  1. Did you stay in seperate hotel rooms the night before and avoid each other the day of the wedding? I don't want to feel like a captive in the hotel room until 4:00. I also want to eat breakfast & lunch at the hotel buffet without having to coordinate our schedules. Do you think it's worth it to not see each other until the wedding? I was thinking maybe we would just not see each other between lunch & the wedding, once I started doing my hair & makeup & put on the dress. What did you guys do or plan on doing? Will guest get upset if they see you hanging out together on the morning of the wedding?
  2. I was quoted $100 for someone to come to my room & fix my hair. Is that about right? I haven't had my hair fixed by a pro in a long time. I think I paid $25-$35 for prom, but that was *gasp* almost 10 years ago. It will be really nice to have them come to me.

  4. opps, I had EDR confused with a different hotel. Check out this map El Dorado Royale resort: photo tour, aerial images It's so much for for seeing whats around the hotel. I put a link on my website so guest can "look around" the area. It can be a little deceptive. If there is an area of just trees, it's not on the map so places can seem closer than they really are.
  5. No, it's at the Catalonia Riviera Maya. I think they are in the same area. I'll look on the locogringo map. There is a lagoon 2 miles from our hotel that should be great for snorkeling. I can't wait!

We just got back from a trip to Azul Beach Hotel June 20-26 (where he proposed), and his favorite day was the day we went to Playa. We also got to tour El Dorado on this trip, which is when I fell in love with the resort! My FI & I are the same way. I can spend maybe a day or two just laying on the beach. We prefer going somewhere to hike of be more active. I've only been to cancun, but it looks like there will be a lot of adventuras stuff to do in RM. I'm looking forward to visiting playa. Do you snorkle? I'm very excited to be able to snorkle near the hotel. I think there will be enough to do to keep us really busy.
  7. I let our guest know when we are planning activities so they have an idea of the best nights to stay. But they can plan it however they want. We will be there wed-wed with the wedding on saturday. I'm suggesting they go thur-sun if they want to stay 3 nights. We'll have some optional group things planned for thurs & friday. I just want to give them an idea of what's going on before they book. But they can plan what works for them with the TA.

What kind of stuff does he like to do?
  9. Your wedding is the day before mine! What's Lomas? I felt so overwhelmed at first, but once I had the place booked I was totally relaxed. I think that's the hardest part. I think it's too early to buy plane tickets. My TA suggested waiting until oct or nov. You are leaving on the 18th to get married on the 20th? Are you doing the legal ceremony? Have you checked the residency requirements? You need to be there 3 days before. I think it's 3 days. It's also tricky what counts as a day. The day you arrive might not count. If you are getting married in the US first, you don't have to worry about that. Welcome to the forum! Don't worry we all feel overwhelmed at first. It all comes together after the first few weeks or month. We can help you get started!

  11. Pale girl= bought ivory. It's a really light ivory. But my FI wants to wear all white. I think it would look better if we match. He said nope he's an angel & needs to wear all white. So I'm thinking about making a little halo to give him when I buy his outfit.

No, I don't think that's dumb. You are also not going in hurricane season. I think it's smart to weigh out the risk, how much you'd have to lose & the cost. Buying insurance isn't always the best choice. We probably won't get it. But then I think it's smart for my grandma b/c she will be more likely to decide not to go. It would take something big to keep us from going. I'd have to be the sickest I've ever been to not get on the plane. And i'm not so worried about a hurricane in june.
  13. I think it's more important if you are traveling during hurricane season. May is the safest month possible. Not during the season, but far enough after that things should be repaired if a storm hit. I have a link on my website about the option of travel insurance. It gives all the details of what it covers. That way my guest can decide for themselves. I don't want to feel responsible if something goes wrong. Our wedding is really cheap, so we don't need wedding insurance. If I was spending a big chunk though, I'd insure it. I plan on looking into the free insurance with credit cards. I know one of my discovers or MCs gives insurance. I just don't know what it covers. I dont have an amEx, but I plan on getting one someday. airlines will give you some money if your bag is deleyed, but it's not alot & only for essentials.
  14. That would annoy me. I can't stand when people don't have the time to RSVP to stuff. I send out evites a lot & you can see when people look at the evite. Some people will look at it twice & not bother to take the seconds to RSVP. Then if you ask them, they say they must not have gotten the email, have been really busy or some other lame excuse. I mean the stamp is already on the thing. RSVP!!! I have my myspace set up to not allow bands to request being my friend. It's just a lot of solicitors.
  15. I was thinking this is what I shouldve done instead of hunting for the right starfish shoes. If the shoes I dont have now (pair 2) don't work, I'll look into the DIY clip idea. I need to try them on with my dress still.
  16. I'd prefer to not get the invite if I already said I wasn't going. We get save the dates for out of state weddings all the time from people we never talk to. I send them back & check that we are not going. Then later on we get an invite. I always feel like it was a waste of their money and sometimes it feels like it was just a gift request. grandmas & close family are different. grandmas love invites. They like to hang them on the fridge and then later put them in a box to save forever. I had also planned on giving our grandparents OOT bags if they don't go. My grandma still has the dollar store candle from my cousins wedding & the birdsead from my stepsisters. She'll take extra bells if they are the favor. She'll love an OOT bag. I also like the idea someone posted earlier (sorry, I didn't click quote) about sending those guest a different letter. I don't think everyone should have to do this, but I think it's really nice.

A really simple waltz (I dont mean like a ballroom style fancy waltz) is so easy & looks good.
  18. Kelly (dragonfly)- for sharing those HOT TTD pics Tami (foxytv)- She had a lot of great suggestions for the hurricane brides

It's free shipping & returns. Watch out though, it's addictive. Oh, & you can sort by color & heel height. It's so easy.
  20. can you just move up your date to be out of hurricane season? It looks like july (although technically season) is not as risky of a month. I wanted May to completely avoid the season, but I chose June after seeing that there wasn't likely to be a storm then.

I'd be a little concerned with the heat and sun if you plan on doing in outdoors. Isn't 4 the hottest time of day? I'm doing 4 too, but I've worried about the heat.
  22. I say announce it on your website to let people know about it. Some of those take 7% of your money! That's a big cut. Myregistry.com takes about 3% (in paypal fees). It's not the same kind of set up though. You'd just have a box that says "honemoon fund" & people can contribute cash. If your hotel sells services online, you could also set that up through myregistry.com. You can put a variety of things on myregistry, so it wouldn't just be honeymoond stuff. there is a thread where we talked about myregisty on here somewhere.
  23. I would think guest would have an early lunch before the wedding & hors doeuvres after. What time does lunch start at the hotel? If it isn't early (11-11:30), maybe that wouldn't work. I am hypoglycemic so I'm fanatical about eatting on time. But I guess if a guest feels the same way, they could always decide to have an early lunch on their own or have a snack. It's a tricky time, but you can probably figure out something. Oh, & I suggest pictures right after the wedding so you don't have to keep your hair & makeup perfect that long. But I guess you could always eat right after, touch up & then take pictures. I always feel like the photography time imediately afterwards makes a lull for guests. But, I know that's what I'll want to do because I wont be relaxed until the pictures are done.
