tears. I think it's other emotions. Excitement, happiness, love..and some stress.
  19. I've been like that since we got engaged. i cry at commercials, oprah, songs, when i tell stories, etc. Not major crying, but i get choked up. I tried to tell my mom about the hand ceremony & i cried each time I started to talk about it. I can't imagine I'd be able to actually get through it. I also wanted to write our own vows, but I'm starting to think I won't be able to get the words out. Maybe I can record myself & lipsync
  20. Post some of your favorite recipes so we can all try something new! I'll start with two I make all the time Black Bean Dip 1 chopped green bell pepper ½ cup chopped red onion 1/3 cup chopped fresh cilantro 1/3 cup lime juice (about 2 limes) 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon ground cumin ½ teaspoon chili powder 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained 1 can diced tomatoes, drained 1 can sweet whole kernel corn, drained 1. Combine all ingredients in large bowl, stirring well. Serve with tortilla chips. I like the hint of lime chips with this. Greek Pasta ½ package of angel hair pasta 4 teaspoons extravirgin olive oil basil oregano parsley salt pepper can stewed tomatoes, partially drained 1 garlic clove, minced ¼ package fresh spinach feta cheese 1.Cook pasta, drain. Add 2 tablespoons olive oil, basil, oregano, salt & pepper to pasta. 2.Heat 2 tablespoons oil in skillet. Add spinach & garlic & cook a few minutes. Then add tomatoes. 3.Mix pasta with sauce. Sprinkle on feta cheese.
  21. Hot! We are so glad to have you back with some steamy pictures! The colors your photographer used are awesome.

I think the 7 day crest whitestrips work well, so i am just doing it once a week beforehand. I am doing my highlighst 2 weeks beforehand, and nails and waxing the weekend before I leave. I would suggest trying the 7 day strips at another time before the wedding & see how they make your teeth feel. You don't want to have painful sensitive teeth at the wedding. I know I'm an extreme case, because I already have sensitive teeth & the bleaching just adds to it, but everyone gets some sensitivity. When i first started bleaching the pain drove me crazy. It would've ruined my vacation.

I do think that often the natural instinct is to dissaprove of something that isn't traditional. Even before really understanding the situation. Maybe it sounds too complicated. I also think some people instantly thought Mexican border town (although I went to wedding there that was nice). That's why I told people with the website full of exciting things to do in mexico & all the info they needed to know it would be a simple & fun trip. The response was all positive. Well, maybe some people have complained about me secretly, but I don't think those would be people who are going. And they'd find something to complain about anyway no matter what I did. You could have a traditional wedding in a hall next door to them & they'd find something to complain about.
  24. I felt like as long as we had 4-6 people with us it would be fine. I know I would be sad if it was just the 2 of us. i've seen some people go with just their parents & then have a big party when they got back. I think thats a personal decision to make. Lots of people on this forum have eloped & had a wonderful time. It would be nice to just plan for the 2 of us when picking out a hotel & location. I wanted to go somewhere I had never been, like brazil or costa rica, but mexico was the most affordable for guests.
